1969 Mercedes 280 SE original convertible.Purchased in Texas 5 years ago with the intent to restore it.It is a solid running car. Rebuilt engine with original parts imported from MB Classic Germany. There are 3 spots that need to be fixed during restoration to make it perfect. 1-Spare part section has two layer of sheet metal.The inner metal surface rusted. 2-Front Passenger floor has 2" patched. No reserve auction for a running driving car. This a 1987 560sl that spent nearly it entire life 278,000+ miles with one owner. The miles are actual on this car and the trip meter does work as does the clock. Original owner had the engine rebuilt/ overhauled with new valve sleeves ect. Currently the car is running and driving and I have driven it on a nice day without a problem. This car starts right up, the idle control valve needs to be adjusted as it has been in storage for past few years. When in park the car idles higher than it should, once it goes into drive it idles without a problem at 500rpm. The transmission shifts nicely and all gears work forward and reverse, the shift lever is a little stiff from sitting. All tires are in good condition no dry rot and good tread matching dunlop all seasons on the front and matching snow tires on the rear. I dont drive it in the snow but it is how the car was received from the original owner. The soft top is ok has one tear, no cracks in the windows will eventually need to be replaced. The hardtop has peeling in the clearcoat but it is not terrible. The car does have some rest over the two rear fenders and the drivers rocker panel. This would be a good restoration project that you can also drive whenever you want. The heat works as does the blower motor, i drove it on a cold day and the defroster did its job up front and in the grass window in the hardtop. The windows works, as do the horns, turn signals, wipers, lights. New air and smog filters. Brakes are excellent very firm and you have no question you will stop with this car. Steers nice too its pretty solid for its age and the suspension isnt bad at all. Engine makes nice power and this car cruises at 60 without any problems. When in drive the car idles with the engine oil pressure is just under the 3 mark which is excellent. The car has a clean Ohio title and a clean carfax report, it has never been in a accident or painted. I've owned since 2004. **1974 Mercedes 450SL **Roadster Convertible** Known as the "Panzerwagon" due to its strong 8 cylinder engine and solid transmission. Really nice dark blue with Mercedes "parchment" interior, good soft top and hardly used hard top with crank winch for storage. We recently "refreshed" it with new injectors, NGK plugs, Bosch wires, synthetic oil, differential fluid, transmission filter. Tires and battery are great and its ready for Fall touring. Always garaged and never driven in Winter or rain. It does have a few paint bubbles. She starts right up and runs well for her age. A small dent above right rear wheel, otherwise the body looks really good. There are no exhaust leaks, but I would change the after market muffler at some point. This car can certainly be used as a daily driver or weekend runner. I have all the manuals and my service records.This is a real beauty and future classic collectible with no surprises!
