It is mechanically perfect in all senses and drives as such. For those of you in the know, these 1.9L turbo diesel engines can easily achieve 300K miles without issue. Distinguished Yellow (D1B) on grey leather (optional) color combination shows beautifully. Fully loaded with every available option, this particular model is powered by a 1.9 L SOHC 8 valve, diesel TDI, l4 (90 HP/150 lb/ft.torque). The car easily achieves 45 plus mpg consistently. The car looks, feels, and smells brand new with it's excellent interior that has not been smoked in. The vehicle underwent all major services approximately 10K miles ago. Full service records from new. Services were performed by a German master technician with factory parts. Service is as follows: 1) Timing belt kit, water pump, serpentine belt - 34,595 (7/28/2008). 2) New diesel pump - 63,784 (2/23/2016). 3) R&R cabin filter/oil filter/coolant - 63,784 (2/23/2016). 4) Interstate battery - 63,784 (2/23/2016). 5) New clutch kit and flywheel - 68,702 (7/19/2016). OK OK, I relisted this car. This is a bona fide steal. I regret doing this. This is a good, cute little California car. A daily driver for sure. The car is free of major mechanical issues but has little cosmetic defects. On the positive side, it has a recently purchased battery, clutch, and tires. It runs like a champ. The bug passed smog and has a clear title. Small issues are, the passenger door window won't lower and the radio/cd works fine, except (I'm sure VW owners know this) when we replaced the battery the radio sent to some security safe mode and needs a code from the dealer to work because it thinks it was stolen. I know a pain. We just never got the code. For a 17 year old car, there are not many major issues.

Beetles offered a lightweight platform to modify and turn into off road machines. Common modifications include cutting or replacing fenders to allow for more ground clearance. Typically engines were modified, usually adding dual port heads. Suspension modifications often included longer travel shocks to cope with rough terrain. This particular Baja Bug has been restored. Fiberglass fenders have been added for the "cut" look which also offers better ground clearance. Open the door and you'll find a beautifully finished interior.
