I've owned this vehicle since 2009 and it was my daily driver up until two months ago. I drove it about 70 miles round trip daily to work and back home. This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300D has been solid, but it's time to let it go. The diesel engine starts and shuts off with no issues and I routinely did the oil changes. The valve adjustment and diesel purge was done at least once per year. The two front tires are just a few months old. Cosmetically the vehicle does show signs of wear both in the interior and exterior from use and age (see pics). The vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty and an immediate deposit of $500.00 is required.

1987 Mercedes 300D turbo diesel with automatic transmission. Converted to run on vegetable oil using a 2-tank Greasecar kit with additional modifications including fuel injector line heaters and adjustable fuel return line. The dual fuel system runs on regular diesel fuel or vegetable oil. The tires are like new - they hardly have any miles on them. It has a recent alternator, new battery and a new fuel pump. I recently had the fuel injectors out for service and upgraded some fuel system components. The engine starts instantly when you turn the key. The odometer stopped working soon after I bought it at around 165K miles and I estimate it has about 225K miles now. The paint on the top surfaces of the car is oxidized. The windshield has a crack on the passenger side. The A/C does not work.

We have decided to sell our beloved 1985 300D Mercedes Turbo Diesel that will run all day and all night on diesel or bio-diesel and/or waste vegetable and get 25 to 30 mpg. These cars are known to get over a million miles and this beauty has just 175,000 miles. She has been serviced regularly and is a safe and reliable daily driver. This specific car has been the subject of discussion on many radio shows as well as been featured in News paper articles. Essentially this 300D has been used in the Real Estate Industry. My wife who is the primary driver is an Evergreen award winner meaning, she is a Nationally recognized GREEN realtor. We have owned this vehicle for about 7 years and we purchased it as a promotional tool specifically to run on Diesel and/or Waste vegetable oil that I myself would process from my home. In order for us to use this Mercedes along side a brand new Mercedes we needed to first find the very best 1985 Mercedes 300D available. Obviously we could not drive a well used 25 year old Mercedes Diesel in South Orange County. This vehicle had to be showroom condition and it was.....and still is today! After a very long search we found what we believe to be one of the very best in the country at the time and we found it right here in California. We purchased the Mercedes from a Mercedes Engineer and was carefully covered in dry storage for many years. The rest is history About the car... This 300D is in, close to like new condition, excellent inside and out as well as mechanically. It was repainted 6 years ago, there are no scratches or dings and the paint shines. The roof was showing a flat spot so it was just painted last week by the same shop that we have used for years. There are a couple of tiny blemishes in the paint but I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. Interior is also 9.5+ out of 10, no tears in seats, no splits in the dash, wood trim is exceptional 2 sets of OEM Carpets are included in Black and tan, exceptional. Naturally, The Black set is more practical so the tan set we removed and kept stored. Mechanical New brakes and slotted rotors front and back were just installed about 100 miles ago. Radiator was replaced at 150,000 miles Complete new OEM Mercedes Compressor dryer and AC system installed at 150,0000 AC Blows cold. In addition to the regular Diesel tank, there is a 10 gallon tank in the trunk that takes, Diesel, Vegetable Oil or Bio diesel. The processing equipment comes with the vehicle however you can choose what you would like to run this car on....your choice!.....Recently we just went finished 300 gallons of vegetable oil so we have been filling both the rear tank and the regular gas tank with Diesel for huge fuel range. It is very difficult to describe this car because it is such a beautiful and exceptional example. It really needs to be seen and I can assure you this has to be one of the best 1985 Mercedes 300D on the market today. The price I am asking is very low and it includes all the WVO processing Equipment that I have about $2000 into. There is also over $1000 of work into the vehicle to enable it to run on the optional fuels. "The equipment was installed by a Diesel Engineer in Torrance" This is a car that you can drive and easily maintain for many years to come and still sell for as much or more than you paid for it. Its a no brainer of an investment. The bad!....Its a very short list. there is a loose wire in the harness that runs through the grommet in the drivers side rear passenger door. Therefor the driver and rear right side passenger window is not rolling down. This did happen about 6 years ago and cost $75 to fix. It seems to have come loose again. I have not had time to have it looked at because it was in the paint shop. The rear window tint is