stingdude Store In 1977 and 1978, VW issued one Champagne Edition convertible to each US dealership, also known as a Special US Sales Campaign model S723. This was essentially a Triple White convertible, but used a sand colored convertible top and had a set of four gold stripes running along the bottom of the doors and rear quarter panels. The 1977 model had faux burled elm dash inserts and the 1978 had faux rosewood dash inserts. Both had Opal colored vinyl seat (ribbon weave) and door panel coverings. Approximately 1000 total triple white S723 convertibles were sold in the US. I am pleased to offer this 1978 Super Beetle Convertible Champagne Edition in Triple White. This was my fathers car that was garaged and covered at his second home in Palm Desert, Ca. It has 7351 original miles from new (Documented from DMV smog check records). Original paint, top, interior, etc. Just fitted 4 new tires -BF Goodrich from Coker . As good an original specimen as you are likely to find. 1969 VW Type 1 Original CA Sunroof Beetle. No Rust. Original Savannah Beige paint with excellent shine and patina. 1 owner car until earlier this year when Honest Engine Acquired it out of long term storage. Car was used as and airplane hanger shuttle vehicle and always stored indoors. Certificate of Authenticity. 94,000 original miles with less than 100 on entire build. Body: Totally rust / accident free all original panels with exception to the sunroof which has been repainted and rebuilt with new cables. Perfect front and rear aprons. New fender beading. New chrome nerf bars (original bumpers and black and yellow plates included ). All new lights running lights and seals. NOS/OEM green dot Talbot driver and passenger side mirrors. Car has a few light dings and bangs, all could be cosmetically removed while maintaining the correct patina. Custom, color matched left over paint from the sunroof repaint is included. Motor / Trans: Completely rebuilt 1641cc with less than 100 miles by Honest Engine ( 1000's of VW motor rebuilds through 2 generations and 4 decades experience ). CB short Block, Counter weighted crank, I beam rods, Straight cut cam gears, AA piston & cylinders, New single port heads, Full flow oil pump, Deep sump, CB ignition, Rebuilt Carb, Lightened flywheel, New motor mounts, Seals, Empi, polished dual exhaust. Motor runs fantastic with lots of power. Transmission is original and geared for freeway (70mph easy). New Optima Yellow top battery and New Starter. Running gear: New 4.5 & 5.5 x15 Porsche 5 lug Empi wheels shod with new 145/205 rubber. 5x130 Porsche drilled rotors and drums. Cross drilled front disc brake conversion. Rebuilt front ball joints, steering stab, shocks and CB drop spindles. New axles, New brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinder and hoses. Excellent original pan. No rust or weak spots. This car tracks down the road and drives as solid and confident as new Porsche. Ride is very comfortable for long trips. Interior: Everything works...like a new car works. The body and chassis of this VW are very solid, with little to no rust, and it has been in Northern California its entire life. The paint is a bit faded out, there are a few minor dings, a scuff and some scratches on it as well. The tires are in great shape with a ton of life in them. The engine was taken out for a rebuild and never made its way back into the car. I have all the engine parts and components, in addition to that I have a ton of extras to go too. The carburetor has been redone a few years ago and needs some cleaning up. I have spare window pains, a complete fiberglass body kit set for a VW Beetle sports coupe, 8 chrome hub caps, & trim pieces.
