1954 Chevy 5 window 3100 pick up truck. I bought this truck about 6 months ago like it is from out west. i loved it bacuase of the awesome patina. I have come to realize i have way to many projects and wont be getting to this anytime soon. Truck is a 1954 shortbed 5 window with all natural patina. with the ultimate color combo!! This truck is still a project meaning it is a roller with no motor or transmissions. so when you get the truck you can choose to go with a LS based or traditional with a carbureted small or big block. the body was taken off the chassis. A Camaro front clip was added to give you independent suspension,power steering,and disk brakes. A tilt column was added also. it has a 12 bolt rear end in it. the chassis was painted in a por15 chassis paint (frame has faded some sense has been outside). the wheels are new 20 inch US MAGS with brand new tires as well. most of the glass is good with the exception on cracked windshield and missing one door glass. truck is complete from front to read bumper with all original sheet metal and has never been painted. very solid body. took over 60 years for motoher nature to do this. doors open and close nicely. Truck finished would be awesome. i kinda hate to sell it but also hate that im not doing anything with it. email with any questions. Pairing a 216 cubic inch 6-cylinder with a 3-speed manual transmission and striking Burgundy paint, it's sure to turn heads. And, if you're in the market for some sweet collector metal that can be driven, shown and fully enjoyed, it's exactly the ride you've been looking for! BODYWORK/TRIM After World War II, GM rolled out its Advance Design pickups nearly a full year ahead of its revised passenger cars. Why? Well, most agree that, because truck production continued throughout the war, the General's body dies were getting worn and needed replaced. It's a simple answer, and the kind of thinking you'd probably expect behind such a wonderfully uncomplicated machine. Naturally, this 3100's appeal begins on the outside where all-steel lines, memorable enough to inspire the Chevy HHR and SSR, are coated in a fantastic layer of Burgundy 2-stage. That paint, detailed with a Charcoal pinstripe, presents well from any angle, remaining a true testament to rock-solid bodywork that was conducted during the truck's no-holds-barred restoration. And everything adds up to one crisp and clean classic that's been finished to 100% show worthy standards! One of the best attributes of Advance Design pickups is their straightforward ornamentation. Not decorated to the hilt like most '40s and '50s cars, these blue-collar runabouts illustrate how solid design can remain fresh almost 70 years after it was introduced. At the front of this Chevy, a show-quality grille rides between a fresh chrome bumper, clean halogen headlights and a correctly trimmed hood. Behind that hood, a stainless-trimmed windshield leads a smoked greenhouse that's framed in bright, stainless wipers and a small driver's mirror. Beneath that mirror, a polished and bowtie-branded fuel filler floats amid stylized door handles and painted running boards. Between those boards, a spectacular Oak bed is detailed with stainless skid strips and bowtie-branded rail plugs. And beneath those plugs, a "CHEVROLET" branded tailgate reflects sleeved chains, polished tail lamps, a second chrome bumper and polished exhaust pipes. ENGINE Peer in to the truck's body-matched engine bay and you'll find a 216 cubic inch Thriftmaster 6-cylinder that was professionally rebuilt by Greeley Automotive Machine of Greeley, Colorado. Introduced for use in large platforms, and regarded as one of the all-time great Chevrolet powerplants, this "LBA" branded mill is a favorite among vintage GM truck buyers because of its simple design, adequate power and excellent durability. At the top of the block, painted Weber carburetors mix wind, supplied by satin-finish air cleaners, with fuel that's piped through braided lines and high quality XRP fittings. Those carbs ride on a clean Fenton intake, which floats above cast Fenton exhaust manifolds. Opposite those manifolds, a fresh distributor, which sequences fire between MSD Heli-Core Solid Suppression wires and a polished, 12-volt alternator, twists on a tough Comp camshaft. A beefy radiator provides cooling with the help of a large pusher fan and polished cap. And items like a Delco-Remy starter, a silver, "Chevrolet" branded valve cover and a polished oil cap ensure the bright blue powerplant is very impressive to look at. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Crawling under this classy bowtie reveals body-matched floors and a powder-coated frame that have never seen the slightest hint of inclement weather. Power meets the pavement through a traditional Muncie 3-speed, which is tied to a 10-bolt, highway-friendly rear end. Correct leaf springs and big drum brakes occupy all four corners of the chassis, mixing rugged road prowess with firm and solid stops. A polished, dual-pipe exhaust system, which is wired to a polished Patrick's muffler, runs the entire length of the truck. Everything rolls on chrome steel wheels, which turn 245/60R15 Goodyear Eagle STs around "CHEVROLET" branded hubcaps. And details like a silver oil pan, stainless fluid lines, a fresh brake booster, a silver flywheel cover and an Optima gel cell battery round out an impressive restoration. INTERIOR One part vintage and one part modern, this pickup's warm and welcoming interior looks straight out of an old school Hot Rod magazine. At the front of the cockpit, a glossy Burgundy dash hangs classy Haneline gauges opposite an old school locking glovebox. Instead we'll give you a moment to look at the quality of this chopped and lowered hot rod V8 pickup. That way you can already have a deep desire for its custom touches before we talk about this Chevy's cool story you'll love to share. This is the pickup truck that got American moving again after WWII. In fact, Chevy even acknowledged these more as a continuation of the Pre-War, 1942 model year from a design and engineering standpoint. It has some rarity because Chevrolet stopped producing the C/K series in May of 1946 because they wanted to introduce improvements before 1947. That makes this a less than one-year production model. Of course what you see