This is one of the cleanest fj62 projects I have seen, everything on the inside works, power windows, wipers, mirrors, etc, the carpet is worn in spots, has the normal wear on the drivers seat, the headliner is clean and not sagging, but the dash pad is cracked, and also the windshield is cracked. The outside is almost rust free, with the exception of the right quarter panel at the top of the mud flap, and the lower right fender that has some previous low quality repair, at some point it had an inexpensive repaint with a sloppy tape job but as you can see in the pics it has a good shine. It has no signs of ever being in a major accident, it does have small dings here and there, but all the gaps on the body panels are correct, and all 4 doors open and shut as if they were new. The bad news is the engine, the previous owner overheated the engine, pulled the head himself, and some machine shop told him the head was cracked. The short block is there and spins with the starter. This was running and driving as of 6 weeks ago. I have already located a few used engines. so look at the pics, look at what the other FJ62s are selling for. You can buy it as a project, and get it running for less than $2k if you put an engine in it your self, or I have a full service restoration shop where any repairs you would like to have done after the sale could be arranged. Just let me know what your budget is and I will tell you what I can do for you, a used engine, new engine, auto body repair and paint, ill put a 12 valve in it with a 5spd if you want to spend the money. RUST FREE VEHICLE. NO ACCIDENTS. At 127,xxx miles, this truck in the elite class of cruisers of this era because it has such few miles and because it lived its life (except the first year, in San Francisco) in the South (Thomasville, GA), and never saw road salt (nor dirt, apparently), and as such, escaped the rusty grave of so many of these otherwise legendary rugged units. It is literally in the top few percent. This vehicle saw a $7,000 mechanical restoration at Covington Toyota's service department, which gave it new front disc brakes, maintenance on replacement of parts of the 4WD system, replacing gaskets in the engine, transmission/transfer case, differentials, and axles, and performing a full mechanical inspection. Toyota also completely rebuilt the air conditioning, including a new compressor, so AC blows cold. This was sold as a base model (affectionately known in the Cruiser Community as a “poverty pack”); no electric door locks, windows or mirrors. This is a bonus, as you avoid the electrical gremlins in the old electric systems of a 25-30 year old machine. This has a simpler electrics harness and many fewer electric parts, so it has fewer things to break and is more in keeping with the truck’s Spartan heritage and intended uses. The original radio is in there, and works perfectly (although I have unplugged it in favor of the newer head unit beneath it - see pictures). This car is a 4-Speed automatic, (the only transmission offered in the FJ62 (1998-1990), with EOD. Fuel injected, NOT carbureted like the FJ60 series. This vehicle has never been off-roaded, and has been a grocery-getter its entire life. It spent all but a few years garaged every day, so the dashboard is mint condition. As far as the work performed at Toyota (work order is available upon request): In September 5, 2013, I took this truck to Toyota for a mechanical inspection and told Toyota's service department to inspect and fix every part of the drivetrain, brakes, and suspension and air conditioning that needed maintenance. The truck was at Toyota for four months to complete all of this work. I spent $6,855 on this inspection and repair. Toyota did the following:Replaced all gaskets and seals that needed replacement, including the transmission gaskets, main gasket, differential gaskets, oil pan gasket, axle gaskets, front end seals, and more.Replaced shifter bushings;New disc brakes and calipers installed, drums machined, system bled.4WD system maintenance performed and 4WD lockers replaced or repaired as needed.New Toyota AC compressor installed and AC system rebuilt, so AC blows cold.Car fully inspected for any other maintenance items, none required.This car is in peak mechanical condition. $750 spent to buy, paint, and install a new old stock lift gate. New battery and battery cables. New Hankook Optimo tires were installed in 2012 and only have about 10k miles on them. New Sony iPod-compatible head unit installed, and four new weather-resistant Polk speakers installed, although I did not do the wiring properly for the front two speakers, so they are not connected. Interior lights replaced with bright, low-power LEDs. ALL MAINTENANCE PERFORMED, OIL CHANGED EVERY 3k MILES. Needless to say, this vehicle does not leak or burn oil. The costly mechanical maintenance work has already been performed on this vehicle: Toyota Service replaced all under-car seals and gaskets and has no fluid drips or leaks of any kind, including the engine, transmission/transfer case, differentials and axles. The engine bay is quite clean. 4-wheel drive works flawlessly. The mechanical condition of the vehicle is amazing, no known issues, does not overheat, everything works, including the original electric antenna (a minor miracle). The wheel-wells, bumpers, undercarriage…all quite clean and rust-free. This vehicle was simply not used as intended. This is a respray, repainted when ~6 months old. Odd-sounding story, but true: The original owner bought this truck for his wife as a surprise, but the only one on the dealer’s lot was this base model in “Freeborn” red, but the deal was good and the truck was awesome, so he bought it and took a chance. She loved it, but she HATED the color. Her complaining became more than he could handle, so he took it back to the dealer to trade in for a new one in a different color. The depreciation was a deal-killer, so he just had Toyota repaint it for $3,500, a relatively expensive job at the time. Has an aftermarket sunroof (ASC, top of the line) installed. This stopped working in the past year, but I have the manual and replacement parts (probably a motor or poor ground) can be ordered if needed. The sunroof will leak if there are any obstructions in the drain lines Stock rig except the aftermarket sunroof. The rear bumper has a small dent, dead center, but is totally acceptable to be left alone. The car has a brand new windshield and gasket. New old stock Toyota original headliner installed about a year ago. Paint is in decent shape and is presentable. The paint in the immediate area around the sunroof has clear coat peeling and color fading. Some clear coat peeling on the driver side door. A few minor dings in the body. Comes with a pair of Yakima roof rack bars, (with locks and keys). VIN #: JT3FJ62G7J0076468 Bottom line: This car is in amazing mechanical condition. A new paint job, plus fixing a few of the small dings, maybe new bumpers and fixing the small tear in the driver's seat, and you have an as new FJ62. I will miss this car. True Resto-Mod 1988 FJ62 frame off restoration that was professional crafted by hotrod builder Bruce Gieg in Southern Oregon. No expense spared on this project. This is a super clean Texas FJ62 that starts right up every time. She's a dependable daily driver or keep her in the garage for your weekend adventures. Has a few minor imperfections that are visible in the pictures and can be expected on a 27 year old vehicle, but generally speaking, this is a very good condition FJ62. 1989 Toyota FJ62, nice original classic just turned 150,000mi nice driving and very dependable truck 4wd. I Have all original paperwork from day it was bought ( Owners manual, order form, key code tag) I am the 2nd owner. Original owner whom is about 70 now never drove in winter and was stored in shop when not in use. All parts original to FJ except work I have done: Front Sway Bar links, Exhaust from Cat back, Brakes, Air Cleaner & Belts. Original Floor Mats, Radio, Tool Kit & Jack. Lots of head turns and thumbs up when cruising down the highway @80mph! I would drive this anywear! Needs Carpet in back, I have a piece of Heavy duty vinyl fastened down to protect metal, some bubbling of paint around wheel well edges but metal very solid (See pics) Any questions just call 920-530-2006, FJ Located near Green Bay, WI 54162, Truck can sit till delivery arrangements are made.
