EXTREMELY RARE, 1988 PONTIAC FIERO GT WITH T-TOPS, AUTOMATIC, ONLY 50,198 MILES, AMAZING CONDITION, READY TO SHOW AND GO!!! 1 OF 614 FACTORY T-TOP FIERO GT'S EVER PRODUCED!!! This is truly one of those unique opportunities to buy a collectible sports car that was ordered loaded up with rare options and has truly been pampered and extremely well maintained throughout its life. Hard to believe this car is now 29 years old! The body is in fantastic condition and was never in any accidents nor shows any rust anywhere. The original red paint still shines beautifully. Upon close inspection you will find a few very tiny rock chips along the front bumper but this is the original factory paint. I point out these minor flaws to let you know it is not absolutely flawless but I am confident the next lucky owner will be thrilled with its original condition. All of the original VIN stickers are present on all body panels. Pop-up headlights function perfectly. The body style on the Fiero GT is really quite sleek and this Red beauty attracts attention wherever it goes. Of the 6848 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT's produced, only 614 had the Factory T-Top option ordered and this is one of those rare optioned cars. This can be verified on the production sticker that shows the CJ8 Code that indicates this was one of the cars that GM sent to Cars and Concepts (C&C) to have the T-Tops installed before it was then shipped out to the dealer. The T-Tops are in great condition and come with the original T-Top cover bags. They fit snug and and tight and do not leak. It almost smells new! The tan cloth seats compliment the red exterior beautifully and are in amazing condition with no signs of wear. Dash looks perfect, center console looks new, carpeting looks great and original floor mats still look good. Power windows and power mirrors function properly. The original steering wheel and shifter show no wear which is amazing. All of the gauges and lights appear to be working correctly and the A/C blows nice and cold. This GT was ordered with all options including the power mirrors, windows, and cruise control and the only option not on the vehicle is a rear window defogger. It also has the very rare Performance Factory Sound Option with sub woofer. All of the speakers except the sub were replaced by me and the system looks original and sounds great. Overall the interior is simply show ready awesome! The Fiero's mid engine layout was chosen as a way to reduce aerodynamic drag and vehicle weight to improve fuel efficiency and for its handling, traction and braking benefits. The 1988 GT model is considered the most desired for many reasons. Numerous changes were made to the 1988 Fiero with the most significant one being a completely redesigned suspension to realize the full potential of the mid-engine layout. This new suspension included new two piece brake calipers and upgraded rotors. The GT model included the V6 motor with 43 horsepower more than the 4 cylinder, upgraded suspension and wider tires. Topping off the package was the new vented disc brake set up on all 4 corners. During the final year of production the Pontiac, MI plant where the Fiero was produced was shut down and Pontiac made the decision to cease production in February, 1988. There were only a total of 6849 Fiero GT's produced in this final year. Research shows there were some interesting comparisons of the Fiero GT to the Ferrari 308 and performance statistics would surprise the heck out of you on the Fiero. It is known that Pontiac purchased several Ferrari 308's for handling and engineering and comparison purposes. Some called the Fiero the mini Ferrari that was far more affordable. The original gold wheels are in excellent condition. Front trunk area looks like it did in 1988 and the engine bay and trunk are extremely nice and near perfect. The only two things not stock on this car (having been replaced by the previous owner) are the rear view mirror and radio. The original cassette was replaced by a factory Pontiac CD unit which matches perfectly and only an expert would know it is an upgrade. The rear view mirror was replaced with an auto dimming compass Pontiac model and again looks perfectly stock. This car is a fully loaded great example of this fine collectable mid engine American made machine. Deposit required within 48 hours of purchase. Not only does this one have a powerful 327 ci V8, but also a custom interior and exterior. So now you can have a very unique build that fits into any budget. There aren't many better colors on a mid-engine sports car than bright red, and the Fiero GT wears it quite well. In fact, Fieros have often been harvested to create replicas of exotic Italian cars, so it's nice to see one transformed into an exotic American. Because this Fiero GT is special, it has some standout features like the new front end with a more intricate design. It also looks more modern with the flip up headlights switched to narrow units behind flush-mounted glass (even the Lamborghini Diablo did that later in its life!) The ground effects, bold rear wing, and dual exhaust have a great custom look, but they were all actually direct from the factory. It's capped off with a nice set of Ruff Racing five-star wheels. Unlike the mid-engine European cars, the Fiero's design does not sacrifice interior space. This is thanks to a very upright design that gives you a very airy feeling. The tan leather seats are exceptionally comfortable because they are buckets borrowed from a C4 Corvette. It has the same tone of other tan interior elements such as the center console, carpets, door panels, and dash. This Fiero was built with plenty of comfort features such as air conditioning, power windows, and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo system. The driver gets a wood and leather three spoke steering wheel, and beyond that is a gauge package that includes a new Bosch tachometer with a redline that reflects the new motor. Many believed the Fiero could have handled a much larger powerplant than what went in at the factory. But what GM didn't accomplish, a few independent spirits did. So this Fiero GT is quite special with a 327 cubic-inch V8 motor in the original rear engine bay. This was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago, and is reported to produce around 350 hp. But more than just powerful, this small block is reliable with a new water pump and alternator installed in the last few months. The added power is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. So now this is a well-balanced mid-engine machine with plenty of power on tap, that also has a fully independent suspension, the Fiero's legendary lively steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and low-profile Falken Ziex tires. This is an interesting build that showcases the potential we all knew the Fiero had. Best of all this custom build easily fits into a budget. 