This car is a worthy project, I just don’t have time, and I lost interest when I got the 450SL convertible, I’d rather work on that instead. So, I need the 450SLC out of my driveway. I was told by the previous owner that it was running and driving when he parked it a few years ago, which I believe to be true. The inside of the engine (when looking through the oil filler cap) is very clean, no obvious gunk. The engine will turn over, but slowly, and the jumper cables got hot, so I don’t think it is getting good ground. I know that the car came out of Texas, and was in California before that, but I don’t know any prior history. I bought a set of the correct “bundt” wheels, and put brand new tires on them, also new center caps, so just the wheels and tires are about half of what I’m asking for the entire car. I don’t have pics of the bottom of the car, but it has rust damage underneath, and there is a hole in the right hand side of the trunk which is pictured. I think that a previous owner put the “Euro” kit on it to cover up the rust, so be aware that this car will need lots of sheet metal repair down low. I was just going to patch it up a bit, leave the Euro kit on it, get it running, and have a cheap driver that looks great from 20 feet away. Hard to believe that this car was almost $32,000 new. In today’s dollars, that’s about $132,000! There is a spare tire and wheel in the trunk, it is not a bundt wheel, just a steel rim. Spare holds air. Also in the trunk, are the 4 wheels that were on it when I got it, fancy aftermarket wheels that the dealer sells when new. The four locking center caps and the key are included in the trunk as well. The front spoiler is not attached to the car, I just sat it in place for the pics. I will put it inside the car for transport to the new owner. I do have the keys for it, but the passenger door will not open from the outside, you have to open it from the inside handle. Of course, none of the vacuum stuff will work, since it hasn’t been started in a couple/few years. (Remember, this IS a project car!) Please note that the first pic where the paint looks good, was taken in the rain, just so a prospective buyer can see that the paint will buff out pretty well, I was just going to spot touch it in places, and later on, do a full restoration. It sat underneath oak trees for years, so getting the sap off will take some time. The original color is gold, I think it was called “Aztec Gold” or something like that, the last pic is of a paint code chip to show what the car should look like. The leather interior, carpet, etc is pretty well done, it needs to be replaced as well. If you have any questions about the car’s condition, ask! 2003 MERCEDES BENZ AMG SL55 This is a very nice AMG SL55 with only 20,976 miles. It is the perfect color combo and surely a vehicle that will increase in value and become very collectible. This car has all the original paint and a clean carfax. When I purchased the car with 17,500 miles, I did all maintanience which totaled around 10k. Including new Michelin tires, new wheels, and new batteries. It is excellent mechanically and no leaks. There are a couple minor defects in the paint which include on the front spoiler and on the rear of the car there are a couple of rub marks which I believe could be buffed out. Of course most AMG's are well appointed, and even more so SL65's have many nice touches, I believe this car to have every available option. Including heated and cooled seats, distronic, Iphone adapter, keyless start, windscreen, a/c, power seats, tilt, cruise, rear spoiler, massage seats and much more. I purchased the car about a year and a half ago in sunny San Diego and drove it back to Oklahoma for an absolutely incredible road trip. The car performed flawlessly the entire trip and to date, I've had the services performed as they've come due and replaced one strut. It's been a wonderfully dependable and reliable car that's never left me stranded. I am completely and totally, mechanically inept so if you want a dependable car anything I've owned is the one to buy. Why? I cut no corners, if my car breaks down, I'm standing on the side of the road so if it ever needs service it goes into the shop for repair, no questions asked. This AMG has a low 39,442 miles on it and looks to be even less based on it's appearance. Everything works, it needs nothing, myself and the previous owner are both middle aged owners that can and have taken exceptional care of the car. It has an invisible bra so the typical rock chips on other cars will not be found on this one, it has Asanti three piece wheels on it, if there is a pick on the car it's that the wheels do have some curb marks, (I posted pictures of each so you can see for yourself), and it cannot read the air pressure on the very expensive but aftermarket wheels so it will read low air pressure when they're filled with nitrogen and up to the proper pressure. My confidence in