1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA with the 5.7L 350 engine and a 6-speed T56. Leather interior, T-tops, WS6 suspension package. Third owner; have had the car since 2001. Converted to T56 6 speed manual in fall of 2015 (cost $3,500). The 5.7L engines only came with automatics from the factory; this is a popular conversion. Aftermarket Hooker headers and stainless steel Borla exhaust. New engine mounts, transmission mounts, driveshaft U joints. Balanced driveshaft. New starter, battery is from 2015. Stock engine, timing chain replaced in 2008, injectors in 2003, water pump in 2003. All emissions in place. Rebuilt headlight motors. Includes Noah car cover, Spohn subframe connectors and a Spohn front suspension and steering kit (pitman arm, tie rods etc.). Also includes original exhaust and manifolds and original radio that works with the steering controls. Some cosmetic issues as follows: Medium dent in driver side rear quarter panel while car was parked in street (another car backed into it). See photos. Paint is original, but peeling. This is a very rare loaded 1988 Real Deal GTA with a 350 LT1 that was just rebuilt running over 400 hp. You tune this one with a Lab Top Guys and when you turn up the fuel injectors to 40 pounds it becomes a Real Monster.Its got a 700R built trans & the org.3.27 stock rear end and the and with the Hurst Ratchet i just love it. The long tube Hooker Headers sound great.If i dont sell it ill replace the Z28 15 inch wheels back to stock gold wheels and steering wheel,wing and recover the drives seat and that about all it needs. i did order the correct side door moldings that will be on the car as soon as it gets here.It was always garage kept and there is no rust anywhere and all of the org. emblems are present and not faded out.It also has the GTA leather glove pouch on the pass side in great shape and the non leaking t-tops cover is like new. I took a 400 mile trip from Nashville to West Tn last Tuesday and loved it just getting her broken in and it got about 22 mpg.Its sitting on 15 inch Z28 wheels with new tires and has the stock 4 wheel disc brakes that are also new in the ft. and have 50% left in the back.It fires right up with the red top Optima battery and has 60 pounds of oil pressure and runs good and cool with the adjustable electric fan.All the lights and gadges work and is a Blast to drive.Who ever wins it will be Very Glad they did..I do have the clear and clean TN. I would not be selling her but i have a chance to buy a 1973 T/A like the one i had in High School and have to sell off a couple of toys to afford it.I have done a lot of research on buying parts for the car and i was about to buy the 17x9 stock looking wheels that Hawks 3rd Generation offers now for 839.00 and it came with the dig.steering wheel that i have found several on ebay for around 250.00.Also was thinking about leather seats covers and a new rear wing that Classic Industries offers in several different packages and that will about do it.The door molding should be here today and will be on the car for the next owner.I have lowered the Buy it NOW Price to a very low 4500.00.Take advantage of it while you can and buy yourself a Cool Christmas Present!!! Posi Traction rear end The car runs fine and has no problems passing inspection. Always starts right up. After putting in to gear it will one time act like it wants to die. After 1 rev it straightens outs. Never has any issues at long lights or stop and go traffic. New 700r4 transmission did have one issue and I took it to a place to get it fixed. Catches all gears fine now. I believe the rear defroster doesn't work, hood struts could use a replacement ($30) and ac doesn't blow cold (probably needs recharged). Odometer reads 107k but it had problems a while back and was swapped for a working one. Actual mileage is 169k. It shows odometer exempt on the title (due to age). Horn is wired to a push button on the dash. There's a few scratches on driver's side window, and some ground affects could use a tighter seal. Also doors sometimes require a hard push, but they always close fine. That's the only minuses I can think of. Headlights pop right up, wipers work, all lights work ...feel free to ask any questions. In 1989 The Trans Am GTA was faster than a Mustang GT and Camaro Iroc and much better looking in my opinion. It was also the fastest USA production car of 1989 and the last year it was used at Indy although that was the V6 Turbo one. It was Also the 20th Anniversary of Trans Am. It has the same L98 Engine used in the C4 Corvettes and it runs strong. Car comes with several extras (stock manifolds, leftover paint (with the paint code), original stereo, original speakers, receipts on work done to it, Haynes repair manual and other miscellaneous. Also including a DuPont Car Cover with it. Between that cover and my parent's garage, the car has never seen snow or rain since restoring. In 4 years time of owning, I have put about 15k in to this car. I have family problems though and it needs to be sold, definitely not a want. Always gets a lot of attention at shows. It's rare to find a third generation f-body in this good of shape. Please note my acceptances of pay and that you are responsible for pickup/shipping. The car is sold As is. Thanks for looking

