1980 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ 40 Diesel. A European delivery car, sold new in Portugal. Portuguese cars are unique, since they have the classics looks of the pre 1978 models, and the improvements of the later European models. This particular three owner car, I am the third owner, was delivered with the trusty 4 cylinder B engine delivering 80 HP and 141 NM of torque mated to a 4 speed gearbox. Was always properly maintained, and in 2013 had a light mechanical, and a full body and paint restoration in Portugal. It was imported to the U.S. in 2015, and is titled in Texas. Starts right away, runs, drives, and shifts smoothly, and does not have any noticeable suspension, or steering noises. The frame is perfect, and there is not rust in this car. The original Toyota split rims, Americans do not seem to trust them, have been replaced by 5 new BF Goodrich AT tires, mounted on 5 powder coated Toyota original rims, and 5 new Toyota original hubcaps. 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ 40 Diesel. Off white / Black. A very late European car delivered new in Portugal. Portuguese cars are very very unique. They have some of the improvements of the later cars, and some of the classic looks, vent windows, of the earlier cars. This particular car was working as a managers car at a quarry outside Lisbon, and then as a support vehicle for one of the biggest construction companies in Portugal. The paint is original, the interior, what is left, is original too. It is a four speed with drum brakes, heater, free wheeling hubs, and a roll cage.The split rims still have the original paint, and the 6x16 off road tires are in good shape. The engine starts inmediately, and runs and drives well. The frame is in excellent condition, Lisbon is the European capital with the mildest weather in the European continent with very little rain and no snow, but the body has some rust holes. This holes, see photos, are mainly located at the bottom of the windshield, and at the bottom of the doors. Reproduction windshields are readily available. This car has had some rust repairs in the front right floor, see photo of the bottom of the car, and in the rear cargo area. This repairs seem more to prevent the car from rusting, than rust repairs. Looks worse than actually is, lots of surface rust in the hood. Has lots of patina, comes with an extra hood, and is a good oportunity to acquire a unique European version. Drive " as is", and restore later. THIS IS A RARE LEFT HAND DRIVE DIESEL. THE MILEAGE IS 344,000 KM = 213750 MILES. THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING FROM A BOTTLE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