here is far from an original museum piece frozen in time from the mid 40's. It takes the American hero, and transforms it into a very American hot rod. It starts with a nice tribute to the most plentiful color available in the immediate post-war, Turret Gray, but this is the exact opposite of drab. There is a metallic element introduced that amazes from even across a show field. In a nice touch, the bumpers have been removed to help emphasize the rounded front end that complements the 40s-style flowing fenders in the front and rear. The staggered size of the American Racing Torq Thrust wheels give this one an aggressive, and low, forward-leaning stance that is further amplified by the chopped cab. The custom work even extends to the bed, where the wood floor has been traded for a more durable metal one, and the tailgate even has Chevy's "Heartbeat of America" slogan, which has added significance on this patriot. You know the custom work continues on the interior the moment you use the door poppers because the door handles have been shaved in true hot rod fashion. Plus, they are now hinged in the rear for a sought after suicide door upgrade. You're immediately greeted by a tan leather with textured ostrich inserts on the custom bucket seats, door panels, and even the Chevy bow tie headliner. From the driver's seat this pickup looks like a work of art. It starts with a custom sports steering wheel, in ostrich and chrome. Beyond that is a full set of Classic Instruments gauges that are both crafty, and shiny. The rest of the upper dash shares the exterior gray, and houses the AM/FM/CD stereo. Below that is a custom panel made of machined metal that holds the controls for air conditioning. Open the hood, and you'll see something much more significant that the original six-cylinder. It's Chevy's trusty and infinitely upgradeable 305 cubic-inch V8. It looks nice with brightwork pieces such as the A/C compressor and air cleaner, and even the valve covers have been painted to match the engine bay. But beyond just looking good, this one is built to be a reliable driver, with an aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan. Mixing a massaged small block and modern GM 4-speed with bodywork that'll sit well on any show field, this road-ready warrior is worthy of EVERY Chevrolet fan's full attention. If you're shopping for a clean classic that mixes modern detailing with purposeful simplicity, take a close look at this slick 3100! BODYWORK/TRIM A solid canvas that was ready to reflect some smooth street rod art, this super cool pickup benefitted from a ground-up, nut and bolt build that was designed for the street or the show. In addition to top-notch restoration, the truck's sculpted body was supplemented with custom inner fenders, wider wheel tubs, and a cut, smoothed and filled firewall. With that labor-intensive groundwork laid, a smoothed hood and custom roll pan framed a smoothed tailgate, shaved mirrors and a billet-trimmed Curly Maple bed. That slick fuselage eventually made its way to Washington's Whipple Motorsports for a seamless coat of Deep Black Gloss 2-stage. And, when that wet-looking pigment dried, finishing touches included modern headlights, amber parking lamps, capped wipers, tinted glass and bright LED taillights. ENGINE Toss the hood and you'll find a 358 cubic inch, fuel injected small block that, according to this Chevy's builder, creates healthy 10 to 1 compression. At the top of that polished and painted mill, custom, polished aluminum air tubes feed GM tuned port injection, which is seated between stainless fluid lines and a high quality Lokar throttle linkage. Below that linkage, free-breathing heads hide Comp roller rockers under polished, white-detailed valve covers. Fires get lit by fresh EZ Wiring, which jolts MSD Street Fire plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a Griffin aluminum radiator, which rides between a chrome puller fan, a polished expansion tank and a custom-fabricated support cover. Spent gases exit through ceramic-coated shorty headers. A Billet Specialties Tru Trac accessory drive spins an Edelbrock water pump between a polished AC compressor and polished Powermaster alternator. And the truck's glossy, body-matched engine compartment is exceptionally well done, with items like chrome dipsticks, polished hood hinges and a custom-fabricated engine cover rounding out an otherwise impressive build. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Crawling under this old school bowtie reveals a fresh double A-arm/4-link suspension that's been augmented with polyurethane bushings, tubular control arms and adjustable coil-over-shocks. Behind the small block, a 700R4 4-speed bridges the gap between a 10-bolt axle and 2,500 RPM stall converter. That familiar drivetrain pushes heavily undercoated floors on a body-matched chassis. Unisteer electronic power rack-and-pinion steering provides tracking. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power-assisted, Aerospace Components calipers, which squeeze big drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers breathe through fabricated, crimp-free pipes, which hang welded, dual-chamber mufflers in front of polished, quad-outlet tips. At the corners of the chassis, polished Coys wheels twist 245/40ZR18 Falken Azenis in front of 315/35R20 Falken Azenis. And everything, from the truck's Milodon oil pan to its relocated fuel tank, is well planned, well executed and ready to work its magic! INTERIOR When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a stylish custom cockpit that's laced with plush, ultraleather surfacing. Top dead center, cushy bucket seats appear to be 90s-era GM pieces. In front of those seats, a smoothed dash hangs Classic Instruments Tach-Force gauges above Streamline controls for the truck's Vintage Air climate system. At the base of that dash, a custom console centers modern JBL audio and a short Lokar shifter between switch-operated courtesy lamps and big Directed speakers. Opposite that console, sculpted door panels hang small, billet handles in front of 1-piece power windows. Under those panels, clean carpet frames billet foot pedals and color-keyed JBL kick speakers. And in front of the driver, a tilting Ididit steering column spins a polished and half-wrapped Billet Specialties wheel.
