Original production for the 912 model ran from 1965 through 1969. The designation was resurrected for the 1976 model year only; Porsche offered the 912E Coupe for the American market. It was priced at $10,845 and designated in-house as the Type 923. This U.S.A.-only model had a brief production run of only 2,099 examples. Rising fuel prices and lowered U.S. speed limits helped make the 912E a practical model during this time frame. Production commenced by May 1975, after the 914/4 was discontinued, and before the water-cooled four-cylinder 924s had arrived. As noted in factory advertising the 912E was powered by the 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed (flat) four-cylinder, fuel-injected 914-derived engine "which took Porsche engineers two years to develop and refine,” and shared the chassis and body styling of the 911 Carrera 3.0 Coupe. This boxer engine developed 86 horsepower and pushed the car to a stated 109-mph. The Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system used is often referred to as the Air Flow Controlled (AFC) system later adapted for use in the 911 series. In June 1976 912E production ended in Zuffenhausen with the completion of number 2,099. This final 912E also became Porsche's last air-cooled four-cylinder production car. THIS CAR WAS PURCHACED FROM THE SECOND OWNER THAT DID A COMPLETE NO EXPENSE SPARED WINDOW AND MOTOR OUT RESTORATION. THIS CAR WAS BUILT TO REPLICATE A 930 TURBO USING AUTHENTIC PORSCHE FACTORY PARTS AND TOP QUALITY PPG PAINT. THE PAINT IS IN FLAWLESS CONDITION WITH NO MAJOR SCRATCHES OR BLEMISHES TO MENTION. INTERIOR OF THE CAR IS IN IMACULATE CONDITION. CAR IS NUMBERS MATCHING 4CYL 5 SPEED FACTORY AC BUT NOT HOOKED UP. ONLY THING NOT ORIGINAL IS THE TWIN WEBER CARB SET UP. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK BEFORE BIDDING. $500.00 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT DUE WITHIN 24 HRS OF AUCTIONS END. Outside of the engine compartment, only badging and interior fitments distinguished the 912 from the 911, with true base cars having a three-dial dash as opposed to the 911s five-dial unit. A four-speed all-synchromesh transmission was standard with a five-speed optional. Most of the other usual 911 options were available including special order paints, a sunroof, and the unique soft rear window Targa top. In 1969, like the 911, the 912 rode on a stretched wheelbase, with flared fenders and redesigned gauges. That model year proved the last year for the 912 initial run, as the Volkswagen-produced 914 was set to assume the entry-level role for Porsche in 1970. In 1976, however, with the demise of the 914, Porsche resuscitated the 912 (now called the 912E) for one year only. The car utilized the 2.0 liter VW Type IV motor that had previously seen service in the 914. Porsche 912s languished for many years due to have two fewer cylinders than the 911. More often than not, this affordability placed the 912 in the hands of unsympathetic owners who subjected the cars to all manner of thoughtless ‘improvements” and “updates.” As long-hood 911 and 356 prices have increased, so too have 912 prices, and the cars are now treated with more regard than they were even just a few short years ago. Surprisingly, 912s aren't any less expensive to maintain or restore than a 911s so it’s best to stick with the good examples." ng-class="" hvt-set-active="vm.isActive" ng-click="vm.trackHemmingsLink($event)" notouch="">

1976 Porsche 912e Original Light Yellow (117), black interior. Late May '76 model. Only 74,000 original miles. Numbers matching, rust-free, no-accident, non-molested. Southern California car. These are becoming increasingly hard to find in original, solid condition. Only 2100 made, less than half that many left. It had been owned by a collector, recently brought out of storage and freshened up. Still had most, if not all of, the original factory parts installed. Mechanically and cosmetically rebuilt, the car was inspected and thoroughly gone through by the best Porsche techs who know these cars intricately. Everything tested from front to back, top to bottom, and refreshed with genuine Porsche/OEM parts where needed, retaining much of the original where possible. This is a complete top-tier restoration (we like to call it refresh as most of the original is there) from a Porsche enthusiast (have all records). Looks and runs like a new car. Even the A/C blows cold. And the heat makes the car toasty warm. Has the original fuel injection. And smog pump still installed. It is a blast to drive. This car is ready to have fun with, daily drive, or add to your collection. Includes Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Clean title. Please feel free to ask questions and to take a look at the car. Extra notes: Bursch headers are installed in place of heat exchangers to add a nice bit of performance, and to protect the engine., but original heat exchangers are included with the sale. Newer stereo installed, however the factory Blaupunkt stereo is also included as well as many extra parts. The window tint has now been removed for the factory look.