starting haze, I believe we were told this would happen eventually when they installed it due to the rear window defroster....I believe was what they told us at the time. The other windows are perfect its just the rear window. This Mercedes has been worked on in the past by Hi-line Mercedes out of Orange, CA and they have told us this is one of the very best they have ever seen. It was designed and built in around 2010 and there was a story on it in the Orange County Register. Here is the link: ocregister.com/articles/oldroyd-328327-car-oil.html There are 2 x insulated 55 gallon drums with drum heaters. The first drum on the right side allows you to pour really nasty vegetable oil and let it settle while the contaminants sink to the bottom where upon there is a waste discharge valve to pour waste from the lower level. If you choose to speed up the process the drum heater will heat the oil very quickly to where it is steaming hot and very fine and again the waste will sink to the bottom very quickly. When the 55 gallons are ready there is a transfer pump on the lower right that will pump the oil into the left side drum. There is a drum heater on the left side drum too. The process is a centrifuge system using centrifugal force similar to the centrifuge on a big rig that cleans the air brake fluids. The centrifuge is powered by a second pump which pulls from the bottom and cycles around and discharges at the top. The second pump can process about 55 gallons in about 25 minutes but in turn it can clean the oil down to just one or two Microns depending how many times you polish or cycle the oil. Typically I will cycle it 4 or 5 times. When the oil is ready we have a 3rd pump which is the middle pump, this pushes the oil through a water separator and then through a final 10 micron sock type filter in the blue canister, through the filter out of the gas pump trigger and hose. The system works beautifully and will polish oil very much finer than a cartridge or filter system. All in all I have around $2000 plus in parts. Everything works flawlessly. This system will process thousands of gallons of fuel with very little maintenance and pay for itself in no time. Buttercup is a 1978 Mercedes-Benz 300D NA in Maple Yellow with Bamboo interior. This car has been very well loved and very well maintained. It will come with every service document related to the car from the day it came off the lot in 1978, including the original sales contract. This car is a joy to drive and is very reliable -- we have driven it on several 1,000+ mile trips around California with absolutely no issues. 26 mpg! Exterior:Original Maple Yellow paint is in very good condition with few blemishes. There are a normal amount of dings here and there, but no major paint issues. The car was rear-ended some time ago and there is a small dent in the trunk lid and a wrinkle to the left of the license plate. The original owner never bothered to have it fixed since it happened 15 years ago. Interior:The interior is immaculate. All original wood trim is uncracked and undamaged. All seats are original MB-Tex with exception of half of the driver’s seat which was partially recovered. All seats and armrests are untorn and uncracked. All instrument cluster lights have been replaced, and all instruments work except for the clock. The dash has some cracks, but a dash mat is included. The headliner is sagging a little and needs new retaining clips but is otherwise in good shape and has no stains. The door panels are clean with minimal wrinkles. The seat upholstery is pulling away at the top of the knee-kick on the backside, but it just needs to be re-tucked. It never bothered us enough to do it. All power windows work. An original Mercedes-Benz hazard triangle hangs in the trunk. Mechanical:Within the past 2,500 miles it has had a lot of servicing: The front tie rods, idler arm, drag link, and steering damper have been replaced. The engine vacuum pump has been replaced. The brake booster has been replaced and the brake system has been flushed. The transmission has been serviced including a filter and fluid change. The oil and oil filter has been changed. Both fuel filters have been changed. Within 1,000 miles the valves were adjusted, a diesel purge has been done, and both rear end links were replaced. Within 100 miles, all 5 glow plugs have been replaced. The vacuum system has no apparent leaks. Central locking works well, and the engine shuts off immediately when you turn the key off. The climate control system works reliably. The defroster is very good in the cold mornings and the air conditioning works and blows cold enough to maintain comfortable cabin temperature, but could use a recharge in the near future.Documentation:Every known record related to this vehicle will be included from the original purchase contract from Mercedes Benz in 1978, to dealership service records, to handwritten notes by the original owner about the neighbor lending a jump-start -- it’s all there. Odds and ends:The odometer reading is only an estimate. It had been stuck for some time before we got ahold of it, fixed it, and wound it forward based on the previous owner’s driving habits and documentation provided. It currently sits in the neighborhood of 402,000 miles.
