This is the Jaguar XJ-L Supercharged; the highest end sedan Jaguar makes.In my opinion, there is not a better sedan that has a mix of sport and ultimate luxury. This car has every comfort option, REAL leather, a/c heat seats, MASSAGE front seats, upgraded stereo, automatic rear window sunscreen, rear side window sunscreens, felt headliner, rear seat picnic tables, sports mode, navigation, and too many other options to list. On the sporty side, this car has a 470 Horsepower supercharged v8, 32 valve DOHC engine. The reason why the 2011 Jaguar is the best is because it is the newest version with the supercharged V8. If you get a newer model they supercharge a V6, and it will put you to sleep when compared to the 470 hp option. This model has an extra 5 inches in the back seat, as well as a/c and heat, so the passengers can ride like they are in the back of a limo. This fully loaded car was $125k brand new. Don't buy new and pay for all the depreciation, get it for one third the cost of new! I just put on new brakes and high performance tires all around at the San Diego Jaguar Dealer! All in all, I challenge you to find a better all around car; I tried. Compared to a 7 series BMW, S Class Mercedes, it beats them all. The only next step up is a Bentley or Rolls Royce. To many the X308 series XJ8 (1998-2003) are the last of the true Jaguars, more powerful and fuel efficient than their predecessors, the X300 XJ6 (1995-1997) and sleeker, sportier and less complicated than the "Lincolnesque" X350 that replaced them in 2004. And they can also be a genuine value for money if you get the right one, one that has had the recommended upgrades done to it... The Vanden Plas (VDP) has always been Jaguar's top of the line model offering many cosmetic and luxury appointments not found or available on the standard XJ series. And the X308 was the first Jaguar sedan to utilize the all new AJV8 that made it's debut in the fabulous all new XK8. From the the very beginning this engine set new standards for its power to weight ratio and fuel efficiency. But as these engines gained mileage and age a few design shortcomings surfaced. In their effort to save weight Jaguar designers chose to use plastics in some components namely the timing tensioners and water pump impeller. When these components fail the result could be catastrophic engine failure.Any pre 2003 XJ still running with it's original timing chain tensioners is a veritable ticking time bomb. This subject has been well documented and there is loads of information on the internet, one last word on the subject, you have been warned...This Jaguar Vanden Plas has had the metal timing chain upgrade done as well the latest design water pump and thermostat.On the cosmetic side, the original headliners were prone to failure due to the foam backing disintegrating over time allowing the fabric to sag and droop especially the concave area over the rear seats. Unfortunately the material can not be simply re-glued, the whole backing board must be removed, scraped clean and new material applied. Most upholstery shops neglect to recover the overhead console and sunroof panel resulting in a mismatch. (Private seller) Chance to own a beautiful iconic low miles classic/vintage Sir William Lyons Jaguar XJ40 / XJ6 Vanden Plas. 1994 is the first XJ model year with major engineering modifications from Ford Lincoln Motor Co., the last XJ built with design input from Jaguar's co-founder Sir Williams Lyons; the first Jaguar with airbags (and the only XJ40 with airbags); the last and most reliable XJ40 model year ever built, according to Car and Driver. Ford Lincoln Motor Co. addressed common XJ40 issues, such as door handle malfunctions. The car appears in a forthcoming Happy Madison feature film (2017). Drives great, engine sounds good. Interior, like the exterior, looks great . . . Pirelli tires on their way out, maybe 3-5K miles left. 'Refrigeration' system works on high setting only, needs attention. There's a rattle from the left front quarter on bumps--needs professional evaluation.The plastic faux wood face of the ashtray (center console), and that of the upper sunroof/reading light console, are cracked The interior headliner should be replaced--it's clean but sags just a bit above the back seat (I've temporarily stapled to keep from sagging--looks fine; fix = about $500). Exterior: Few dings and minor scratches; there is one dent under the rear bumper on the small lower panel; estimates provided.This car is potentially/almost a showpiece, as well as a convenient every day car. The paint is original, looks good--some blemishes. All hoses and belts replaced this year.
