I am the 3rd owner and I believe this has been a CA car since new. I also believe the car has 114856 miles on it. This is probably one of the nicest 280SEL 4.5 you'll find in the country. Hop-in and drive it anywhere with new worries!! Here are some thing that were done.Exterior: sanded down to metal and completely resprayed to original color. wheel wells and undercarriage resprayed with undercoatingaluminum wheels have been refinished and have brand new tires. new rubber seals : all the doors, windshield and rear window, side windows, trunk etc.some new nickel plating was done, all the chrome is original and in great shape. 1961 Mercedes 220SEB with only 73 k miles , coupe 2.2 Liter 6 cylinder 4 speed Manual transmission full numbers matching car.This car has very early VIN ,it would actually read 111.021-10-019479. The 19479 serial and the 001351 engine serial would put this car in the fist couple hundred coupes ever made. There for the 5-pleat seats that were based on the seat covers of the sedans. 4-pleat seats became standard in November of '61. The coupes were first produced on August 17th of '61 and it was made just a few weeks later.This is very rare factory A/C option car ! The first year of this body style this car is in very good overall original condition has nice exterior and nice interior as well. The car has been in storage since 1983 and is currently not running will need a mechanical tune up. Body is very straight with only a few minor body blemishes. The chrome bumpers could use replanting but besides that a very nice clean original car. It will be perfect candidate for minor restoration project. Many extra parts comes with the car !! This Mercedes Benz was designed for cursing the open Highway, it is stable at any speed. The 219 was Built in the Ponton era only for 3 years between 1957 and 1959. It incorporated the big engine the heavy frame, and mounted with the smaller sedan Body. The 4 speed on the column shifts smoothly. Includes in the glove compartment the 219 owners manual, and an original advertisement If you live a great distance from Florida, I recommend flat bed it home as I did from the West Coast of the United States. The person who is interested in this classic, should be familiar with these cars. Come Test Drive it ! I drove a 219 like this for 15 years; although, this is a really good example it will require appropriate attention to keep it up and continue to be improved upon.
