PRIVATE SELLER ...I purchased the car from my retired neighbor with intentions of holding on to it but I own five vehicles and am about to get married so I need to focus on bigger priorities. Car does not smoke, runs great, good oil pressure, tight steering, drive smooth, and shifts as it should. The fuel system (tank flush, pump, screen, filter, fuel distributor, and new lines), battery, speedometer/odometer gears and tires are all new to the car. tires are just over a year old now. The interior shows minor wear as you can see. The only interior pieces that need to be repaired/redone are the sunvisors in which they have simply broken down over time. The original radio does not work the internal battery went out (can be sent in if you are a purest) The soft top is original but does have one repair. The original owners manual and hard top tool are included. There is a quick disconnect on the battery since the vehicle is not driven quite that often, The odometer reads ~82k but I estimate 85-87k due to the slipping of the original odometer gears.Taking pictures is not a problem I can also send video of the car running and driving if needed. No rust seen in the wheel wells, undercarrage, door jams, or rocker panels. can put the car on a lift and take pictures if requested. Are you tired of looking at tired, iffy, high mileage SL's in this price range? No history, beat up interiors, shady sellers? Then your search is over.  This is a remarkable 2006 SL 500 Roadster, in Iridium Silver with Ash (grey) leather. This is a Southern car since new, sold on September 26, 2005 at Crown Eurocars in St. Pete Florida. The condition is just amazing--I believe it is the nicest used R230 SL500 I have ever seen--and I have seen more than a few. Bodywork, shut lines, paint and trim are just fantastic. I do not see a scratch, ding, rub mark anywhere, and the nose is amazingly free of road rash or marks. Take a look at the photos, even though they really don't do the car justice. She is thoroughly cleaned, prepped and detailed by a Concours geek and judge--me--with only the best products. Glass, trim, plastics are neat as can be, entry and exit areas show no wear, and underhood and trunk look just as new. The car has the factory equipment that you like, such as COMAND navigation, Bose audio, sat radio, Bluetooth capability, heated seats, and of course, the fantastic "vario roof" that made these cars famous. She also has Keyless GO and bi-xenon headlights. It smells like a new Benz when you open the door, and feels it too. There are rubber MB mats on top of the Carpet MB mats, and it doesn't go out in bad weather. Note that I have the wind deflector as well, still in the original packaging, never opened. You get the idea.... Mechanically, the car is just as sound. I have excellent paper records from 2008 forward, most all of them from MB dealers. This car has been maintained with an open checkbook. It is fully serviced, and has no ABC, top, or electrical issues. The ABC has already had the front valve unit replaced, and the fluid refreshed, It just had an "A" service a little over 2000 miles ago at our MB store, and another oil and filter change about 100 miles ago. And I just put two new batteries in about a week ago. Of course, I have all the books and manuals, the MB service history, the original window sticker, and both working remote keys.  Oh, and she just had a new set of Michelin Pilot shoes, less than 1000 miles ago.   It's very hard to describe how nice this car is. But I am a Benz geek, 40 + years, and MBCA member, and over 35 years in business. I play by the Golden Rule, and have been doing long distance transactions well before Ebay became popular. Designed as the larger sibling to the 2-seat SL, the stretched platform added back seat functionality and a remarkably handsome profile that gives this car a look and feel all its own. With just two owners and a beautiful recent restoration, plus Mercedes-Benz's legendary build quality, it's a superb runner. This car was purchased by the owner's father-in-law in 1978, so long-term history is excellent. It was restored in 2008, taken down to bare metal, and sprayed with its original metallic root beer color. With a brilliant shine that's typical of high-end finishes using two-stage urethane, this car still looks like an A-list celebrity. There's absolutely no rust, thanks to a history in the warm southern US, and no evidence that it has ever been in an accident. The R107 platform was built like a Panzer tank, and as a result body gaps are exact, the doors open and close with a precision that will delight you, and it still seals up tightly to be whisper quiet on the highway. All the rubber (and there's a lot of it with the federally-mandated bumpers) is in excellent condition, and despite living in the sun, things like the gills in the quarter windows and the plastic lenses are beautifully preserved. Cosmetically, there can't be many nicer SLCs available anywhere. Inside, the leather interior, which was a rare upgrade over the standard MB-Tex, is equally nice. The buckets are firm and supportive and built to carry passengers great distances in maximum comfort. Other soft parts like the door panels, carpets, and headliner are similarly excellent. Sisal floor mats are a nice touch, which surely helped protect the carpets, and the darker brown dash top was purely intentional to help reduce glare. The SLC came standard with just about everything, including A/C, cruise control, power sunroof, and there's a great sounding AM/FM/CD stereo in place of the original Becker Grand Prix unit. There's also a wonderful wood-rimmed steering wheel that adds a bit of warmth to the interior and even the beautifully upholstered trunk shows almost zero wear thanks to a custom embroidered trunk mat. The 4.5 liter V8 under the hood was one of Mercedes' better powerplants. With a bubbly V8 idle and a smooth flow of torque that's more electric motor than piston engine, it makes the SLC a sporting machine that delivers entertaining performance. It's also as reliable as a wood stove, with most examples running for hundreds of thousands of miles with only routine maintenance. It's clean and well-maintained under the hood, and a fresh alternator is a welcome sight, as this is one of the lone weak spots in the car's specifications. The three-speed automatic shifts well, and the chassis is quite clean. Traditional Mercedes alloys look exactly right and carry recent 205/70/14 Michelin blackwall radials. This car also includes all the restoration photos and maintenance records, so you can buy with confidence. An impressive car for not a lot of money.
