This is a rare low mile original time capsule 450 SL with just 39,770 original miles on the odometer. It comes with the original factory hard and soft top. In excellent high quality condition, the vehicle has virtually been in the same owner's hands since newly purchased in May of 1979.Always garaged and kept out of weather and sun the car is beautiful and shows in excellent condition. The paint is largely original with proper depth thickness. There does not appear to be any indication of accidents or bondo as the body panels all show factory even gaps and straight even lines. There are a few minor imperfections to be expected on a vehicle of this age (such as a minor scratch here and there). All the glass, rubber, brightwork and trim are in very nice preserved condition. There is absolutely NO RUST anywhere on the vehicle. It drives like Mercedes intended with a very tight suspension, no play in the steering and tracks incredibly smooth and straight down the road. This is not your ordinary loose and shaky 450SL with excess miles and typical vibrations you'd hear on a high mileage car. You don't get the usual outside air blowing in through the window rubber seals and cracks. The transmission shifts accurately and smooth through the gears. The motor starts right up and idles steady. It drives with full power top to bottom on this strong-young motor. New plugs and wires were recently installed. Additionally the AC/Heat servo was just replaced. The 14 inch factory alloy non-chrome wheels do not have curb rash or damage.The blue leather interior is in stunning like new original condition with no sagging on the seats, separation of seams or leather fade. Truly, it resembles a time capsule it is so nice. The carpet shows very nice, wood is in beautiful condition and the dashboard is all original free of cracks, fading or damage. The instrument cluster gauges all work as they should. The needles still have their orange/red color. All power windows, electric switches and lights are in working order. It comes with the original factory Becker AM/FM radio that still operates. The trunk has the original spare and tool roll kit. The soft top is original and Navy Blue in color - without any cracks, rips, tears or foggy/dirty windows. It is amazing how well preserved the original soft top is and the compartment where it is stored is extremely tidy and neat, free of any moisture or dirt. All original books and manuals are present and accounted for including the original delivery date and matching numbers data card. Huff key and valet key included for the central locking system. We only have some recent service records unfortunately as the previous owner passed away and the file was never located. Purchased brand new on 12/31/76 by the only owner, a cardio surgeon doctor, this vehicle is a beautiful example of a time capsule with extremely low mileage, excellent condition and original form. Always garaged and very well cared for in stunning condition. Specs /// 1 owner (purchased new by a cardio surgeon on 12/31/76) Miles: 21,500 original miles Color: Magnetite Blue (DB-931) Interior Color: Blue Leather Motorized Sunroof The paint appears to be mostly original in a beautiful blue tone from Mercedes called Magnetite Blue. It still has a hi-gloss shine that illuminates incredibly in the sun. The body panels are laser straight with factory shut lines. There are no paint blemishes or bubbles. Paint depth is even and smooth showing no indications of accidents, incidents or bondo. The bolts appear to be unturned and original. The interior is the original Blue Leather that came with the vehicle and it does not have any rips, tears or fading. All of the interior is original including the dashboard that is 100% free of cracks or sun damage. The carpet texture is unblemished and new looking. All of the surfaces including the middle consul are like new. The buttons don't have finger marks. As mentioned earlier this vehicle is like a time capsule so well preserved and looking like a 20,000 mile car would that has always been garaged and sparingly driven after 40 years. The vehicle features 4 power windows all the way around and does not have a middle pillar separating front and rear windows. Equipped with a sunroof that's controlled by a push button motor. The cruise control works and so do all the electric switches and dashboard lights. Interior dome lights and gauges are all in proper working order. The needles are still bright orange. It comes with a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo. The factory AC works and blows cold air. The fluids were recently refreshed. All original factory MB glass is in place. The bright work, rubber and trim are in very good condition. Comes with the original 14 inch bundt cake rims. On the highway is where this young engine truly performs. The 4.5L V8 starts right up and idles smooth. Shifting effortlessly through all 3 gears, it revs right up to 80 miles per hour with plenty more room on the throttle. With full power top to bottom on this motor, it's amazing this car is 40 years old. The suspension rides exactly as Mercedes intended driving firm and tight down the road. The steering tracks straight and tight without play. The engine bay is very neat and tidy. You will not find rust anywhere on this vehicle including the underside. All of the trunk pockets, jacking points and wheel wells are clean and rust free. The SLC was born from road rally racing. The chassis is 14 inches longer than the SL convertible roadster. With a sightly longer body and the fixed head roof that's a few inches taller than the SL, a road performance improvement is quite noticeable. SLC was the flagship Mercedes car during its production run. The USA version had only the V-8 engine available with leather seats, wood trim, AC and sunroof all standard. Being a collector grade vehicle with low ownership and extremely low mileage in excellent condition, this SLC is a unique rare find. I have a 1975 Mercedes 450SLC, all original for sale. These have become increasingly rare to find, especially with the body in good condition. It does start when jumped, has