For sale I have a nice 28,600 mile 3.8L V-6 20th Anniversary Indy Turbo Trans am with clear IL title. Original miles and in great overall shape with modified engine. There were performance upgrades to this engine. All straight with matching Serial numbers on all doors, trunk & hood. All options. Great, very fast car. Paint is original best one can tell and does show it's age in areas but again overall very nice given its age. This Turbo Trans Am has the same basic engine as a Grand National. Only 1,555 were produced.. It has no known mechanical issues. Underside is as clean as the top side. Many receipts for maintenance & engine upgrades are included along with the window sticker, manual & 1989 brochure. Only issues are some paint chips and scuffs, the rear spoiler has a crack at the base by the hatch (common issue with these) and a couple small scratches in the rear truck area, the driver left side bolster is worn. power antennae doesn't go up and the cruise control does not always work. "109" block . 020 over. billet #2 #3 cap. JE forged pistons. Edelbrock 204/214 cam kit. Harland Sharp 1. 65 roller rockers. Champion Racing ported and polished intake and heads with a new valve job. Ceramic coated headers cross pipe and 3'' down pipe. Aceel gen 7. 60 injectors. Alky control methanol injection. rebuilt TE61 turbo. Custom after market intercooler. Car also has the original stock I/C.. A/C is converted to 134 and blows cold. Car currently make 318 rwhp and 380 rwtq. This is on a break in tune and is only running off the waste gate (14psi). The manual boost controller and methonal injection are NOT hooked up. The car should be re-tuned and have the boost controller and methanol injection hooked up if you desire. 1989 GTA convertible with L-98 350 engine. have a copy of the ASC work order to make the car a convertible. the body is solid NO rust. the interior is in good shape except the bottom of the front seats. it will crank and run (will smoke the tires) but the brakes need work, the booster, master and diversion valve are removed. have standing by a new set of goodyear eagle GS-C 245-45-r16 tires for it ($700 to $800). replaced shocks, bushings, brake pads, spark plugs, and many other parts and wiring. body is in very good shape no dents, rust, or fading, some surface scratches. no cracks or brakes in the plastic on the interior. the rear end is a 3.27 limited slip. have the 1989 firebird service manual to go with it. the top operates smoothly and is manual. the top has some fraying by the windows. all the lights work and the headlights operate smoothly. some of the gauges are not working, most likely a broken wire. I have not traced all of them down yet. needs some TLC to have a nice convertible.

The car was purchased new by us from the Pontiac dealer in Oakland, CA in 1989. The car has always been garaged and when we moved to Indiana from the Bay Area in 2007 the car was transported via professional car carrier. Car has never been in the snow or ice of Indiana so rust is not an issue as the car spent most of its life in Bay Area. The car has never been smoked in. The car runs like a bat out of hell with 5 speed manual transmission with very good road response with the performance suspension. Although it has the 5.0 Liter fuel injected (305ci) engine it has plenty of power (the only engine available if you wanted a manual transmission and T-Tops as the 5.7 liter engine would twist the body with manual transmission so all 5.7 Trans-Ams came with automatic transmission only) . We wanted the five speed manual transmission rather then auto trans for the fun of driving a high performance stick shift rather then automatic. The car is has four new Fulda Quantum Elite 245/50zr16 high performance tires which have less then two thousand miles, New Alternator, New Power Antenna motor, New heater core, new fuel injectors, All repairs done by GMC Dealers with OME. The radio has the equalizer and cassette player which sound fantastic, we will include a cassette to put into the cassette player which allows you to plug into your IPod or IPhone to hear your tunes through the cars sound system. The T-Tops are original safety glass (not Lexan) and include the sunblock panels. GM Factory Bra purchased with the car in 1989 includes headlight covers, front hood with Firebird Trans-Am text. Retractable security shade on hatchback is in perfect condition and retracts just like new. The car has been kept in original condition and still has original paint. The stress crack on the spoiler is a common issue associated with the material GM made the spoiler out of. To keep the original aspect of the car we opted to leave it rather then replace with aftermarket fiberglass. You will be hard pressed to find a One Owner 1989 Trans-Am GTA "Knight Rider" which has been pampered and taken care of as well as this one.

