Reluctantly offered for sale is this 1998 Jaguar Vanden Plas in excellent condition. This is the much beloved car of my 78 year old Mother, and it is only due to a recent sharp decrease in her mobility that the sad decision to sell it has been made. The car has been a 2nd car for her and even when she was able to fully use it, it was seldom driven, hence in part the low miles. We have all of the records from day one including the window sticker and all books on this car. It has never been in an accident or had anything other than normal wear and tear items replaced on it. It received a new $160 battery 3 months ago.Mechanically, it needs nothing. The car had one repaint int he correct, original color 2 years ago. It has seldom left the garage since. The interior is also in good shape, with the exception of the light wear on the drivers seatback to the leather as well as the center front armrest. The remainder of the interior shows very well and the lambswool rugs are present and in nice shape. These are often missing on these cars. Factory rims are currently on the car with Michelins that have 75% tread or more left. The sale will also include a set of Dayton Wire wheels with Goodyear Viva tires that have 80% tread left or more. They were intended to be placed on this car, but it just never happened. As such, I cannot guarantee fit, but they were purchased after research showed that they would. 2 of the Dayton spinners are missing. 2 sets of original keys and remotes. a very, very nice car that looks and drives as a vintage vanden plas should.Please ask any and all questions prior to submitting your bids. Up for sale is an incredibly well-maintained, 3-owner 2001 Vanden Plas with 69,250 original miles. That's less than 5,000 miles per year! Clearly one of the finest examples of an XJ8 VP on e-bay. Styling is timeless and will only continue to go up in value. I have been the proud owner of 4 Jaguars over the years and this is by far the best I have ever owned. It has an incredibly smooth, quiet ride with literally not one squeak or rattle. The transmission is smooth and in sport mode it is extremely responsive. Like it's previous two owners, I have babied this car and since owned, it has received: New fuel pumpNew tires (less than +/- 5-10% wear)New headliner and leather skin on console (completed by an award winning upholsterer in Redondo Beach)New brakesAll fluids regularly maintained and current This car needs nothing more with the exception of possible leather reconditioning on the drivers side. Everything works as it should. Everything! I have maintained the vehicle religiously at Penske in Scottsdale, at Galpin Jaguar in Van Nuys and a Jaguar specialist in Redondo Beach. I consider this to be nearly a show car in its present condition. The photos speak for themselves. For sale is a very well preserved 1998 Jaguar Vanden Plas with the XJ8 engine. This car is now and always has been a San Francisco bay area car. We are the 2nd owners, having purchased it from a single family owner last year. It had 55,000 +/- miles at that time and now it has 58,675 +/-, so just 3000 miles have been added in about a 15 month period. The car is quite lovely and has never once had an issue with us in the 15 months that required a mechanic's attention. It has been VERY reliable and it has, at times, sat for a month with no one driving it and it always starts right up. Lately, it is driven about 2 days a week. The XJ8 engine is very peppy, very torquey. fun to drive. Being the Vanden Plas, it is loaded and has the optional premium sound. Everything works! The car was repainted in the original Madeira red color when we purchased it and has been garaged since we acquired it. The interior shows very well, but with a 16 year old car, there is wear to be expected. The front center armrest has age cracks and the drivers lower seat back has a tear in the leather, which is not very noticeable because of how far down it is, but it is there none the less. The headliner, while looking fine and without any stains, was apparently coming down in the rear and has now been discreetly tacked into place by the previous owner. While this arrangement has worked well for us, the next owner may elect to have the headliner replaced. Otherwise, the car is quite lovely and does often receive compliments; somewhat surprising to me as it is a 16 year old car, but I assure you it does. The car has newer Michelin tires on it and we have the original books and a copy of the window sticker, plus maintenance records. The 2 original sets of keys and remotes are also present, but one remote apparently needs a new battery as it will perform some functions, but not all.