a new battery, new rear brakes/calipers, new rear brake lines, new fuel line. I expect it needs an alternator, know it will need engine work, interior work, and other repairs to make it a regular driver. Included is the original jack in the trunk, along with the spare tire under the mat in the trunk. The paint appears to be original, has a couple of small spots around the windows and there is rust around the 4 jack mount holes at the base of the car. There is a small scrape on the passenger side front fender, nothing major. The pinstripe has faded, most likely will need to be repainted/striped. The windows are power and do work slowly, moon roof is powered and worked as well. The radio is the original Becker Mexico AM only with cassette, radio was tested and works, however, the antennae does not go up when the radio is powered on, but can be pulled up which improves the radio signal to come in much clearer. The tires were installed in 1995, still have the receipt which shows 90915 miles when they were installed. I also have a document titled Sticker Issuance Report that shows the mileage in March, 2010 as 93414. Currently the odometer shows 93582 miles, which would indicate it has been driven 168 miles in the past 5+ years, with around 60 of those miles logged in the last year, so obviously some seals will need to be replaced from it sitting so long. The tires are showing some signs of cracking, but are holding air with no problem, but most likely will need replaced due to age and how long the car has sat. I last ran the car a couple of months ago, not seized up and does crank. I have a clear title in hand. Currently this car is not running, will be the responsibility of the buyer to coordinate/incur all shipping costs. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. A very rare replica built by Speedster Motorcars in Clearwater, Florida - one of only 20 built. The cars architecture was derived from the Speedster and Z-series Models, a tubular chassis frame with coil-over shock suspension, control arms in front and 4-link at the rear, rack & pinion steering and four wheel vented power disc brakes. The powertrain is a GM Vortec V8 5.3 liter engine and 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission. The fiberglass body rises only 51" from the pavement, exactly the same as the original and the whole car weighs just over 2,700 pounds. Just 20 were built before Speedster Motorcars went into remission in March of 2008. A virtually new car with 2000 miles since built, this GW Coupe is stunning in Arctic Silver over berry leather. The doors operate in the iconic overhead fashion, leading one to a cockpit that is equally elegant. Almost hidden are the creature comforts from air conditioning to an analog clock. The instruments elegantly finished in white on grey. Not withstanding the chrome wheels, the car has restrained brightwork. Here is an ultra rare 1980 European model 380SLC. Similar to the very coveted European spec 500SLC. The European model 380SLC started production in March of 1980 and featured a 218hp engine, only 27 horsepower less than the beastly 500SLC. Unfortunately US bound 380SLC were plaqued with heavy emissions regulations and the hp dropped to a mere 155hp. They also had imposing large 5 mph bumpers unsightly at best, but nothing in comparision to the elegance of the European models. US models also had a single timing chain which was prone to failure and required an expensive retrofit. Mercedes quietly covered most of the early cars. All Euro models had double timing chains from the factory to accomodate the higher output of those engines.For the 1981 US bound SLC model range, the 450SLC was retired and the 380SLC was then available to US customers. Only 1501 380SLC's were imported, and only 684 produced for the German market making it one of the rarest of the R/C107 lineup. 237,287 R107 SL's were produced from 1971-1989, and 62,888 SLC's were produced from 1971-1982 making it far rarer than the convertible SL model. Most have succumed to rust or have been used as parts cars to restore SL's. Its estimated that less than 2500 SLC's exist today.Very similar to the beloved R107 convertible, popularly known as the 450SL, 380SL, and 560SL, the SLC was a more practical car able to seat four people comfortably. European model SL's had a small seat in the rear, only usuable for children. This option was not available to US customers.The SLC was meant to be a replacement for the much loved W111 280SE coupe, a grand traditional coupe with an upright grille. Both cars being pillarless coupes, the SLC was aimed towards a sports car more so than a grand tourer. As production ended in 1971 in came a new look and a new model and the R107 was an instant hit. The SLC remained the most expensive model in the Mercedes lineup until it was repalced by the C126 S-class derived 380/500SEC models.This one owner car was lovingly cared for and is remarkably well preserved. Its traveled only 75k miles and is rust free. Finished in Signal Red, the paint is smooth shiny and dent free. There are some minor parking lot chips, but hardly noticeable.. There is no rust on the front frame rails, a common fatal problem, and also none on the jack points. It has its original spare tire, jack, and warning triangle, alone with its tool kit. The chrome around the car is not pitted and is beatifully deep and rich, not faded or oxidized. The best part about this car is it has the optional velour interior, an option at the time costing as much as leather. Most of the 1960's 600 models had velour as it was considered at the time to be the ultimate in luxury, especially in cold climates. The interior smells clean and fresh, the windows and sunroof work perfectly. The wood is deep and rich not faded like most SL's and the dashboard is crack free as well.This car runs strong and fast, almost imperceptable in the way a 500SLC drives, but far different than the sluggish US 380 models. The only exterior difference from the 500SLC is that it does not have a black rubber rear spoiler. Personally I prefer models without it. Please call with any questions. 561.309.4626
