This is a very nice, solid original California car, rust free, brought to Oregon over a year ago. It was previously in covered storage in California since 1993. Currently the miles are at 90,542. I have gone through the car, and replaced the following. All new front and rear brakes, including master cylinder, calipers, rotors, wheel cylinders, hoses, hardware, etc. The clutch was replaced, flywheel machined, new ring gear, pilot bushing, throwout bearing, disc and pressure plate. Tune up parts, fuel pump, and other items replaced as well. The transmission and overdrive units were rebuilt by Ray Marty, of Marty Enterprises of Oregon. He also rebuilt the carburetor. (martyenterprisesoforegon ) The rear transverse spring and stainless muffler were replaced, they came from Spitbits. The overdrive makes this a car you can drive anywhere at highway speeds, very desirable. The car was recently tuned by Brian at Brian's British, of Newberg, Oregon. Lots of other things were done to the car, I can show you over $4600 spent on recent receipts, not including labor. I had the wheels powder coated, and four new tires installed. Nice car with original paint, and a decent interior. Paint checked on rear deck lid. Ready to drive and go at this time. Will need a new top, along with a new owner. Included is the tonneau cover for passenger compartment, or boot. Also have the original smog pump, piping, and related parts removed from the car. Clear Oregon title, in my name. I have a copy of the California title, and the original blue plates. It was in non-op status in California prior to my purchasing it, and I have the Craigslist ad documenting that as well. Also included is the original owner's manual, keys, and receipts dating back to the original owner. I will ship the car, with you making the arrangements and paying for it. I can store the car for a short time for free if needed. Any other special needs need to be worked out in advance. Payment: Non refundable $200 Paypal deposit within 24 hours of sale. The remainder of payment to be made by electronic bank transfer or wire. Or if local, will accept cash in person. Car is for sale locally, so reserve the right to end sale before ad expires. Up for sale is a 1970 Triumph Spitfire. This is the very last year of the early Spitfires. The early spitfires were virtually the same in appearance from their inception through 1970, so the car looks like the first model produced around 1963-1964, except for the front bumper and valence. After this year, and perhaps towards the end of 1970, the later style Spitfire was produced. This car has a 1300 engine, and currently has a 327 differential installed, which came from a GT6. This makes overdrive completely unnecessary as you can cruise at highway speeds of 70 mph at around 3900 rpms. Just don’t think you can spin your tires when starting up. If spinning your tires is important and not higher speeds with low rpms, then simply replace the 327 differential with the 411 or 389 differentials which come along with the car sale. It takes me about ½ day to swap a differential in a spitfire. The engine was refurbished with new rings and bearings, engine completely dissembled and honed. Engine compression is around 170 in all cylinders. Oil pressure is excellent. Both compression and oil pressure can be viewed prior to purchase. Transmission works very well also. Car has good brakes with all new brakes lines, new radiator, new generator, good starter motor, good fuel pump, good tires, a lot of new front end and rear end parts, and many other favorable drive train attributes. The car has NO RUST. This can be verified by examination. Also, by examination, you can determine that the car has not been in an accident. As a matter of fact, I would place a bet with someone that I could drive it to Jacksonville, Florida and back within four days. Would be willing to bet $4,000, so if anyone wants to make that bet, let me know. That said, the car can more than obviously be driven home. If the car was painted and some new interior parts replaced, this car would be fantastic. It does has some issues though. The speedo gauge doesn’t tell the exact mileage due to the differential swap. Also, the high beams don’t work. There are things like that that need to be addressed. I will be adding more pictures soon. This is a good car for further restoration considering no prior accidents, no rust, and drivetrain is in good order. Or just drive it now and have fun. An extra front windshield also comes with the car. I also have a factory original hardtop which I am selling separately. The hardtop has the original glass and has all new rubber seals. The hardtop has no rust and is painted black. However, it doesn’t have the ceiling cloth headliner.

By bolting on this brand new fresh cylinder head you should instantly recapture the "Thrill of youth" as well as see your tired old Spit run like a new car again.I purchased this Finished Head a few years ago in order to complete a Spitfire restoration I was doing. By the time it arrived, I had finished the car and could not bring myself to take it apart again. The head has been in dry storage wrapped up in oil cloth ever since. The head is stamped with the serial/part # (515973) and on the face it is stamped (008). If you are for any reason (or no reason at all) dis-satisfied with this item, I (upon the return of the head) will instantly and cheerfully send you a full refund, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!I am happy to entertain any and all offers on this part. I've decided to clear out some of my Triumph cars. These two I had always considered together and I'll explain why - you may have other intentions. Both have clear titles in my name and are registered in Pennsylvania. You will get both titles to transfer out of my name and into yours. Cars can stay where they are until Thanksgiving weekend of this year, but must be paid for prior within one week of this auction (unless you make other arrangements with me). I will not be held responsible while the cars are sitting here 'in storage'. Buyer is also responsible for removal and shipping/hauling the cars. I have more pictures if you need to see more or something specific. Cars are available for viewing before bidding ends. Both cars are not in any condition to be driven home even for a short distance. Actual mileage of either car is unknown - the 99999 was only because Ebay wants a number. The 1975 red Triumph Spitfire was purchased by me back in the mid 90's - I drove it as much as possible up until the summer of 2005. This car made several long trips during that time period - Boston area x 3, Erie, New Jersey shore x 2, and more. I would drive it to work when I could, which in it self is a 100 mile round trip. This car has PA Antique plates, which will go with the car if you wish. The car was purchased in the Williamsport area. Supposedly it was a wedding gift to the young couple I had purchased it from - they were moving to Portland OR and felt they couldn't take the car. The car had been 'restored' by the bride's father - not really restored, more like repaired and repainted. The car was originally white with a tan interior. Engine is a strong runner, it never let me down at any time. In 2005, I stopped driving the car because the hydraulic slave cylinder for the clutch went bad. The car was parked in the garage with intentions of repairing it. That's where things started morph! In the mean time, I had bought several other Spitfires (I recently had as many as 8 different models). I am currently driving a 1980 Spitfire. I've started the car on several occasions but it is in need of a rebuild or restoration. The car is still pretty much the same as when I purchased it other than parts that wear or were needed to pass inspection. Anything major otherwise was done by the previous owner, so what you see in the pictures is what you get. The paint is bad but no holes or soft spots. I don't know if the PO put any putty anywhere, none to my knowledge. The top was new in 2001 and I think the brake master cylinder was replaced then too. The 1978 orange Spitfire with the hard top was one of many others I had purchased as I said. I bought the car pretty much as it is today. It was one of three I purchased at the same time from a local individual. The hardtop was purchased on Ebay from a local seller in western PA. My plan was to strip this car down to the frame and do a restoration of the 1975 Spit. That way, my plan was, that I could have a hardtop version and a convertible. Now you understand, right?! Anyway, I recently decided these a projects I will never get to and it is better to let them go to someone else. The auction is for everything you see in the pictures - I will even throw in an extra trunk lid that I have that would work with the orange car. Both cars need work, but could produce at least one really nice Spitfire. You could use the orange one to build a SCCA racer while driving the other one! Please ask questions - this is getting pretty long and wordy but I'm sure there are things you would like to know. Make me an offer - you never know what I would be willing to accept.
