The Person Who Won Bid Said he did not know he was going to win it so please make sure you have money ! Johnny Carson's 1988 Mercedes SEC purchased new from Beverly Hills Mercedes from the king of late-night himself Johnny Carson! The vehicle was registered in Johnny's name at his office located at 1999 Avenue of the Stars suite #2100 Los Angeles California and the vehicle was insured with Transamerica Insurance Company Name insured Was Carson Productions Group, some original documentation is still with the vehicle including original owners manual original window sticker and 3 California registrations and insurance cards registering the vehicle to Johnny Carson to my knowledge Johnny owned this vehicle until roughly 2003 when it was sold to one of the neighbors near his home in Malibu for the vehicle did resign most of it's life , the vehicle only has 72,000 original miles man runs and drives truly like a dream just floats down the road and this vehicle still gets a lot of attention! Everything is in working condition the vehicle just passed the California emissions/Smog with no issues vehicle doesn't have any service lights on I truly see no problem getting in this vehicle and driving it anywhere! I will tell you the issues that are wrong with the car mechanically there is a small oil leak from the front part of the engine and it is coming from the valve cover gaskets they will need replacing. Also the air conditioning does not blow cold but the heater is working well condenser is working fine most likely of need of charge or in our state will have to be converted non R12 setup the interior on the vehicle is in excellent condition with no tears or no large cracking in leather either back seats are almost like new the carpet in the vehicle is also in excellent condition and the original floor mats are still with the vehicle also in very good condition the interior and paint is 100% original on this vehicle but unfortunately there is flaws with the exterior which I will explain drivers rear quarter panel rear tire area there is a wrinkle in the panel from a blown tire that damaged this area also the rear bumper was slightly tapped and there is a small crack in the bumper and also the Chrome molding that would line up with the trunk that is on the bumper is slightly bent also since the vehicle was parked out in Malibu it does have rust spots the first one on the windshield washer on Hood in that area there's probably a two and a half inch spot of rust bubbles and also rear window driver side there is a quarter-size rust bubble as well , I did get an estimate from a local Body Shop of $2,470 to fix these damages also the factory pinstripe is starting to fade in some areas along the side of the body and this will also need some attention oh and I almost forgot to mention the automatic seatbelts kind of work only when they want to when you get into the vehicle you'll hear the motors working but the seat belt will not shoot out at you most of the time sometimes we'll get lucky and it will shoot out though this will also need some tweaking to be fixed also the passenger side window motor is working perfectly fine but it is off track and the window need to be placed on track the power sunroof is working perfectly with no issues the rear power windows and driver side window are going down perfectly fine as well all electrical on the vehicle is working as well if you were a fan of Johnny Carson this is the vehicle that you want in your garage I can't imagine the good times that have taken place in this vehicle back in the late 80s and 90s with Mr. Carson and Friends! The new 2 door was called the SEC and was met with huge success. For the US there were two engine options, the 3.8 liter V8 or the rarer 5.0 liter V8 engine known as the 500SEC. These ultra- luxurious Coupes were one of the most advanced cars on the road and was also one of the most expensive cars on the market at the time. At the time the SEC was in production, the 126 line was given the award for the safest car in the world and Mercedes also took home J.D Powers and Associates highest customer satisfaction award. The SEC offers a stunning pillarless look design and Teutonic quality rarely found on cars from that era. European Motor Studio is proud to offer this exceptional all original 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC Coupe finished in Classic White over Palomino leather interior. This SEC left the Mercedes-Benz production line in October of 1984 and was invoiced to Mercedes-Benz North America where it was then shipped to Norman Scott. INC. The car then sold new to its first owner on November 21, 1984 in Houston Texas in the amount of $60,805. The car stayed with the first owner until 2009 when the car was moved to Oklahoma City, where Mercedes-Benz of Oklahoma took care of all the cars servicing until moving to Santa Fe with the second owner where it has been since. The car is finished in its original Classic White paint and showing almost no signs of age. The paint finish is beautiful, with only a few small stone chips in the front nose and some small dime size discoloration areas on the right hand side of grey portion of the lower bumper. There are no signs of any paint work anywhere on this car. The interior is absolutely stunning, aside from the driver bolster where some very light wear is visible; the rest of the interior is exceptional. All of the carpets are unmarked and all of the wood is in excellent condition free from any cracks or discoloration. There are no cracks anywhere on the dashboard or any shrinkage of any kind. All of the switchgear is in outstanding condition showing almost no age. The engine starts right up and runs beautifully. The car does not smoke under start up or acceleration and the engine pulls strong through all of its gears. The gearbox is nice and smooth and free from any issues. The steering and suspension have an excellent feel and free from any noises or known issues. The brakes have an excellent positive feel and free from any grinding. The tires have about 80% tread life left and the brakes have at least 50% life left. All of the electronics appear to be operating as designed. The power windows, door locks, power seats, power headrests, mirrors, sunroof, antenna, seat belt arms and cruise control are all functioning as designed. The AC blows cold and heater is blowing hot. All of the lights are functioning as they should including the trunk light door buzzer. The original Becker radio is still functioning as well the as seat belt arms when the doors close. This is an exceptional, all original 500SEC Mercedes and rare to find in 500 form. There is no rust anywhere to be found on this car and absolutely no signs of accident damage or body damage anywhere. The undercarriage is clean and damage and rust free. The car comes with its original tool roll, spare tire on its original tire with the original hang tag, the original jack, all of the original books in their pouch and a Mercedes Huff key along with a clean Carfax and numerous maintenance receipts. This is a gorgeous1987 Mercedes 560SEC has only 71,000 miles, and is in excellent condition. It has just completed a major service. Brand new Dunlop radial tires were also installed. The paint was buffed and new pinstriping applied. Under the hood, the engine was given a major service ($4000), with fuel injectors replaced, intake manifold, AC service, and interior gone through and repairs made as needed. This 560 is as nice as you will find. It runs beautifully. These were the flagship Mercedes in their era and are starting to appreciate. All original garage kept 1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC. This is top of the line MB in 1988 all the way to 91 minus the AMG package. The 5.6 Bosch electronic fuel injected motor runs fantastic producing 250 Hp. The 4 speed transmission shifts just as good. Interior condition is prestine but not to include the passenger bottom of seat is cracked into the leather but is repairable. All electronics function properly to include all Windows, heat, ac, becker Radio, heated leather power seats. The exterior is in wonderful condition no rust anywere on the car. Dent free original paint shines up nicely. With that being said there is a couple very small spots of clear coat fadding. All maintenance up to date to include dual timing Chain/ water pump.