this is a 3 owner car. first owner had it for 8 years then sold it to his secretary who drove it for 29 years who sold it to me. i have every receipt back to 1976 when the car was new. this 912 has 104k original miles on its original motor. it has never been taken apart and still runs absolutely great. when i got it i had to go through the entire fuel system to get it back up and running. still has its original fuel injection which works great. i had to put a new muffler and the only option was a bursch so that's what it comes with. when i got the car it needed some rust repair on all 4 lower corners of the windshield and rear window. so i had that fixed and gave it a full window out respray. however, i did not get to sand and buff it. but the car still looks great so it never bothered me. all rubber seals and strips are new. i left off the rocker panels because i like the look. i have them and are included with the car. i rebuilt all the calipers. added stainless brake lines. this car originally came with only a 16mm front sway bar. i got rid of that and put sways from a 1976 911S front and rear. also i added a strut bar. the car handles great. the 14" fuchs are in great condition. The interior is also in awesome condition. the only thing that it could use is to recover the steering wheel but otherwise i would almost call it mint. everything works. all gauges, windows, sunroof, wipers, horn, pioneer radio. the only thing that i have not fixed is the a/c i have been driving this car around for over 6 months and it is a truly reliable driver. i just have way too many other cars to play with and i can't keep them all. car is located in hollywood, fl and inspections are welcomed and encouraged. $500 deposit is due within 24 hours and balance within 7 days thanks for looking

Up for sale is an extremely rare Porsche 912E. One of 2099 made and one of less than 500 made with factory AC and Sunroof. Car is also equipped with California emissions equipment- making it vitually impossible to find another this-well equipped. ***PLEASE NOTE- This car was off the road in storage for over 20 years and is now on the road and registered and running/driving*** About the Car: The car was recently bought and brought out of long time storage and freshened up with new paint (original white). Fuel system flushed. Tune up and new tires as well as a new windshield and seal. I do not have a lot of history on the mechanics of the car other than she was ready to run once tuned up. Also had a custom exhaust as originals are impossible to find for these. Sounds great and I'd say better than original sound. Equipped with:Factory AC (all functional but may need a recharge as air isn't ice cold)Factory electric sunroof (perfect working order)Brand new tires Low 79,600 milesBrand new windshield and gasketPeriod correct Porsche 8 track am/fm stereo2.0L electronic fuel injected motor (numbers matching)5 speed transmission (numbers matching)Fuch rims staggered with 15" rears and 14" fronts (may need a bit more polishing but look nice)New (textureless) undercoat. Looks great, doesn't hide anything and is not texturedPaint is 8 of 10 with a few very minor blemishesInterior seats have a little seam separation in the bottom cushionsMotor drips 3 or 4 drops of oil after a long drive. I don't believe it requires attention and loses very little but I do notice in garage a few drops after a long day of driving This is a very nice car that requires nothing. It is a very nice driver quality car that I have enjoyed driving. I am interested in a quick sale but only after buyer views the car or after asking questions and emailing, please serious buyers only. Email me and let's talk or arrange a meeting to see the car. Someone is getting a great deal on this very rare 912.

1976 PORSCHE 912E - 1 OWNER - 3.0L Euro Motor Vin: 9126001142Mileage: 165,431 You are looking at a 1 owner 76 912E with a 3.0L european engine swap. This car has been with the original owner since the day it left the dealership in New York. The car has a lot of history and all service, repair, part purchases, every document from 1976 including the original bill of sale is with the vehicle. The owner did enter the vehicle into several time trials (with some victories) that are noted in the history. The car is not in perfect shape but it is a running, daily driven vehicle. The body is solid with no major rust. It was repainted (same original color) several years back but it is not perfect by any means. The interior is all original but needs some TLC. The seats have covers as the original material is cracked, broken and needs replacement. Steering wheel was replaced with an aftermarket MOMO as the original steering wheel was falling apart. The owner recently modified the rear bumper by removing the bumperettes to give it a Euro look. What a fantastic car to drive. It does need some cosmetic work, but this car is road ready! The 3.0L motor was installed in the late 70s. It is a real Euro motor. The 3.0L engine pushed the 911 beyond 140 miles per hour (don't try on public roads) and gave it a 0-60 of under 6 seconds which was fast for it's time. The engine is based from the Turbo (minus the Turbo charger) and is equipped with K-Jetronic CIS fuel injection. The engine was recently rebuilt (within the last 2 years) completely by TuneRS Motorsports in Coral Springs, Florida. Since the rebuild the car has close to 10,000 miles driven on it. This vehicle is sold as Private. We are not a dealership.Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup/shipping.

SOLD AS IS NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTEES.Porsche 912E (1975-1976)[edit]After a six-year absence, the 912 was re-introduced to North America as the 1976 model year 912E (internal factory designation 923) which shared the "G-Series" bodywork with the 911S. The "Prototyp" Museum collection in Hamburg, Germany includes a 912E preseries vehicle constructed utilizing a 911 Chassis No. 911 520 1617 and four-cylinder VW-Porsche 90HP 2.0L Type 4 similar to the late-model 2.0L 914/4.[2] Once in production, the 912E was powered by an 86 bhp 2.0 L Volkswagen air-cooled engine, refined with a new Bosch L-Jetronic (Air Flow Controlled) fuel injection system. The 912E occupied the entry-level position left vacant by the discontinuation of the 914, while the new 924 – another Porsche-Volkswagen joint effort vehicle and the 914's official replacement – was being finalized and put into production. During the production run of May 1975 to July 1976, Porsche manufactured nearly 2,100 of the 912E, targeted to the United States market.
