1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Original Dune Beige color. 3" Lift 33" BFG A/T. Power Steering. The tires are brand new (all 5, including spare) and the rims and hubs are in absolutely brand new, perfect condition. I purchased this FJ40 on eBay (item number 252060682370). It arrived exactly as pictured and described. Please review in detail the original listing and the 70+ pictures. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252060682370?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I have verified all mechanically is in fine working/driving order and I made several cosmetic improvements including: OEM front seats, refinishing the jump seats, new front and rear seatbelts, interior floor insulation, light refinish and repaint of interior front and rear floor, all new OEM interior door handles, all interior and exterior lighting has been replaced with OEM where needed and every interior and exterior light works, and correct original FJ40 pewter color replacement for several exterior components including the rear gas tank holders, license dome covers and OEM pewter wiper blades. The AM/FM cassette works fine aside from the antenna not being connected and hence no AM reception. I do have a new OEM antenna that will be included for the buyer to have installed. I also took out the front heater/blower and cleaned it up it is in great working condition and functions exactly as it should. I also have a reprinted original owners manual that will also be included. I am an absolute car clean fanatic and partial to keeping everything as original as can be, and at this point I am proud to show and drive this FJ40. The reason I am offering it for sale is that although the power steering really helps, it is still less of an everyday driver than I thought it would be, as I am learning are FJ40’s in general. I make many stops and starts between two job locations and kids pick up and drop offs, etc.…and with any 40year old car, no matter how nice of running condition, it can not be expected to operate as a newer model. Additionally, the 3" lift, while fairly discrete and great looking, definitely delivers a stiff ride. The lift was very well done, so good in fact that I must point out it would be difficult to reverse. Please keep this in mind when considering this purchase. I always had wanted one, I tried it out and determined it is not going work for me, but now with it cleaned up and original enough and confirmed strong running, for someone really looking for this particular vehicle, who knows what they are all about, I am confident in saying that this is as great of a presentable/driver one you will find. What this FJ40 is: Absolutely beautiful looking exterior (turns heads exactly as the first picture in this listing does). The interior is as clean as possible. The engine and mechanics are in strong running condition as far as I have experienced. It is as fine and nice looking and good driving of an essentially “unrestored” example as is for sale. What this FJ40 is not: It is not a frame off/new engine restoration. There are some paint bubbles on the exterior (under rear Toyota emblem, under rear spare gas tank cover, under main gas tank cover, on passenger front fender) and the interior floor is not perfectly repainted. Make sure and view the last picture in this listing with multiple shots of what I am describing here. The white roof is in great shape and looks fabulous as a contrast to the body color. It does have a few scrapes on the back top from what looks like pulling into a little too low clearance (it fits into 7' or higher clearance garages just fine). Although I do not feel it warranted and would not bother with any exterior or interior repaint as there is nothing structurally compromised as far as I can tell, and I would just leave as a beautiful looking driver. But out of anything that you may potentially want to do the paint would be it. In fact, quite honestly, the interior and exterior paint is about the only thing I can think of that you may want to do. That is not to say it is perfect by any means (the front seats for instance, while they look great, are 40 years old with stretch and some stitching coming undone, etc. they are not perfect, as many other inside parts while clean, are not “new” condition). So I will say again, while this is beautiful looking, clean and strong running, this is not a 100% restored FJ40. As you can tell from the overall tone and information I have provided in this listing, I am an extremely honest person. I have 100% positive feedback over 600 transactions, which for a normal eBay seller (not a store) to not have had one issue with feedback is nearly unheard of. I guarantee that if you thoroughly read this listing and review all of the pictures from this listing as well as the original listing, as listed is exactly what you will receive. I would prefer this car be sold only after you view it in person, and the buyer can arrange to take it from there. However, I will consider selling it sight unseen upon having a conversation with the buyer to fully arrange shipping. Please note, I will guarantee this will be put on a shipper exactly as it is pictured and running exactly as described, however, I can not have any responsibility once put on a shipper. So again, if there is anyway for you to view in person, I strongly encourage it, otherwise, please be comfortable in taking responsibility from there. In closing, the pictures, particularly in the original listing are very detailed, and combined with the pictures in this listing of the updates I have made, these pictures show you exactly what you are getting. In terms of mechanical, again, I personally can provide you with a 1 month history of not having any mechanical (engine) issues whatsoever. Cold and undriven for days, with full choke and 2 pumps of gas, this FJ has always started up for me every single time on 1 crank. Do expect normal 40 year old car "warm up" time, and when partially warm sometimes a few cranks are required, but from there it runs and idles perfectly. Dune Beige 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser in great condition. I'm a Land Cruiser collector and enthusiast who has owned over 30. Unfortunately I can't keep them all so I'm forced to thin the herd from time to time. If you follow these on eBay you might have seen some of the other Land Cruisers I've sold to happy buyers from all over the US and Canada. I bought this 40 sight unseen last year with plans for a complete frame-off restoration. After looking it over I felt it was too nice to restore. That being said, it does have some paint imperfections and bubbling here and there. Don't expect a show quality Land Cruiser, but it's just as much fun and will get as much attention as the $100K+ restored FJ40's. It runs and drives very well, especially with the power steering which was added by the previous owner. I had the rear differential rebuilt and it has a new carb, fuel pump, distributor and radiator as well. Clutch is strong, it shifts smoothly and the brakes are good. As you can tell from the pictures it has a 3" suspension lift and new 33x10.50R15 BFGoodrich All Terrain tires mounted on original steel wheels. 1970 TOYOTA FJ40 LANDCRUISER WITH TOYOTA POWER TAKE OFF (PTO) WINCH Survivor, mostly original 1970 FJ40 with original Toyota F inline six engine, Toyota 3 Speed column-shifted transmission, 4 wheel drive with original Warn locking hubs and Toyota Power Take-Off (PTO) winch. FJ40's have a factory VIN number stamped on the front driver's side chassis frame and the number for my FJ40 matches the inner driver's side door VIN plate. I bought this classic cruiser in Albuquerque, New Mexico where two previous owners resided. This vintage SUV runs and drives great. All electrical components work. I installed new Toyota wheel covers and I still have the faded original hubcaps that I will include with the sale. This vehicle is a prime candidate for a high-end restoration due to having many original components and unique, hard to find options. This FJ40 has protective light grills which are uncommon and give it a rugged and unique look. Front and rear bumpers are heavy duty and a vintage tow hitch is installed. The motor, transmission, 4x4 and PTO winch all run without issues. A new clutch kit was installed in August 2014 (I have receipts of the work). The rear and front floor pans are solid, there is some small rust areas in the passenger side lower panel below the passenger door and near the upper spare tire hinge as seen in the pictures.
