Originally purchased as a hardtop coupe the owner then decided to convert the car into a one-off power top convertible. The conversion was done professionally; most likely a Stramann conversion, but we do not have any information to confirm. This 560SEC came fully loaded with 8-way power and heated seats, optional side airbags, ABS, optional automatic climate control, and many more conveniences. Powered by a potent 5.5L 16 valve V-8 engine that makes more than enough torque to impress other motorists; paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission that is extremely smooth. The US market cars came standard with Mercedes self-leveling hydroneumatic rear suspension, as well as, a cruise control system that used the transmission’s topographical sensor to limit excessive throttle inputs. This 560SEC is truly something special, the only convertible with 10,xxx miles known to exist. The car is painted in Mercedes deep black metallic paint that has only minor flaws, but otherwise shows extremely well. Body panels are straight and show no signs of any damage. Hello, You are viewing my 1987 Mercedes 560SEC convertible that was converted by COACH BUILDERS LTD when the car was brand new (I have the paper work). Showing only 139,500 well cared for miles that spent most of its life in a garage. This Mercedes is in wonderful, original, non abused, collector quality condition, that is well maintained.The gray leather interior is in excellent condition with no rips or tears. The dash, wood, headliner, carpets, door panels, are all in great, original condition (one crack in the dash, some cracks in the clear on the wood).The convertible top is in excellent condition with a clear window. Everything operates as it should. The paint is in excellent condition with very few imperfections, great shine, very straight, good gaps, no rust and very solid undercarriage. Glass, chrome and stainless are also in excellent condition. Mechanically the car is excellent!!!!!!! Runs, drives and shifts perfect great. Very dependable and well maintained (needs nothing). Cold AC and Hot heat. Recent work done is a new fuel accumulator.Excellent tires and factory chrome wheels. I would not hesitate to drive this car on a 2000 mile road trip.