This is a 1989 Pontiac Trans Am that was my child hood dream car. I've owned it since 2006. I've had all the service done on it. It has new brakes all the way around, a new Magna flow exhaust, new battery, and a new rear spoiler. The tires have about 10,000 miles on them. I have an extra wheel with a brand new performance tire on it that comes with the car. I also have the original radio. This is a car that you'll love to own. It was not well known at the time, but in 1989, Pontiac produced the quickest[9] and fastest[10] American production car. The "Excitement Division" was also asked to provide a car to pace the 73rd running of the Indianapolis 500; sadly, it would be the final time a Pontiac would ever receive that honor. The Trans Am model was now 20 years old, and it was time for another anniversary edition, with this special 20th Anniversary Trans Am to be based on the existing Trans Am GTA. Through a unique partnership between Pontiac and an engineering firm called Prototype Automotive Services (PAS), the Trans Am GTA was equipped with a more powerful version of the turbocharged Buick 3.8L V6, originally developed for the Buick Regal Grand National, and the Turbo Trans Am (TTA) became the vehicle Pontiac supplied to pace the Indianapolis 500. Ultimately, 1,555 TTA replicas, rated at 250 hp, were produced for sale, five of those being test cars. But after Car and Driver magazine tested the car, logging a 0–60 mph run in 4.6 seconds, and a standing quarter-mile in 13.4 seconds at 101 mph, they called the 250 hp rating "exceedingly modest," estimating the actual output to be "closer to 300 hp." They also subsequently reported that it was the "quickest 0–60 sprinter available in any US production-car showroom – at any price."[9] The Car and Driver evaluation produced the best acceleration performance of any main stream publication to test a regular TTA press car from the Pontiac fleet, partly because Car and Driver realized that the turbo boost must be "preloaded" to get maximum performance figures. But short-distance sprinting was not all this car could do well. Early in 1989, Motor Trend ran their top speed test article "Flat-out Fastest American Cars II-the Sequel." During this test, the TTA did 162 mph, and was the fastest production car evaluated in the test. However, Motor Trend declared the winner to be a 1989Corvette ZR-1, which went much faster, but was not a production car (it was a prototype that Chevrolet intended to release for production in 1989, but did not come out until 1990).[11] So by a slight technicality, the TTA could be called the flat-out quickest (0–60 4.6 sec.) and fastest (162 mph) American production car in 1989. It is interesting to note that the only constraint on the top speed of 162 mph was that the TTA was being limited by the engine redline and automatic transmission (with which all TTA's were equipped). When PAS installed a ZF 6-speed manual transmission into one of the cars, they were able to reach 181 mph.[12] Perhaps more importantly than the performance tests provided by the industry magazines was the fact that these cars were capable of much faster acceleration times – with minimal modifications. In fact, with $300 in new parts installed, 12.5-second quarter-mile runs were achievable – without manually shifting gears or the need to trailer the vehicle to the track! Because of this, the TTA has gained a cult following among amateur racing enthusiasts. Pontiac sub-contracted the job of engineering the TTA engine modifications to PAS. The narrow engine bay of the Trans Am required the use of different cylinder heads, which happened to have better flow characteristics than the old Buick heads. Special stainless steel headers were made specifically for the project as well. The heads, headers, along with more refined tuning of the boost and fuel curves, all added up to a more powerful package than the older Buicks. PAS was also in charge of testing and assembling the engines. Most TTA's came with T-tops and leather interior, but there were also hardtops and cloth-interior cars. And every TTA had an automatic transmission – the TH200-4R, equipped with overdrive and a torque converter clutch. The three actual pace cars were randomly selected from the production run, and sent to Indianapolis to pace the race. Thus, the pace car replicas were closer to the actual pace cars than any replica previously offered; the only difference between the replicas and the three actual pace cars was the addition of strobe lights and safety equipment to the latter. In addition, the TTA was relatively economical to drive; it returned 24 mpg on the highway, while the only cars (besides the Lotus Esprit Turbo SE) that could approach its performance at the time (Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc.) were far more costly, and providing only around 10 to 12 mpg. As has been proven to be the case in subsequent years, relying on a small engine for cruising, and a turbocharger for power, provides an exciting driving experience while returning impressive fuel mileage. The rarest 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Ams are the hardtops and convertibles. Only 40 hardtops were made. Only three convertible TTA's were built by ASC,[13][14] one of which was bought by the president of PAS, with the other two falling into private hands. Only two are generally known to exist, however, as the ASC order log shows records for only two TTA convertibles.