The Oldsmobile 88 gained an all-new look in 1957, one year ahead of corporate siblings from Chevrolet and Pontiac. Rakish, lower rooflines with a larger hood and grille denoted the new bodies, while the famous “Rocket” V-8 was bored and stroked to a significantly larger 371 cid with 277 hp. There is just something majestic about a 57 Olds! You are viewing a beautiful straight 1957 Oldsmobile 88 two door hardtop, restored in its gorgeous original colors of Allegheny Green with White two tone. The Paint Shines and lays very flat, this is a well preserved older restoration , it has been driven so it has a few small chips and a scratch or two but still shows very well, The interior is redone in a very clean tasteful soft vinyl, feels like leather , it is black and white and looks and smells great, The chrome work was done the old fashion way years ago before the EPA got involved, you can't get chrome done like this today without spending a fortune, The Chrome still shows like new, The stainless is equally nice all polished and straight. The cars 371 Engine with Correct four Barrel is show detailed and runs like a swiss wrist watch. The turbo trans shifts well and it has power steering and power brakes for easy cruising. This car finished a four hour trip last year in 90 degree whether non stop at speed up to 85 miles an hour for sustained long periods of time and all that happen is we lost a Spinner hubcap at 75 miles an hour, it was replaced and matches all the beautiful spinners that are on car now along with Radial Wide White Tires. This car has integrity in its body , interior and mechanics. The underneath is solid but it is a driver so don't expect a new frame off look. The trunk , frame, floors all solid. Doors shut like new! All lights work, all gauges work, everything except radio. all glass is excellent and its USA Glass and not that stuff south of the border. THIS CAR IS OWNED BY MY FRIEND JOHN, HIS NUMBER IS 630-661-2442 HE IS VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT HIS CARS AND JUST HAD THIS CAR THROUGHLY GONE THROUGH BY HIS MECHANIC WHO ADDRESSED ANY ISSUES PROPERLY. 1957 OLDSMOBILE 2 DOOR HARDTOP PROJECT CAR. THIS HARD TO FIND, VIRTUALLY RUST-FREE CAR IS A PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR RESTORATION OR TO OUTFIT AS A FABULOUS RAT ROD. THIS IS A SOLID CALIFORNIA DESERT CAR. IT CAME FROM PORTERSVILLE, CALIFORNIA IN OCTOBER, 2014. IT APPEARS TO HAVE ALL THE ORIGINAL PANELS. THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER WAS REPLACE IN THE PAST. THE DRIVELINE IS NOT ORIGINAL TO THIS CAR BUT, THE OLDSMOBILE ENGINE RUNS BEAUTIFULLY. THE HYDRAMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS A ROUGH UPSHIFT FROM 1-2. THE INTERIOR HAS BEEN REMOVED. THE SEATS ARE IN PLACE. THE ORIGINAL COLOR OF THE OLDS WAS ROSE MIST. I HAVE INCLUDED A PICTURE OF HOW IT WOULD LOOK IF RESTORED TO ORIGINAL. THE BRAKES WORK BUT SHOULD BE GONE THROUGH. I ONLY DRIVE IT LOCALLY. THE HEATER CONTROLS AND RADIO ARE PRESENT BUT ARE DISCONNECTED. A REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD IS INCLUDED AS THERE IS A SMALL CRACK ON THE PASSENGERS' SIDE.
