“79” Trans Am 403 The Seventies almost wrote off horse power in sport cars because of the federal regulations and two oil embargos, but even as the muscle era dispersed into a vast sea of personal luxury coupes and compact commuters, performance lived on at Pontiac. By mid-decade, it had become apparent that the Trans Am was the sole survivor. Even in the brief period sandwiched between the demise of the Super Duty after 1974 and Burt Reynolds's silver-screen endorsement of the top-tier Firebird, sales of the Trans Am were on the rise; after the world met the Bandit, they exploded. The trend continued for 1979, when the second-generation Firebird concurrently received its last facelift and spent its last year with available 6.6-liter power. Today, the '79 Trans Am models, have become prized among collectors for their combination of styling, power and affordability, which is bolstered by a healthy aftermarket parts supply that keeps them prowling the pavement. The Engine: This engine is the 403-cu.in. V-8 (RPO L80), which had also already seen use in California-bound Trans Ams (and some Formulas) since the 1977 model year and automatic. It features a 4.351 x 3.385-inch bore and stroke, "4A" cast-iron heads with 2.00/1.55-inch intake/exhaust valves, hydraulic lifters and a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor, the 7.9:1 compression engine with a rating of 185hp and 315-lbs ft of torque. Trans Ams came equipped with a standard 403-cu in rated for 185hp. It was an incredible bang for the buck in its day which further solidified when contemporary road tests revealed that the Pontiac fell just a few ticks short of the Corvette in acceleration, and actually outperformed the 'Vette in braking by 19 feet. The Car: This car has been well cared for and loved all its life with a clean interior and strong pulling engine. Clean Car Fax and pleasure driven only showing 69,788 miles. Car comes with original owner’s manual, 2 set of keys and car cover. It’s a car that drives incredibly well, starts right up and puts a smile on your face every time you drive it and a head turner with its like new paint and blemish free body. Car also has modern retro radio. I would love to keep this car but I have other sport cars and need the room and would like to find a good home for it. Good luck with the bidding!

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE The time has come to put my 2000 Trans Am up for sale. I would love to keep the car, but I am looking to buy a house this year, and unfortunately I can’t have both. The car is in excellent condition and has been very well maintained all its life. The car is a 2000 Firebird Trans Am, optioned with the 5.7L LS1 V8 and an automatic 4L60E transmission. The car has the removable T-Top that gives you the feel of a convertible with the looks of a hardtop. The car is Pewter in color and has the desirable Ebony leather interior that is in excellent condition. Drivetrain: The LS1 pulls hard. The car has a couple of light modifications and puts out about 375hp and 375lb ft of torque. The car has long tube headers hooked up to a Magnaflow stainless catback exhaust. This gives the car a very aggressive muscle car tone. It sounds excellent under heavy throttle, but still relatively tame while cruising. I added a brand new K&N filter this spring. The automatic transmission shifts well, as it should. Exterior: As for exterior modifications, the car has a few slight changes. Most notable is the WS6 hood that I installed. It is a high-quality fiberglass WS6 hood with Firehawk vents that I had professionally painted. The fitment is as good as factory and the paint is a flawless match to the rest of the car. The rear valance has been painted in a semi-gloss black similar to the 2002 CETA cars, and is finished off with a pair of the large polished Magnaflow exhaust tips. The exterior is overall in excellent shape. The car had a $500 paint correction done this and the paint looks excellent. There are no swirl marks at all – the car does not show its age at all. There are a few medium-sized marks in the paint, including a bit of paint cracking on the hatch and a little clear coat peeling on the front bumper. The car does not have any significant dings. Wheels & Tires: The car comes with a set of Corvette Z06 wheels with machined lips and gloss black centres. The front wheels are 17”x9.5” and the rear wheels are 18”x10.5”. The wheels are straight and true, and are in fair condition. The faces are in good condition, but some of the wheels have some curb rash, and one has paint beginning to peel. The wheels are wrapped 275/40/17 Nitto 555 tires up front, while the back are large 285/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The front tires have good tread depth and the back will pass a safety test, but will need to be replaced soon. Interior: The interior is in good shape. The car has the “Ebony” interior that includes spotless black carpets and black leather 6-way adjustable power driver and passenger seats. The seats are in good condition, although the the driver's seat is starting to wear on the bolster and in the seat area. The car has the notorious door trim crack on the passenger side, and the dash does have a crack on it too. All the gauges, electronics, radio, power antenna, seats etc. function as they should. The power windows work, but the passenger side like on most Trans Am is very slow. The windows have been tinted, and they are quite dark. It gives the car a nice look from the exterior, but doesn’t cause any visibility issues. The driver’s side window does have a scratch in the tint. The car also comes with a set of embroidered Trans Am floor mats in the front. General Remarks: All the items on the car work as they should: the A/C is cold, the heat is warm, the headlights go up & down perfectly, the doors lock & unlock, it shifts well, pulls hard, and sounds great. There are some small marks in the paint as I mentioned above, and the cutback exhaust will need to be adjusted too. Overall the car does not show its age. Overall this is a very clean, powerful, and tastefully and lightly modified LS1 Trans Am. It comes with the good looks of a WS6 car with the Ram Air hood, and an aggressive set of Corvette wheels instead of the boring stock 16” ones. It comes with this, without a big price tag that come with most LS1 Trans Ams. I am asking $10,750 but I am open to reasonable offers.
