Up for auction is a very rare and lovely 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Sports Wagon. This unique Touring Diesel was a one year only production model by Mercedes-Benz for the US market and is the last year ever of the classic diesel wagons. Fully equipped with every imaginable option possible including her 3.0L Six Cylinder Diesel Motor, Automatic Transmission, Air-Conditioning, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Seats, Power Telescopic Steering, Power Sliding Sunroof, SRS Air-Bag, Central Pneumatic Door Locks, Leather Seats, Alloy Wheels, Head Lamp Wipers, Plug-In Block Heater, Tinted Windows, Rear Defrost, Roof Rack, Fold Down Third Row Seat and more. I am aggressively selling our 1981 Mercedes Benz 380SLC. We are moving in one week and cannot take the car with us. The body is in excellent shape, with the interior (all leather and wood trim) in excellent condition also. V8 ALUMINUM ENGINE. The leather has been covered with a lambskin protectant since purchase 25 years ago. Smokefree environment. ONLY 65,000 MILES! It hasn't been driven in almost 10 years. I know it needs a new ac (quoted $300 to replace), new battery, and may need some transmission & other mechanical work to get back on the road. It has been garaged it's entire life, outside of the about 5 years in which it was covered and under a carport. The specialized rims alone are worth 2K, but we are looking for an owner that wants to enjoy this car, not piece it out for parts. It's a restorer's dream! When running, it is silent, smooth and sleek. Has been in our family for 25+ years, we are 2nd owner. This is one of only 1500 models produced and only in 1981, which was the final year of Mercedes SLC Production. It is much more rare than it's SL cousin, & it comfortably seats 4-5 people, although has a sports car appearance. This is the legendary Mercedes w116 Model 300SD, the last year for the type 116, 1980. The 5-cylinder turbodiesel has a reputation of lasting forever with regular oil changes, and has reasonable pep and good cruising speed. This is a very low-mileage car, with almost no wear. The upholstery has no breaks or observable wear, as you can see in the photos. The dash appears not to have cracks, and the original paint still shines, but has been touched up on one spot on the fender and one on the hood. There is a small nick in the RF fender molding where someone must have opened a door into it, and some light scratches in the chrome on the bumpers which appear to be polishing swirls. Most remarkable, however, is that I see no rust anywhere! Has it's original literature, including the parts manual. The car is in the range of a number 2 to 3 condition in the Old Car Value guide, which lists its retail price as between $9,000 and $14,000. Tach, cruise, vacuum system and AC all seem to operate, but the AC does not blow cold. After 35 years, the Freon has probably found its way out.
