This is a twenty year old vehicle with the potential to be restored as a VW classic. It has a manual 5-speed transmission, which is increasingly rare in this day and age. The body overall is in adequate shape; there are no major dents or rust. The roof has no tears or holes. This is a mechanic's dream. The only thing needed is a replacement engine, but everything else on it works just fine. Smooth ride, decent body (some nicks here and there, but hey, it's a 20 year old car), clean interior. Many people say they hate parting with the cars they're selling, but I truly hate the fact that I have to sell this thing. I'm no mechanic. I replaced this car with a Volkswagen Eos, and every time I see a 90s VW Cabrio on the road, it burns me up inside. I'm hoping I can sell this to someone who can do a better job looking after it. And if I see you on the road driving it, I'll be pleased that you're enjoying it, but I'll also be a little jealous too. The car is being sold for $1950, but I'm flexible. Reasonable offers only. Don't try and pull the 'fifty bucks' routine. Given the fact that the car is inoperable, the buyer is responsible for towing/transport. As I have indicated, I am willing to negotiate the price taking into consideration its condition providing it is reasonable. This is a used car in great original condition. It has low mileage.The car has been well maintained. Ive included a list of the many recent jobs completed on this car below.The car has had minimal mileage put on since all the work listed below was complete.As you can see in the photo, parts are new.The car does have some dings and some scratches, but it has never been in an accident. Up for sale is a very nice 1998 Black Volkswagen Cabrio 2-Door Convertible. New paint, new clutch, new battery, recent tune-up, recent compression test on engine, new exhaust, new transmission, new convertible top motor. There is a small tear on the convertible top (see photos), nothing major. Also, have original factory 17" stock wheels (if buyer prefers them). 1991 Volkswagen Cabriolet Convertible. Inspected through July. 100k mi. It starts right up and runs great. It is surprisingly powerful for a 4 cyl. There is a slight belt squeal, which my brother says is the alternator belt. There is A/C and it works but when you turn it on it seems to bog the engine down. The front windows are power and don't work but, thankfully the top does (it was replaced a few years ago). The back windows are crank style and work. The dash is in great condition with no cracks, etc. All gauges work. The back seat is also in great condition with no tears or discoloration but the front seats are weathered from the sun. It was hit on the right side (as you can see in pics) and the passenger door was replaced. The inside arm rest isn't on but I do have it. The carpets need re attached. I think the previous owner replaced it but didn't actually attach the carpet - lovely. A local garage I took it to for oil change said there is no rust at all underneath. There are only a few small spots of rust except for where it was hit. The right rear axle is bent but the garage where I had a lot of work done says it isn't dangerous - you will just go through tires quicker in the back then you normally would. I do have two of the center caps but they're not on because the tire shop I went to when I first got it didn't tighten the bolts enough and one by one they flew off. I was lucky enough to get two of them. Cruise control works intermittently - I'm not sure why. I hope I have covered everything. If you have any questions please send me an email. But I'm mainly selling it "as is"as a parts car, since it has some body damage and a wiring issue. But it could easily be fixed up and be a great Summer vehicle. Please read entire description view all photos on the bottom and top of the listing, car was in accident and will need some light body work will need to be towed . 1997 Volkswagen Cabrio 84,779k runs excellent does lot drive , car was involved in an accident and will need light body work , please look at photos and video , everything works accept the a/c do to accident, car was bought 5/16/13 with 68k it now has 84,779k in 2014 it received a brand New Convertible top , top is still New , please take the time to view photos and video, there is no frame damage accident is light to the pop left un top of the frame , interior is mostly clean driver seat showing some wear please look at photos , left side door molding is not on the door however it is in the car and can be put back on , rest of the body is clean some dings and bumper scrape please look at photos , i dont have the radio code , car will jump start but will need a battery title is clean on hand with lien release. Car will drive on a truck but will need to be towed due to needing radiator , it is the buyers responsibility however i will assist in any way that i can , depending were you are delivery may be possible 2$ mile, there is a 250 deposit via paypal do 48 hours after listing end , the rest can be cash at time of pick up , or cashiers or mo no later then 10 days after listing end all funds have to clear before pick up. this is a 1988 cabrio a lot of time was spent on this new paint fuel pumps gauges fairly new top but small tear from storage custom grille trim eliminataed has the reto fiftys cruiser look missing door cards nice carpet rear panels have cards fuel pump is jumpered to run needs relay haven't looked into it gauge cluster is nice no rust around the windsheilds like many cabbys in this era/ some small rust spots and a few dents on car small being dime size or less floor pans very clean exaust needs to be repaired and needs water pump and time belt it runs and drives but I would dolly or trailer it water pump is pretty noisy all in all this is a very custom car gets alota looks needs some finishing and repairs body dings ect mostley from being stored so long and it would be a great car priced to sell if a person wanted to drive this repairs could be done here fore a fee if trailering wasent a option? also I will help make arangements if you want this transported thanks again """"
