This vehicle has been about 95% restored Inside and out. Completely rebuilt engine, new brakes, new suspension and new everything else.Still needs a radio and a new heater. Runs great but the owner passed away and restoration halted so there maybe a few more unknowns. The vehicle has had one owner since 1963. It was bought in Germany straight off the line. It comes with books, owners manuals, repair manuals and a whole 50 history of the car. The exterior is in great shape, new paint but a couple of very small dings. No rust. Spent most of its years in New Mexico.

I have been the proud owner of this beauty since 2010. It has had approximately 4 previous owners with scattered records on hand. The car runs EXCELLENT. There is an unmistakable purr and rumble when you start the engine, but this car shines and rides so smooth at high speeds. I am heartbroken to sell it but I have a new baby and besides not being particularly practical, I need the garage space. I have driven this car locally with just a few longer trips (once to Southern CA and a couple of times to Lake Tahoe/Reno area) since 2010, so milage has been minimal. I have a box of extra small parts and upholstery. The only repair recommended by mechanic at last visit was a new subframe mount. 1976 240D Mercedes. This 240 D Mercedes is a w115 240D. One of the last 115 body models built. Original delivery of this car was 11-76Ivory beige color (see pics) Good 240D. Solid engine starts every time even in cold weather. Transmission is in good shape. Engine runs very well, no unusual sounds or knocks, only classic diesel Mercedes noise . This car is equipped with a good glow plug preheat pull ignition system, which preheats and starts quickly indicating strong glow plugs. Engine compartment is clean with no oil leaks Driven on errands, short 'round town pleasure cruises. This 240D drives and handles well, good steering , good compression, drives well on the road. The transmission has been recently serviced with maintenance records included.Car has rust age spots, rust around sunroof and rear fender edges have rusting. (see pics for condition.) Nice original clean interior, dash has 2 in crack by radio speaker grill, dash covered with custom dash cover to protect, looks good. The original Becker Europa radio works. The electric sunroof and passenger window work intermittently. Odometer reads 69,183. The a/c needs charging. One (old) small pebble peck on windshield. (see pic pointing to it) Peck has been there since I bought the car, the peck stable, not cracking. Driven daily to Starbucks for my Venti, 6 shot, Flat White, whole milk, Latte.I have to downsize and I'm driving a Smart Car, or I'd keep on driving this car to Starbucks. A little TLC to make this 240D a great classic car , for a good price. If you need to know something, ask bridgetknott any questions via Ebay messages. Good luck.

Owner purchased this vehicle in May, 1988. It was totally restored in 1984. Rarity: European model, 4 speed manual floor shift, electric sun-roof, full sized hard-top coupe, fuel-injected gas engine, disc brakes, power steering and brakes. This model including convertibles produced in 1966 was 6213. The engine was rebuilt at 70,433 km by Metric Automotive in Tarzana, Calif. in 1984. This firm rebuilt only Mercedes engines. The vehicle exterior is straight and sound and looks great. The leather interior is in good condition. The dashboard wood and windshield is trimmed in Malasser Mahogony. The polyurethane finish is beginning to flake. Any rust on the undercarriage is what one could expect on a 48 year old vehicle. There is no dents on the exterior and the paint is in good condition. This is a rare coupe with a great body style.

ATTENTION, BARN FIND. ALL SERVICE AND REPAIR RECORDS SINCE NEW!! Late 2012, One of my customers found this 1978, Mercedes-Benz 280E, W123 series, in the garage off one of his neighbors. The old lady explained to my customers that they are the original owner and that her husband, who had just passed away, had purchased the car in Stuttgart, Germany back in 1978. He had kept every single record of every dime he ever spent on the Mercedes in all these years. He even kept notes on little cards so he would remember when he dropped it off at our local Mercedes dealership. The first service was performed in Stuttgart, Germany, when the 280E had only 680 miles. All the records, including his personal notes are in a thick binder. For the first 24 years this Mercedes was taken to the Mercedes dealer ONLY!!!. He kept those dealer records separated from the others with a larger paper clip. The first service record from 1978 in Germany is kept in a plastic, transparent jacket. Every squeak and rattle was religiously noted on one of his cards and then reported to the dealership upon dropping the car off. All the original manuals and books are in the same binder. Included is also a Mercedes parts catalog for the W123 series Mercedes. The 280E has it's original paint and there is NO RUST on the car. Nothing has ever been done to the floor boards and they look like they were in 1978!! My customer was so impressed (A car collector) he purchased the 280E from the old lady. He had it towed to Autohaus in Virginia where they went through the entire car to get make it road ready. He spent well over $6,500 dollars between Autohaus and us, Autobahn Auto, since he purchased the car. His records are also in the binder. Here is some of the things he's done: The 280E has brand new brakes all around, brand new Michelin tires all around and brand new shocks all around. Front upper control arms with bushings are BRAND NEW. He had the valves adjusted, the front door strikers replaced with new ones. Spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor and wires are all new. Filters and fluids, including a brand new flow-master rear muffler, are all new. The heating and air-conditioning climate servo is BRAND NEW, also replaced is the AC compressor and the radiator. The AC blows ICE COLD, and it switches to heat just as selected on the temperature dial. The motor starts instantly, the transmission shifts flawless through all the gears as if it was still 1978. The steering wheel is without play and smooth as silk when on the road. The 280E comes with a brand new car cover that's in the trunk, along with extra floor mats. The only flaws I could find are the vacuum operated power door locks, the sun-visor clips and peeling paint on one of the hub caps. The original owner special ordered the 280E without a sunroof due to his height. The car has the original Becker Europa radio and it works flawless in all the stations. The antenna, which is often not working on older Mercedes, also works as it should!! It's safe to assume that it will vacuum door elements and of course the sun visor clips to make the 280E near new condition. If desired we can perform the repairs at our shop Autobahn Auto at a low rate. I attached a photobucket link below this description, be sure to view the extra 49+ photos of the 280E. Restart the slideshow if you missed some. If you like additional photos please email me.
