1971 vw street/offroad baja bug with lots of extras. great 80s feel and super rad! All and all solid with a lot of improvements but needs a new owner to take over as I have lost interest. was last ran and driven summer 14 but tagged for street use in in 06. Needs a tune up. front tires are new (no miles) and rear are oversized with plenty of tread. has front and rear brush guard bumpers including rear engine cage and nerf guards. motor is a 1600cc dual port. 5spd trans. brakes have less than 1000 miles but have been sitting. clutch and oil cooler are new including a fresh oil change. Original solex single carb was rebuilt a little over a year ago but not tuned since re-installation. battery was replaced about two years ago. needs paint job, body work and some electrical. The electrical system is 12v but the wiring is a mess and will need cleaning up. Floor pans will need areas repaired. New rear torsion cover plates are included but will need to be installed to replace corroded originals shown in photo. It is mileage exempt. Actual mileage unknown. Interior is well worn with tears, dents, and flaws. Floor is covered in shag carpet. Included is an uninstalled set of used bucket seats. I think they are leather but not positive. Not pictured. Also included is a set of wheel adapters for 5 bolt wheels among a few other spare parts. The keys to the snowboard/ bike rack are lost but the keys/locks can be replaced. I will include a thule bike attachment not shown. It's a really fun car to drive! thanks

This Baja is a lot of fun, and almost all parts are less than 2500 miles old. I built this from the pan-up, so most everything was replaced (brake parts, brake lines, fuel lines, window rubber, etc). Wipers, turn signals, seat belts, etc all work so this is street legal (no emergency flashers but turn signals work). I'd be happy to Facetime / Skype with any potential buyers so they could see the vehicle a bit more up close - just email me with a request and your contact info. - 1966 pan, solid & rust free, clean and current title with up-to-date California registration - 1969 body, very straight, no major rust, was media blasted, primered, and sprayed with OD green spray paint for easy touchup (looks good believe it or not) - VW thing front end with newer high-quality German ball joints - VW bus rear end with small-nut reduction gear boxes (superdiff, very low gearing, climbs extremely well) and J.J. Johnson No-Hop kit (incredibly rare). Transaxle was fully rebuilt during restoration - 1600cc single port built by Art Thraen (one of the better VW engine builders out there), Bosch 019 distributor, full-flow with oil filter thermostat, oil cooler with fan (fan not yet hooked up) - Bilstein shocks all around - Yokohama Y742S front tires (700x15) mounted on BTR rims (aluminum, plasti-dipped black) with 95% tread. Also, extra brand new Yokohama Y742s tire under hood for spare. - BF Goodrich 31x15x10.5 rear tires (90-95% tread) with additional non-matching spare - Corbeau Baja SS seats (black vinyl - some snags and minor tears where jean rivets hit when sitting down) - Painless wiring harness (very clean) with custom wiring cover to keep dirt/water out - All new VDO gauges - Custom back platform for gear boxes / storage - Cobra CB Radio - 6 point roll cage (for recreational use, not racing) - Custom front bumper with two HID lights - One piece front end with dzus fasteners - Mark V hi-mount fiberglass rear fenders - Yakima roof bars for rack, kayaks, etc (basket and hi-lift in some photos are NOT included) - Front and rear skid plates - Optima red top battery - Tow bar, emergency spare parts, towing electrical cable Minor issues and other items of note: - Oil cooler fan is not hooked up to electrical yet; works to cool oil fine without - Small, very slow drips here and there from reduction boxes and engine. I believe the valve covers are the source on the engine and cork just need to be replaced or sealed up. - After some long drives, some oil seems to spatter out of oil breather (a fine mist and not excessive amounts). I think with the full-flow system there may be higher pressure which is causing this. Oil breather will correct this. - E-brake cables need adjusting to hold properly - Speedometer needle broken (top speed is 55mph or so; you don't have to worry about speeding too much) - Due to the low gearing, top speed is around 55mph. This thing climbs hills like crazy! - Driver's side door shuts great, passenger requires a bit of effort but still closes great. - Car is a bit dusty from offroad trails Please Read This: I've done my best to describe this vehicle as much as possible, the good and the bad. I value feedback highly and want to ensure anything I sell is exactly as described. I highly encourage any buyers to inspect / test drive the vehicle prior to sale. This is a 50+ year old car - there is no warranty on it. Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer to coordinate and pay. I will be out of town from July 17-25 so shipping or pickup will need to be done after these dates, but will still be available to answer any questions. Please contact me with any and all questions. Thanks for looking.

.This isn't your average baja! THis car was fully restored to show quality in 2005, a lot of money was spent and it has several trophies. It is still a very nice car but is showing its age with some paint chips that i have pictured. Fiberglass hood, fenders and rear cowl. Paint is Pearl White and really pops in the sun. Headliner is still like new, carpet and seats look great. Crushed velvet inserts on door panels and seats.Transmission and clutch are great. Has 4 wheel disc brakes on it that stop it perfectly. Tires are like new.Motor is a 1600cc. Motor has a lot of chrome on it. mufflers have a little rust spots on them but not bad. They are not the loudest but they definitely are not quite! Empi valve covers. When it was restored they put all new floor pans in it and they are still in great shape, no rust. heater channels are solid. All of the glass is good, no cracks. Missing the latches on the vent windows.Headlights, tail lights work. Brake lights stopped but have not looked into it. Very solid car in excellent shape ready to go cruising! take it to your local show or cruise in and steal the show! Any questions at all just message me. 256-710-4356 Car is for sale locally also. Car is sold AS IS no warranty. Alabama does not title vehicles this old. Bill of sale only.
