EXTREMELY RARE, 1988 PONTIAC FIERO GT WITH T-TOPS, AUTOMATIC, ONLY 50,198 MILES, AMAZING CONDITION, READY TO SHOW AND GO!!! 1 OF 614 FACTORY T-TOP FIERO GT'S EVER PRODUCED!!! This is truly one of those unique opportunities to buy a collectible sports car that was ordered loaded up with rare options and has truly been pampered and extremely well maintained throughout its life. Hard to believe this car is now 29 years old! The body is in fantastic condition and was never in any accidents nor shows any rust anywhere. The original red paint still shines beautifully. Upon close inspection you will find a few very tiny rock chips along the front bumper but this is the original factory paint. I point out these minor flaws to let you know it is not absolutely flawless but I am confident the next lucky owner will be thrilled with its original condition. All of the original VIN stickers are present on all body panels. Pop-up headlights function perfectly. The body style on the Fiero GT is really quite sleek and this Red beauty attracts attention wherever it goes. Of the 6848 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT's produced, only 614 had the Factory T-Top option ordered and this is one of those rare optioned cars. This can be verified on the production sticker that shows the CJ8 Code that indicates this was one of the cars that GM sent to Cars and Concepts (C&C) to have the T-Tops installed before it was then shipped out to the dealer. The T-Tops are in great condition and come with the original T-Top cover bags. They fit snug and and tight and do not leak. It almost smells new! The tan cloth seats compliment the red exterior beautifully and are in amazing condition with no signs of wear. Dash looks perfect, center console looks new, carpeting looks great and original floor mats still look good. Power windows and power mirrors function properly. The original steering wheel and shifter show no wear which is amazing. All of the gauges and lights appear to be working correctly and the A/C blows nice and cold. This GT was ordered with all options including the power mirrors, windows, and cruise control and the only option not on the vehicle is a rear window defogger. It also has the very rare Performance Factory Sound Option with sub woofer. All of the speakers except the sub were replaced by me and the system looks original and sounds great. Overall the interior is simply show ready awesome! The Fiero's mid engine layout was chosen as a way to reduce aerodynamic drag and vehicle weight to improve fuel efficiency and for its handling, traction and braking benefits. The 1988 GT model is considered the most desired for many reasons. Numerous changes were made to the 1988 Fiero with the most significant one being a completely redesigned suspension to realize the full potential of the mid-engine layout. This new suspension included new two piece brake calipers and upgraded rotors. The GT model included the V6 motor with 43 horsepower more than the 4 cylinder, upgraded suspension and wider tires. Topping off the package was the new vented disc brake set up on all 4 corners. During the final year of production the Pontiac, MI plant where the Fiero was produced was shut down and Pontiac made the decision to cease production in February, 1988. There were only a total of 6849 Fiero GT's produced in this final year. Research shows there were some interesting comparisons of the Fiero GT to the Ferrari 308 and performance statistics would surprise the heck out of you on the Fiero. It is known that Pontiac purchased several Ferrari 308's for handling and engineering and comparison purposes. Some called the Fiero the mini Ferrari that was far more affordable. The original gold wheels are in excellent condition. Front trunk area looks like it did in 1988 and the engine bay and trunk are extremely nice and near perfect. The only two things not stock on this car (having been replaced by the previous owner) are the rear view mirror and radio. The original cassette was replaced by a factory Pontiac CD unit which matches perfectly and only an expert would know it is an upgrade. The rear view mirror was replaced with an auto dimming compass Pontiac model and again looks perfectly stock. This car is a fully loaded great example of this fine collectable mid engine American made machine. Deposit required within 48 hours of purchase. If you were surprised to find a Fiero GT in this nice of condition imagine the look on our face when the second owner pulled up to show us his beauty. This thing is as nice, if not nicer, than it shows in these pictures. The mileage is accurate and the car is proof. This thing looks like it rolled off the production line. All original paint and decals throughout. Its looks like it rolled out of a time capsule. It's almost hard to comprehend how it managed to even get 24k miles on it. Clearly this car was babied since new. The body is damn near flawless. Hell even the vinyl stripes look like new. The panel gaps are perfect and the car is as straight as an arrow. The paint is original and has deep scratch free shine. No dry spots or clear damage are detected. The car came in with a fresh coat of wax on it. We detect no paint work on the car anywhere. The plastics are flawless, as is the glass and all trim. We only note a minor blemish on the drivers side front corner (bumper- see pics). We didn't