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT. Professionally built 355 cubic inch Corvette TPI V8, motor has been balanced and the heads ported, 4 bolt main block, Howell wiring for injection, Zumalt engine mount kit modified by builder to achieve premium results. Unlike more common conversion kits, this set up locates the motor in a central position for superior weight distribution and power delivery, requiring custom heavy duty axles, as opposed to other kits which retain the light duty 4 or 6 cyl axles and wedge the V8 engine to one side requiring the frame to be cut to allow the water pump and pulleys to protrude int the wheel well area. Also with the aluminum heads and other accessories the engine adds only 70 lbs to the car. The other advantage of this conversion is the ability to have the car serviced as any other GM product. You can simply hook up the same scanners as you would any GM car and all the data and diagnostics are the same. This is not a spliced together, back yard, build but a carefully thought out and engineered conversion. Even an electronically actuated air door was crafted into the hood, or luggage compartment lid if you prefer, to remove hot air from the radiator when needed. And once again this modification is no "hodge podge" affair but was built with standard GM power seat motor and actuator parts which can be serviced or replaced, spare parts come with the car in case anything were to ever fail but this system has worked flawlessly over the life of the build. The car was built 15 years ago and has accumulated approximately 20k relatively trouble free miles. The only true repair needed was replacement of the injectors a year ago, which is a common issue with the TPI motors. It should be now good for another 20 years. The car started a stock GT with 132k miles, it was purchased as a recovered theft with no damage. Due to this, it has a clear transferable title that has a branding of "reconstructed, prior collision" a label the State of MA. attaches to many cars even though the has been no collisions? The car was not recovered with in the 30 day limit so the insurance company pays off the claim and then if later recovered the car is automatically "branded" That said, the car is in excellent condition, with all it's original panels and paint, there exists only a few minor chips and scratches, plus one spider cracking of the paint nearly impossible to notice unless you are looking for it on the right front corner of the bumper (see pic) The only other cosmetic defect is a small crack in the plastic quarter window on the drivers side (see pic) The interior is clean and in excellent condition, never smoked in, The car is always garaged and never used in inclement weather. After 20 years the my friend and the builder is looking to cut down his collection of cars to a more manageable level, this is the last of some 20 or so Fiero's whole or in parts, The best parts were used in this build and this is in my opinion the ultimate Fiero, some may have built wilder or faster ones but this car has a factory build quality to it that most others do not. Simply turn the key and go knowing you have the ability to take on some pretty exotic competition if you chose (Mustang, Ferrari. Porsche, ...) This is a Very Nice Original (Pretty much mint condition) 1984 Pontiac Fiero Indy Pace Car Edition one of a low production of 4speed manual trans Fiero Indy models loaded with options that are generally much more desirable then the much more common automatic version . The car has been Garaged and babied since new the paint is original and in excellent condition nothing has been touched up or repainted. the car spent most of its life in California . I bought it about 10 years ago from the Original Owner and it been stored in a heated garage and driven to shows and nice weather weekend outings since I owned it. I did have had the A/C system updated (R134) and serviced recently , and this car has a new factory matched headliner ( all of these cars no matter how well they were kept either have a sagging headliner from age or they have been replaced ) The seats are gorgeous in this car which is unusual to find in these cars , they had nice seat covers on them since new when most of the miles were put on the car so the seats are like new and have never been dyed or repaired, the original leather is still very nice showing no wear and are they are soft as new with no cracks or hard spots,Carpets are like new as well as the rest of the interior and factory floor mats . The tires are recently replaced with new B.F.Goodrich T/As & it has a new Delco factory type battery. It was thoroughly check out serviced recently and new calipers were installed due to some age related leaking just last year. The car is rust free and runs and drives like new and is factory original with the exception of service & maintenance items related to normal wear . I used to attend Fiero Meets at the Carlisle Shows and this car was consistently the best original one there. This car was shown with the original window sticker and manuals it came new with that will go with the car, as well as a number of original promotional items and the factory press release kit of the Indy Fiero . This cars condition & appearance is on par with a time capsule car that has been stored away since new with very little miles on it . But this car has been driven enough that it doesn't have any of the issues developing that most cars that sit for years unused develop once you start to drive them, this one is excellent , reliable and ready to drive & enjoy and priced way below what you could easily spend trying to restore one of these to this condition . The engine scoop was made by the same person that made the scoop for the real pace car, is one is non functional and car be removed and installed easily. The car was not modified in any way to install it attaches to the deck grill and foam on the base protects the painted surfaces.