the car's dependability is so high that if you pay my actual travel expenses to and fro I'll drive the car anywhere to you in continental US. I would encourage you to come and look at the car, drive it, fall in love with it or have someone come and inspect it for you so you know exactly what you're getting. Moving and need to sell my well cared for 450SL. A little history. The new vehicle was originally purchased from Boulevard Motors in St. Louis, Missouri - I have the original window sticker! According to the son of the original owner, who I bought the car from, it was garaged in St. Louis then again when his parents shipped it to California where they retired. When the owners were no longer able to drive safely their son took it over, driving it to his east coast home where it was garaged and driven, only in good weather, for a few years. I purchased the car from the son in '08. Since I have owned the 450 it has been stored with my other old vehicles in a environmentally controlled building. When I got the car I checked the compression (very good with all cylinders within 5 psi), changed the transmission fluid, had the injectors professionally cleaned, replaced all engine rubber vacuum lines and seals, and generally ensured it would be a reliable driver. The interior is overall in good condition and is original. It appears to have been repainted and that repaint is showing its age with a little pen holing on the right front fender and a some rear quarter panel fading. The exterior paint is a 15' quality job. The vehicle shows as a daily driver and is priced accordingly in line with the Hagerty collector car price guidelines. I have enjoyed driving it and it has been reliable for me running on 87 octane, no ethanol when I can find it. The soft top is in good condition with a clear rear window. The hard top is in good condition never having been on the vehicle after its delivery to me. There is a roll around cart for the hard top that goes with the vehicle if picked up with the vehicle. Tires show no issues with plenty of remaining tread. The spare, original jack and tool sets are in good condition going with the car. Also a couple of maintenance manuals and most all repair receipts go with it. The original owners son installed a Kenwood radio, amp, and rear deck mounted 6"x9" speakers supplementing the dash factory speakers - makes for an enjoyable sound system when the top is down. Lastly, I believe everything works but ask if you want something specifically checked. I enjoy owning and fixing up old vehicles and have tried to present the vehicle honestly. I am an amateur collector, not a professional, but with a 100% eBay rating. Please ask any question you may have and it will be promptly answered. A well maintained 450 SL, ready to drive and enjoy. These vehicles were designed and built for many, many miles of use and are solid. I purchased this car from the son of the original buyers (I have the original window sticker) who took it over after his parents could no longer drive. The parents were in California at the time, so he drove it from California to New Jersey where he lived, driving it there only in good weather. He enjoyed it for a few years and now I have enjoyed it for over 6 years and am ready for the next classic (my hobby), so time to sell. All of the known performance nuisances and issues have been fixed or updated. I have the repair and parts receipts back to day one, complete since I have owned it. The transmission shifts smoothly without slipping, the engine does not use oil and has been reliable. It runs well on 87 octane gas; I try to use non-ethanol fuel when available. I do not know of anything not working - if you want something specific checked email me and I will test it. The car is a driver quality with what I would call a 15 foot paint job. The interior is original, seats and carpet good and not torn. The rear deck carpet is sun faded - I can provide a economical replacement source for this flat piece of carpet. The son installed a CD player, rear deck speakers and trunk mounted amp making music with the top down lively when desired. The hardtop roll around stand, pictured holding the hardtop, goes with the car if picked up with the vehicle. I have several maintenance books and a CD that will go with it. Also the fog lights, the appearance I did not care for, will be included. I set the 'buy it now' price below Hagerty's price for the condition I conservatively believe the vehicle to be in so I would expect someone to recognize a value when they see it. Now the legal stuff. A $500 PayPal down payment is due within 48 hours of buying the vehicle. The balance is due within 7 business days of the purchase in the form of cashiers check or cash if individually picked up. The vehicle will not be released to you or a carrier for 4 business days after receipt of a cashiers check for the balance due. You are responsible for securing a carrier if needed.
