Color: Grey-Blue (DB-906G)Interior: Parchment (cream-beige) MB-TEXSoft Top: Navy BlueMiles: 101,600 originalBeautiful rare color combo you'll fall in love with on this 450SL. It's difficult to find an original elegant color with an interior that matches so well and finished with a sharp contrasting Navy Blue soft top. The MB-TEX parchment interior shows no rips or tears and shows in very presentable condition. Paint is largely original with some respray done with good quality craftsmanship. Body panels appear to be straight. There are no paint or rust bubbles anywhere. There is no rust on this vehicle including the undercarriage that's clean and dry. Lots of preventative and regular maintenance work has been done on the vehicle in last 5 years including timing chain, tensioner, rails, plugs, cap, rotor, AC, servo replacement and the list goes on. Service records available. Recently had the AC serviced and fully recharged. AC Conversion has already been changed to 134 and it really blows strong and ICE COLD, something you do not find often on 450's of this age. Motor runs strong and shifts smooth through all gears. The previous 3 owners took care of the vehicle and it shows as it was garaged and covered. The original owner had it for the majority of time and passed it down to his daughter. In the later years it was sold to a close friend of the family. Dashboard is original and has a few small cracks showing. Car comes with a dashboard cover and kit to install. There is a newly installed Sony CD audio system with USB connection the previous owner purchased. The original Becker Radio that was removed also comes with car. The removable hard top is in nice condition including the interior lining and glass. Soft top is Navy Blue and was recently replaced according to previous owner and visual inspection but does have a tear above passenger head space. We will try and work a good price for soft top replacement from one of our vendors if it's important for you.The wheels are original MBZ factory 14 inch alloy non chrome in nice condition not showing scratches and curb rash. Dashboard lights and cluster are all in working order as are the windows and switches. We have all keys, books, manuals and a large file of service records on the car. 1979 MERCEDES 450SL This beautiful gray blue metallic (paint code 906) exterior with dark blue pinstripes and dark blue interior is a great color combo. This little “Roadster” has been very well maintained and serviced throughout it’s entire life. It has 71,667 miles on it. The factory service book shows the first service and lube was done at 702 miles on 11-22-78. All of the pages are in order going up to 64,722 miles on 9-24-87. It has only been driven 7,000 miles in the past 26 years. The first service was performed in Overland Park, Ks. and all of the rest in Tulsa, Ok. The previous owner believed he was the 3rd owner. This Mercedes is a southern car with solid body, rocker panels and floor and trunk pans (no rust). The windshield is original to the car and still retains the original Daimler sticker that was only available on the original glass. 1979 Mercedes Benz 450 SL: This Mercedes Benz was purchased from a Mercedes mechanic in Palm Springs, California in 2008. I enjoyed it until June of 2011 when I was transferred to Europe and the car was put into garage storage. In 2014, I bought new tires and had the oil change before shipping it from California to Ft. Myers, Florida. Within a month, I again left for Europe and the car was put into storage in LaBelle, Florida where it remains. This California car had no rust upon coming to Florida and although having put two car covers since 2014, and not knowing of my return to USA…I am putting it reluctantly up for sale. It does have a minimal scrape (maybe from a curb) on the chrome stripping below the driver door but the body is, (as noted; see pictures)... in good condition; no damage and with regular ware. In 2009 it had a new single-line exhaust system installed (because of California emissions standards) replacing from the manifold to the exhaust tail pipe; the A/C Climate System was upgraded but required adjusting for the desert climate. This Mercedes was top-of-the-line-luxury with a 1970’s cell-type phone system between the front seats (mountings remain) and antenna port (note pictures) on the trunk lid. Mechanically, it had a new passenger side camshaft, rocker arms and pushrod replaced in 2011; has the original paint (was buffed using a cleaner that removed the clear coating and exposed the paint (see pictures); and appraising for new leather seats the shop removed a leather sample one inch square on the driver seat of which I patched and used sheepskin seat covers. The car's rubber weather stripping; convertible soft top; electrical wiring functions but is 1979 original. I have not seen the car for nearly two years (obtained reports from the storage facility to assure its status) and checked with my insurance company for accuracy... the car has 111,000 miles. I drove the car in March 2014 from Ft. Myers to LaBelle, Florida (30 miles) and it started and ran OK. The Mercedes-Benz 450 SL was produced from 1973 through 1980. During its production lifespan, 66,298 450 SL’s were made. The 350 and 450 SL were built as replacements for the 230, 250, and 280 SL model range. Under the hood is a cast iron (last year) eight-cylinder, OHC engine capable of carrying the car to a top speed of over 120 mph and sprint from zero-to-sixty in just over ten seconds. The 450 SL had the larger 4520 cc eight-cylinder engine which made great powerful road car with solid-sporty handling. Mercedes was the standard for Luxury cars back then just as it is today. Standard equipment included a convertible soft-top, (would need replacing), and all luxury items. Fitted in MB Tex the interior is clean and very comfortable, includes A/C (although Mercedes was not known for its A/C units), Radio, Air, and power windows. The vehicle is powered by its original 4.5L with Auto transmission performance figures rate the car at 180hp, 0-60 in 10sec and a top speed of 120mph 'SL' represented 'Sport Light' or Sport Leicht. It first appeared in 1954 on the 300SL Gullwing. These early Mercedes SL 's are exciting, classic, and sporty road cars. One of the last true roadsters. I am selling the car “AS IS” without warranty. We are selling our 1978 Mercedes 450SL. This car is a classic and has been a lot of fun to drive around with the top down. This 450SL has very low mileage with just over 65K original miles and is in wonderful shape. We have garaged the car and included in the sales price is a soft top, hard top, and a custom cloth car cover. The original factory paint color and interior are still in excellent condition as pictured. This Mercedes 450SL Convertible is a beautiful classic and is road ready.

SPECS: Owner History: two owner vehicle – same family- from Mom to Daughter; CA car – always garaged;Body: clean no visible dents or rust; Smooth Shifting Transmission; All power equipment in working condition; Radio- 5 disc CD changer- speakers installed behind seats- see pic Tint- 30 percent UV block out- very nice addition to car profile- see pics- not too dark. MAINTENANCE: Will provide maintenance records; 134a air conditioning conversion; New Tires; New Spark plugs;New Battery; Power antenna- replaced within last three years. MINOR IMPERFECTIONS: The driver’s seat (door side) has a tear in leather side seam– see pic. This vehicle could be used as a daily driver and is in age appropriate condition. All options are functional including air conditioning. I purchased the vehicle 3 years ago in Los Angles from a dealer representing the second California owner.
