1956 Chevrolet Belair Convertible-Project-NOT THE CAR PICTURED! READ BELOW! Chassis-Cleaned prepped painted, Heidt's IFS suspension and Heid't IRS suspension as well. Has had a Chevrolet LS engine and a 4L60E transmission installed. Body-Currently at an excellent body shop, all body work done and the first base color applied. Ready for the second color and scheduled to be done in the next couple of weeks. I followed the Chip Foose 56 paint scheme with the coffe and cream color applied 1" over the stainless and below. The second color is a cream and will be applied above that line. I have most or all of the interior, including the original seats. It is in original condition, and would need to be redone. There will be a picture of a very similar paint job I did on a 55 Belair Convertible I sold last year in the pictures. Convertible Top Frame comes with the car. Wheels and tires are only for transportation Some or most all of the trim comes with the car, as weel as bumpers. The car comes without a drive train. But setup for the LS engine and 4L60-family of transmissions. Selling the car "as is" or I will continue managing construction of the vehicle for a reasonable shop rate. Up for sale is your chance to own a very nice convertible project and save a lot of money. I have spent countless hours on this car over a period of about four years and have invested a lot of money in this project that is very near completion. Sadly I must at this time part with this car for personal reasons. More than 100 larger photos at http://imgur.com/a/L8Ez7 High quality fiberglass body construction by Prototype Research http://www.prototyperesearch.com/55chev_walk.htm An original rust free chassis has been cleaned, inspected and an X member added to provide the required stiffness. Engine is a fuel injected 305 V8 coupled to a four speed automatic overdrive transmission. I have spent a lot of time and even more money finding and buying the parts needed to complete this car. Included are several expensive convertible only items you need to assemble this car. I am offering this car and countless parts for only one thousand dollars more than what the empty fiberglass shell would cost you with the crating charge ($750) they add. You would then need to find a chassis, and spend many thousands more for the parts that I am including in this sale. The body has been meticulously blocked sanded and is very straight and ready for primer (included) The engine, transmission and the complete wiring harness was carefully removed from a Chevrolet pickup with only 67000 miles on the odometer. The engine starts right up and runs smooth and strong like it should. I have full documentation for the truck including the VIN and original build sheets showing all options. This information and the fact that the original wiring harness was used (including the service diagnostics plug) means that any garage can plug in their scanner and service this vehicle. The wiring is not a cut up mess like many of the fuel injection conversions. All of the factory connectors remain in place. Any technician will be pleased to work on the drivetrain of this car as they can use the manual for the Chevy pickup. Parts list is at the bottom of the page… I am sure that I have more that what is listed ! Tittle / Registration documents: I have not registered the car as a convertible after swapping the original body for the fiberglass body. I do have the Ontario ownership documents (in my name) and the VIN tag for the donner 1955 car that supplied the chassis the body is resting on. Ontario does not issue vehicle tittles. The car is wet in most of the photos as I wanted to remove the dust and to show how straight the car is by giving the car a shine. Differences in color are areas that have dried. Location: The car is at my home in Belleville Ontario Canada on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Nearest major city is Syracuse NY. I will do my best to be honest and try to tell you what you need to complete the car but please review the pictures and my description for what is included. To drive the car you will need brakes, exhaust system, a driveshaft & a shifter for the transmission. I do not have a windshield or door glass but do have the expensive convertible only rear quarter windows. The windshield and door glass can be purchased from any glass shop for a reasonable price as they are the same as the hardtops. No radio , wiper motor or drive parts. trunk hinges, or interior other than the front seat. Many of the trim and dash items have been only temporally installed for photos as I would be removing them to primmer and paint the car. While the entire wiring harness has been installed and the engine will start and run the final connections will need to be made at the dash switches and at the lights once the car is painted and final assembly made. All of the GM factory electrical connectors are installed and clearly marked. The front fenders and hood have not been shimmed once again because they will be removed for paint. An all-time popular color combination and the right options make this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible a great choice for the "Tri Five" Chevy enthusiast. Restored 7 years ago and well kept, it is entirely as-original and rust free and finished in bright Matador Red with a new Silver-on-Red interior and new soft top. Driving is easy with a 283 ci small block under the hood turning a 2-speed automatic, brand new power disc brakes have been added to the front of the car and the presentation is full dress: dual mirrors and rear antennas, full spinner wheel convers, wide whitewalls, fender skirts and a chrome-trimmed continental kit. This car in my opinion is a very, very nice car. It sold in 2012 at Mecum auction in Florida for $63,600 and looks as good if not better than it did then with the added power disc brakes, but this car is not perfect and I have never owned a perfect car. The price is a great steal at this quality of a great car. I just need the money for another investment.