[15] The five test TTA's, because they were for pre-production use, were pulled off of the assembly line without regard to color, and therefore were not necessarily white. At least two of these test cars were sold to private individuals, so there are at least two extremely rare, non-white, factory TTA's in existence; in fact, one is known to be red. The bad: Not running. Needs a new engine. Clear coat has flaked off in most spots. There's a small dent in the driverside rear quarter panel, the spoiler is no good, and a small crack in the rear bumper. The good: Its a GTA, a digital dash GTA, interior is good minus the dashpad being cracked. No tears on the seats, carpet is fairly new and in great shape. All hood/trunk struts, headlight motors worked when last used, along with the rear trunk pull-down motor. Transmission and rear end worked flawlessly. The underside of the car was coated so theres no rust or rot, its a solid body. Comes with 4 brand new BF Goodrich tires, and some parts for the engines (mainly tune up parts) incl. a new gmpp zz4 cam.

Up for sale is a very rare and pristine 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA edition with factory 5.0 V-8 and 5 speed transmission. This car has verifiable actual miles as listed. She is in excellent condition inside and out. She runs and drives just like it looks, awesome is the word. The car is very quick and responsive, it accelerates quickly and shifts smoothly. The tires are at 75%, the wheels are factory and original to the car as is the interior and body. There is not a spot of rust anywhere, the undercarriage is as clean as the car. She is currently registered and can be driven anywhere. The dash is in complete working order, the seats are like new as with the rest of the interior. The paint is bright and shiny with a very slight show of age with 2 small ( dime size) defects near the spoiler, they are barely noticeable. I am listing my 1989 20th anniversary Trans am #823 of 1555 built all of these Trans am's were white exterior with tan interior and this one is equipped with leather, Its a 3 owner clear Ohio title car with all documation, which includes the original window sticker, temp tag, sales paper work, all service work completed receipts since new for mileage documation, complete PHS packet, factory build sheet, the collector portfolio box which includes the (official pace car decals which were never installed which is one thing that makes this one unique some people like that look and some don't so you have that option to do it how you'd like, I've also got all 1989/1990 road test magazines for this car and the official press release packet, this Trans am is as documented as they come its missing nothing. Also comes with two sets of floor mats(including the upgraded ones that say Turbo Trans am which are in the pic's), 3 sets of keys, the factory front licence plate bracket never open still in the factory package, the t-top shade covers and a high quality car cover all come with the sale. This trans am also wears the factory good year gatorback tires with no signs of dry rot, factory spark plug wires which read 20th Trans am and all other parts are as factory installed even the air filter, This Trans am was put on a lift and fully detailed top to bottom even removing and cleaning the wheels, brakes, drivetrain and floor boards were waxed never undercoated and always stored in a climate controlled garage for the highest quality preservation where all window seals are crisp and not dry rotted as well the leather is soft and smooth with no oils ever applied to them. The inside is as new condition with no stains or cracks or fading any where all the gauges work and options including the A/C and power antenna , Comes with the factory cassette as well. The out side has been clay barred and it's as smooth as can be, the paint shows no signs of damage or cracking(the spoiler is crack free which is uncommon on these cars) car has never had any paint work done, the emblems are like new with no fading or discoloring seen.
