Well after investing thousands into this amazingly rust free low mileage w126 to use as my Dailey driver I have realized this is not a practical vehicle for that and would be better off as some ones week end toy. I always wanted one of these cars for its classic lines and exceptional build quality so when I had the chance to purchase this car with a very low 77,000 miles on it I did, what I didn't know was the time spent in storage not running would cost me so much time and money to bring back to life. This car is super solid, the undercarriage and body are amazing the discoloration in the engine compartment and undercarriage is fluid film that I applied to try and preserve it's condition. The body is nice with the exception of some very minor damage on the left side doors from a flat bed just catching the side of the car while turning. The interior is in good condition with the exception of the lower rear seat has a tear, the left rear door panel has a few cracks the size of a finger nail and there are cracks in the wood inserts. The wheels are 17" sl500 rims with brand new uniroyal 235 45 tires. The engine runs nice and has plenty of power but the head has never been off so it is still running with the oil seeping original gasket ( though I have all the parts for that repair when the time does come for it). I will try to remember everything I have done to this car but as you can see from the amount of receipts I have, there was a lot done. First the fuel tank was removed and boiled, new pump,accumulator,filter, injectors,cap,eha valve,o2 sensor,air temp sensor,plugs,cap,rotor,wires,motor mounts,clutch fan,radiator,hoses,thermostat,flex joints,kyb shocks all the way around,rotors,pads,1 front caliper,electro magnetic heater valve, the dash was removed and heater box was rebuilt all new vacuum pods, new blue touth pioneer sterio with amped rear speakers,ac converted and charged,new window switches,2 new window track slides,all inner doors fluid filmed,new trunk gasket not yet installed,newer tail lights with good gaskets,front end aligned. I'm sure there is more but that's all I can recall without reading every receipt again. Also note that most all parts were oem Bosch as I am familiar with these cars not running well with aftermarket parts also I have a lot of new parts that are not installed yet that go with it beside the head related parts that I bought in advance knowing that all these engines suffer the same flaw. So to some this up this is could be a very nice example of a w126 that still has under 100k that I have done a lot of work to and invested probably more than my asking price into, this car was driven daily until last week, this car does run and drive but will need the head reworked in the future due to it seeping oil. We have owned this remarkable 300SDL for over a year and during that time drove it almost 14,000 miles. So if you are looking for a well-sorted original Mercedes-Benz luxury diesel with under 100,000 miles read on. Our Turbodiesel was special ordered by a Dallas socialite in 1986. She specified the unique color combination (441 Desert Taupe/277 Burgundy) and the addition of the rare (for a diesel) and expensive reclining rear seat option. She took delivery of the majestic Mercedes Benz and owned it exclusively until her death in 2013. We were told the Mercedes went to her nephew but he did not enjoy driving it. It passed to a family friend who coincidentally is a certified Mercedes-Benz Diesel technician. We took delivery of the Mercedes in July of 2014. It had been driven just 80,000 miles and all by the Dallas lady. She serviced the Mercedes at Stephenson Mercedes Benz until her death. We have many of the more recent service documents plus all books and tools. Our job was to baseline all of the service needs so we began by a thorough check of all systems. We flushed brake fluid, coolant, A/C system, fixed a few small leaks, replaced the tires and installed new Koni shocks at all 4 corners. The original Becker radio was replaced with an aftermarket unit so we sourced a remanufactured OEM Becker unit from Becker Auto Sound with an iPod adapter. We installed Sirius Satellite radio too. New wiper blades for the windshield and the headlights insured good visibility in all kinds of weather. But there would be no snow or slush duty for this one. That job fell to our trusty Subaru. We took the Mercedes on a southern tour last March and April racking up over 4,000 miles with no issues at all. We averaged 27 MPG during the entire trip. Currently, there are no mechanical issues and of course, none anticipated. A few things that may need to be addressed are the right side power mirror adjuster (it is inoperative), and the digital outside temperature gauge needs attention. The interior is virtually flawless with only some very minor wear on the side of the entry bolsters of each front seat. A good amount of original paint is present. The sides were refinished mainly to repair a series of door dings that accumulated over the years. That information comes from the intake reports at the Mercedes dealer where “multiple door dings, dents” were noted. When I received the car last July, only one noticeable dent was present and remains present to this day. An unfortunate flaw in an otherwise excellent body. You can decide, as the new owner, to live with or repair it. So there you have it. An excellent example of what some people say is the last of the great Mercedes-Benz long wheelbase S-Klasse sedans. That coupled with the legendary long life of the Turbo-Diesel engine make this one a compelling candidate. Remember, this isn’t a car languishing in some dealers inventory. We use this car daily and will continue using it until the next owner presents themselves. A fully sorted classic ready for the next adventure. Very nice, very clean, low mileage 1981 Mercedes 300D. 5 Cylinder diesel engine. Car starts up and runs great even in the bitter cold and after sitting fo a long time. I have had several of this model cars and this is by far the prettiest I have owned, and in the best shape. There are some minor rust spots, and blemishes that I would address if I were keeping it. I bought the car close to two years ago and have only put a couple thousand miles on it. 79,683 miles Interior, underneath, trunk, and engine compartment are all clean. Good brakes, exhaust, and Michelin tires. Car has dash board cover over original dash. A/C does not work. Clean Title. You won't find one much nicer than this one. Hello My name is Zbigniew Truszkowski and I'm a Sales Person/Auto Tech at K and G cars Inc. New Britain CT. Ive come across something truelly magnificent in my recent search for a great example of what Mercedes stands for. A 27 year old Turbo Diesel is what I found. The car was owned by a Doctor who took the word maintenance and care to another level. Floor mats vere never used and instead what the Dr. has done is he cut our some floor mats of his own. I found Brake pads front/back and a ready oil change with filter in the trunk. It does not stop there Also in trunk I found a Car cover and a note to the Auctioneer at the Charity auction I purchased the car from. It said That the Car was owned by a Doctor and that It was garaged and driven 2 Miles to and from work each day. The Doctor was only able to drive that much Because it was hes assigned route by the IRS. Thats what the note states. Car fax is clean and I found that in 1993 car had 6K which makes total sense. When you enter this vehicle you expect nothing less but for it to feel like it was made same week. Car was bought from Ronald McDonald Charity for Kids in Ohio and all the profits went to the Cause. Seats smell like the factory and the smell is the real New Car Smell. Not a smoker car cigarette lighter nor ashtray were ever used. Car has the original Spare Keys and Maintenance booklet along with a Manual. Tire and jack look like new. Tires are what looks like Brand New. car runs like New. Car is really really Nice and there is simply no reason to go on telling how nice everything is. Everything works no leaks rust. It is what is to be expected with 52K. Collector Worthy. Im a certified technician and this is my 10th or so 1987 300d Ive had wagons and sedans, Few v8's and Other gasers. Proud Owner of a 94 e500 a 88 300ce 5spd and a 86 300e 5 speed. I worked on these cars For last 9 Years and know almost evrything about the W124 Chassis. Ive never seen an Example like this one here. Original paint and everything else. Dent on RL door I'll leave it for my Dent Master to take it out as I don't want to Paint it as I like all original paint. I will leave it for someone to decide if they want to paint it or not after they purchase it. I did not shampoo the interior or detail anything. car is Really clean as is. Great Condition! Runs smooth. Some wear and tear from being 27 years old. Minor chip paint and some wear on the interior leather but no tears. Car was garaged when not in use.
