1960 OLDSMOBILE SUPER 88 CONVERTIBLE . My family were Oldsmobile dealers for over 35 years and I have never seen a Super 88 Convertible in this kind of original condition this nice in my life. It has an "8" in the Vin number and "3567" on the original cowl tag. This one is as real as it gets! Original Vin tag is in the door opening. Original colors of Garnet Mist Metallic with Matching Garnet and White Interior, not a color change car. One re-paint stripped down to bare metal, no rust anywhere! Exterior paint is a 9 on a 10 scale. New Top that works perfect. Please look at the photos of the "ORIGINAL RED OXIDE FLOOR PANS". Options are the original 394/315 HP Rocket 4 BBL V8 engine, Original 3 speed Automatic Transmission, Original Rear End Housing! It is Numbers Matching. Other options are Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Convertible Top, Wonderbar AM radio, Deluxe Hub Caps are in place with Rear Fender Skirts. It has a CD Player installed but it is hidden in the glove box and instrument gauges installed under the dash just to keep more in touch with the engine functions while driving and enjoying this wonderful Oldsmobile. An aluminum radiator and extra fan has been installed to keep the car cool. Car is to be actual miles at 71,000 but they are exempt because it is over 10 years old. I do not have a photo of the car with the top down but again it works perfect. Matching red top boot is with the car also. Original cardboard surround is still in the trunk. Not sure what you call it but most of the factory original felt or heavy cloth material that is in between the rear springs that keep them from squeaking is still there! I appreciate any Oldsmobile collector to please come look at this car, it is amazing! These do not come to market very often. From what information I can find they only made 5830 of these cars. In perspective they made 79,903 Chevrolet Impala Convertibles in 1960. These Super 88 Convertibles are very very rare! I bought this car a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed owning and driving it but alas living in New York City, it's simply impractical for me to hold on to it and leaving it up you to give it a new home. It's really fantastic on the open road and a pleasure to drive. The 5.7 Liter 350 starts up with no problem and drives fantastic. To the best of my knowledge I'm the 3rd owner and the 18,500 mile are original. It has always been garaged kept. It was repainted by the previous owner a few years back but the all white interior with black carpet is original. A new top was installed one year ago and a full tune up was done back in April. The battery is less than a year old. The original owner decided to add fender-skirts and the continental kit giving it a unique look that really makes it stand out in a crowd. I had a 3 inch lift kit and shock extenders installed to the rear of the car to compensate for the additional weight added by the rear continental kit. I added some modern touches by installing a remote door lock opener and passive alarm system as well as a back up camera with a monitor that piggy-backs on to the original rear view mirror. 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 Convertible This car was from Arizona until this year. Super clean, sweet cruiser. Vintage air and hear, stereo mounted under front seat. Clean original dash. The car runs and drives as it should. Plenty of power. Power steering, power brakes, cold a/c, brand new white wall tires. Not wide wall like in photos. (note - tires in photos are no longer on the car. But if buyer wants them they can go with the car). The car almost dent and rust free. Very Nice body, interior, top and chrome. 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible Only 56,000 documented miles!!!! Wedgwood Blue, Black Interior & Black Top Original Rocket 350 cu in Engine, Automatic Transmission Extremely clean original condition with recent repaint in original factory correct color! Runs & Drives absolutely beautifully!! Starts right up. Idles great. Knocks down beautifully and purrs like a kitten. No smoke. Put her in drive, and the automatic transmission shifts through the gears unnoticeably. I have owned dozens of contemporary and classic cars and nearly every type of car, foreign & domestic, low end, high end, etc. and I can say that this is probably the smoothest and most comfortable car to sit in and drive that I have EVER owned! Everything operates as it should. With the exception of very few minor imperfections here and there, the car is extremely clean inside & out! Tires and top are only a couple years old and are like new. The paint is a quality repaint of the original color. Please see the pictures and pay particular attention to the photos of the engine bay! If you are looking for a Greenwich or Palm Beach Concours winner, this may not be your car, but, if you are looking for a solid, extremely clean original car that will turn heads everywhere & get you a few awards at local car shows, then look no further!! It has yet to leave the garage without getting a compliment (usually many!) before it returns home! The Wedgwood Blue is gorgeous and makes the car stand out from all the red and white convertibles that are out there. If you are considering this vehicle, you probably know that this one one of the last big Detroit convertibles of their generation. The Ultra Classic 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible This rare classic convertible is a real beauty and the result of a professional and thorough ground- up, frame- off, five-year restoration. As one of only 9561 produced, every effort has been made to restore it to its brilliant original condition. The car is powered by its 324 cubic in, 240 hp Rocket V-8 with Hydramatic transmission. The Restoration This classic convertible was completely dismantled, bead blasted, painted and reassembled. The body on this car was amazingly solid and straight with no dents. The exceptional condition was probably because it was carefully maintained and has been garaged since the 70’s. The car was primed and painted in original specification red and white. The under carriage was painted chassis black, and the floor pans were undercoated like they were originally. The all new interior and top were done to match the original by John Bush of J & J Upholstery of Covington, VA . All bumpers were rechromed. Several emblems also were replated while others were replaced with new quality reproductions. All window glass and rubber components are new. All mechanical and electrical components of the car are original and reconditioned. The engine with 85,500 original miles was totally rebuilt with a new crankshaft, pistons, rings, valves, etc. The transmission was completely rebuilt by a retired Oldsmobile transmission specialist. The power steering pump, the steering gear box, and generator also were rebuilt. The brake system was overhauled completely with new wheel cylinders, brake shoes, hoses, brake lines and master cylinder/booster. All new wheel bearings, tie rod ends, and grease fittings were installed. The rear end was cleaned, greased, and reinstalled. The radiator was removed, flushed and repaired. The gas tank was removed, flushed, coated and painted. The carburetor is a rebuilt replacement. The fuel pump is new, remanufactured. The exhaust system is completely new. The tires are new, period-correct, bias-ply, wide wheel well tires. This is an opportunity to own a rare classic that is fully restored to exemplary 9+ condition. Varn. She had a distinguished career in the Navy including service in WWII and also was the first female editor of the Law Review at the University of Florida. Documents with the car indicate that she had the car in Naples, Italy during her tour of duty as a JAG in the U.S. embassy there in the early 1960’s. She returned to the U.S., and the car was parked in 1965 when she retired to take care of her ailing mother. The car was bought from Ms. Varns’ estate in the 70’s and moved to Salem, VA, where it was garaged until it was purchased by for restoration.
