Always a California truck since new. We purchased from a beautiful private equestrian stables in Redding, CA, and used it to tow another vehicle 2,400 miles back to WI. It performed flawlessly.Zero rust, never even a bubble. Was a dry, straight, clean truck with notorious GM paint that had been burned thin by the dry California climate. So, we disassembled the truck (all glass out, bumpers off, all trim removed, interior removed) and performed a high quality DuPont/SPI urethane basecoat/clearcoat refinish (original Russet Metallic over Frost White) that would preserve this truck's beauty for decades to come. The interior is all original, and all GM. Not perfect of course, but amazing for a 29 year old truck.Mechanically, it is in good running order. Strong engine and transmission. Everything works. We've performed some regular maintenance and a few minor repairs in the 3,500 miles in our care. Tires are in great shape. Drives down the road straight and smooth. It's a pleasure to drive, and it tows beautifully as well. 7 pin wiring harnesses in both bed and bumper, and original Kelsey-Hayes hydraulic over electric proportioning brake controller are included.1987 was the last year of the increasingly sought-after "squarebody" style in a regular cab pickup, and the first year the mighty big-block was fuel injected. So this 1987 R20 454 was a one-year-only truck, and one of the more desirable squares.We realize there are cheaper examples out there, but not many nicer. This was what we consider a "Preservation Restoration" where all original parts are re-used, but cosmetically restored when possible. This is not a $50,000 rotisserie frame-off nut-and-bolt restoration. It is not perfect if your benchmark is the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but is likely nicer than 99.9% of similar trucks offered for sale.