bother addressing it because we love the originality here and its hard to notice. The wheels are in pristine shape. The lights are in perfect condition free of dry cracking or fade. All rubber mouldings appear soft and nice further proving that this spent its life in hiding. Inward the interior looks like you just pulled the clear plastic off your grandmas couch. It is flawless and even smells like new still. The dash looks new as you can see. This was a NON SMOKER. The interior is free of stains, tears, and noticeable wear. The carpets are perfect and we have the original mats. The console and shift boot are excellent. The dash looks like brand spanking new. It retains all its original interior features including the radio and speakers. This was the last year of the in-seat speakers (eliminated due to the high cost to produce). The headliner is tight and free of stains. The glass seals well and we detect no signs of water intrusion. I am 6'3 and cannot believe just how much room the interior affords me. It is comfortable to drive and is an absolute blast. AC blows cold! The engine and trunk area look like they were never even opened. The hood bracket and stay still show the original factory grease (see pics) free of any dirt or debris. All tools and spare tire are present and unused. You can also see the original grease on the jack. In the rear the motor presents itself just as nicely. The originality in the engine bay is the first thing you will notice. We detect no corrosion or pitting and engine paint looks new. It basically looks nicer than any engine bay, restored or original, that we have ever seen. The V6 fires right up, free of smoke or hesitation. Its revs nicely and sounds great. The 4 speed transmission and clutch feel excellent and we do not detect any slipping whatsoever. The car tracks nice and straight and stops straight and smooth. We believe the brakes were just serviced within a couple hundred miles. The tires are good and ready for the road. All features work properly and the car is an overall blast to drive. It feels like a mix of a 914 Porsche and 911. It handles brilliantly and has no road noises whatsoever. Please, watch my Virtual Tour below. If a picture is worth a thousand words, what is a video worth? For your consideration is a very nice, all original 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT with only 52,000 original miles. The car has never been hit, has never been painted, and it has no rust. The original paint still shines and looks quite good. There are 2 small sun fade spots as seen in the pictures and video, and a thin line where the clear coat has been removed (It appears as though some sort of auto fluid was resting on the car and leaked down the side). Additionally, there is a small crack in one of the rear glass panels (this does not go through all layers of the glass and it has not gotten any larger in my time owning the car). Aside from these few flaws, the exterior of the car looks great, and you really only notice these small issues if you are looking for them. I am sure if you know anything about detailing cars and are comfortable with a little paint work you can make these few spots disappear. If you take a step back, and look at the car as a whole, it really does look great. The interior of the car is nothing short of immaculate. Step foot inside and you feel as though you have stepped into a time machine and you are cruising back in the late 80's. The one and only flaw with the interior of the vehicle is the headliner is a bit loose. I have pinned it up though, so for me this really was never an issue. A trim shop should be able to install a new headliner for around $200 if this is something that bothers you, it was just not something I thought ever needed to be done. As far as the air conditioning goes, it blows colder than the outside air which leaves me to believe it only needs a recharge. As I rarely drive this car, and when I do I prefer the windows down, I never looked into recharging it myself. Lastly, the headlights work, but they do not go up and retract by themselves, they must be lifted and put back manually. A new kit can be bought easily and inexpensively on Ebay should this be something you would like to fix. Last but certainly not least, the car drives amazingly. It drives straight as an arrow, has plenty of torque, brakes are responsive, and it has never let me down. This does not come as a surprise considering the car only has 52,000 miles and this engine is known to run strong for hundreds of thousands of miles. All things considered, this is a beautiful example of an unmolested, all original Fiero GT, that is mechanically sound. Up for sale is a 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE Coupe 4-speed V6 with 161,000 miles. The car runs and drives good. It has an 1984 OD Trans-axle 4-speed transmission with 4.10 gear ratio. The original transmission blew a number of years ago and was replaced with the '84 with the higher gear ratio from an Indy Fiero. The car comes with a replacement used GT steering wheel with horn. It is in great shape to replace the current one with no imperfections on the leather wrap. Head lights work and raise as they should. Interior lights, gauges, door locks, and windows work also.As can be seen from the pictures this would be a great project car. With a new paint job this car would shine.
