Unfortunately, life changes and you need to sell your toys. This is a super clean, dry, low mile blue chip investment grade car. This is a clean car born and raised in Souther California. I bought the car from the original owner in 2009. The good news about this car: 1. No smog test ever needed in the state of California. 1997 Diesels are exempt from mandatory smog tests and that saves hundreds per year with current vehicle registration requirements. 2. NO RUST! This is a California car--it has never seen snow, ice, salt or any very much water for the fact that we live in a desert region and have been in a drought for the last 5 years. 3. Leather seats in nearly PERFECT condition. There are no holes, tears or rips on any of the seats in the front or rear. 4. The brick and mortar shop in Silverlake, CA called Lovecraft put in an official Lovescraft conversion so this little car runs on any combination of SVO (Straight Veggie Oil), WVO (Waste Veggie Oil), Biodiesel or regular old Petroleum Diesel you find at every other gas station around the country. This is a "single tank" conversion, that is to say you can put any combination of the mentioned fuels into the same, single gas tank that has not been changed or modified in any way. The single tank conversion is ideal for warmer climates like Southern California. 5. This car will run forever! It is a solid, tank of a car that is extremely safe and fun to drive. The 300-E Series Diesel engines from Mercedes typically last well over 500k miles, some go to a million!6. This car starts up every single time and runs like a champ! When Diesel engines were invented to run on a variety of fuel types. Because veggie oil is a little thicker than regular petroleum diesel, the air compressor/conversion heats up the veggie oil so that is has a thinner viscosity as it runs the car. The first 600 miles on the converted engine, I ran SVO (straight Veggie Oil) off the shelves at Costco. After than break in period, I ran the car on WVO that I filtered down to .2 microns. I will include the filtration system to the winning buyer. Every third tank or so, I run the car on straight Petroleum diesel which keeps the fuel filters clean and everything running smoothly. The bad news about this car: 1. The tires will need changed in the next 10k miles.2. There is a missing button for the "child lock" feature on the power windows. The power windows work perfectly, it's just that the driver cannot prevent the passenger in the back seat from using the power windows to open and close the windows. 3. The A/C does not work great. I had freon added when I bought the car that helped for the first summer I owned it. Living in Santa Monica, I have not had the need to fix the AC.4. After you start the car up, the "Check Engine Electronics" light comes one. My mechanic that has serviced the car for the past 5 years (Herbert at German Car Center in Santa Monica, CA) said this is not a mechanical issue at all. It can be cleared out with the Mercedes Diagnostic computer they hook up to it, but it comes back every 300 miles or so. It is a mechanical non-issue as it does not affect the driving, engine or practical usage of the car. It does not EVER need to be smogged in the state of California. I mention this only because a message comes on after you start the car that says "check engine electronics". It's the same place you would be notified if a headlight needed to be changed or your coolant level was low. Having that message does not prevent you from driving the car normally. You can either leave the message illuminated as you drive, or press a tiny button on the dash to clear the message out.

Car has no rust at all since it has been stored in a climate-controlled environment year round and has been sparingly used in the Summer time only. Brand new Bridgestone tires. Vehicle was purchased from Mercedes Benz Germany and picked up through their European Delivery Program in Sindelfingen, Germany and shipped to Minneapolis and delivered by Feldman Imports. The vehicle needs to be paid for by a cashier's check and will be shipped at an extra cost depending on your location after the check is cleared by the bank. I can also arrange to ship it to a dealer of your choice and the dealer vehicle prep fees and destination charges will be charged to your account. If you prefer, it can be shipped to your home by a regular freight delivery service and an estimate of freight charges will be provided to you when you are closer to purshasing the car. This car has been with us for 15 yrs. It runs great. My husband took good care of it. It has new leather seats and new tires. three years before we bought it, the owner of German Motors in Sac. Ca. rebuilt it for his wife. Then we bought it and cared for it. It comes with both tops and a carrier for the hard top which is a storage rack on wheels. NADA appraised it at $12,000.00 and I need to sell so I prices it at $9000.00. It never needs smog inspection again and has a vintage liscence plate. Its a nice car, but IO must sell it, being a widow.
