This is a 1973 VW Thing Type 181. In perfect running condition. Shifts great, does not pop out of any gears, all new brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and lines. Tires are in great condition. No rips or tears in the interior, no holes in the floor, rust free car. Original bumpers were just stripped and re-powder coated. New convertible top. Windows are in great condition and are the plastic version not glass. Car was painted a couple of years ago and still has lots of shine. Registered in California with a clear title. All lights and blinkers work. Horn works. New seat belts. Windshield wipers work. Reverse lights are not hooked up and gas heater is not hooked up. The fuel line under the gas tank was disconnected. Car is very complete and does not need anything. Has all the original steel fenders. Hood opens and closes easily like it should. Car has never been hit in the front or rear. Does not need any body work or paint (unless you choose to paint it a different color). We added a glove box door. There are no holes cut in the body for speakers or anything like that. There are Bilstein shocks in front and rear. Has been garage kept. Little things it could use are hood seal, trunk seal, small items like that. Very clean custom Thing. New highest quality top and frame, new paint, 7 point roll bar with padding, tires, rebuilt interior, all rubber has been replaced. Starts easy and runs great. New headlights and taillights. Has original gas heater but I have never tried to start it. This vehicle is about 90% complete, still has a few little things needed but overall very nice.

I have a very nice 1973 VW Thing. I did a body off restoration a couple of years ago and have lots of pictures of the work done. Haven't driven it much since. New dark metallic green paint throughout in excellent condition. Freshly built 2180cc engine that's very strong. Has low ratio gears in the trans-axle, geared ideally for off road use. Centerline wheels, rollbar, new canvas top, new soft windows, new windshield, new rubber everywhere. Original gas heater that works. Cloth seats. Floor pan is painted with bed liner material. Runs and drives great. Probably one of the nicest Thing's out there. 47,400 miles. Solid, original California car that's completely rust free and very straight. Just had an $ 800 full service at Car Craft in Riverside (10/11/2015), new flywheel seal, oil change, filters, they rebuilt both carbs, adjusted throttle linkages, new air filters and fixed some minor oil leaks. Comes with a quality custom fit car cover. Clean title in hand. Car is located in Perris, CA. Available most times to show it and will assist with shipping but shipping is at buyers expense.
