I purchased this sweet Thunderbird almost three years ago from the original 91 year old owner in California. It then had only 50K miles on it since the owner was unable to drive it much in recent years. He had never taken the hardtop off since new, thus the convertible top was never up, and the top is in like new condition. After purchasing the car I drove it home to Texas via Route 66, had a great trip! I have most of his maintenance records since new, and mine as well. New Michelin tires were put on it upon arrival home. Recently it had a complete tune-up and continues to run and drive great. The 4-wheel disc brakes and rotors were also replaced. The car has been serviced regularly since I have owned it, and is in great general condition. Standard equipment on the car includes 3.9 liter V-8; Power top, windows, locks, seats, steering, and brakes; Air conditioning; cruise; tilt wheel; 6-disc AM/FM CD stereo, more.I am convinced one can have many more trouble free miles with the car, however it is being sold as is, where is, and no warranty is given or implied.

We're seeing a lot of interest in unique ones like this 2005 Thunderbird that offer a wonderful color combination that's not the usual yellow or red. And with just 30,628 original miles, it's exactly the kind of gently-used car that makes the best future collectable: one that you can enjoy as it appreciates. The color is called Medium Steel Blue, which isn't a very interesting name for such a dramatic color. Perhaps it's because we're so used to seeing brightly-colored T-Birds, but this one has presence. The finish is still deep and shiny, and like many of its siblings, this car has never been used in the daily grind. Instead, it has been a fair-weather friend since day one, and for that reason, the finish looks incredible. Only 1463 Thunderbirds were built in this color, making it one of the less-common choices and it was only available in 2005, the Thunderbird's 50th anniversary. Body gaps are as the factory set them, the nose is in excellent shape with only very minor signs of age and use, and the chrome details still sparkle, making this convertible look very sophisticated overall. We've sold a lot of these cars, but we can't remember many that had so many people stopping for a second look here in the showroom. The interior is equally subtle but just as attractive, with black leather seats with steel blue inserts just for a splash of color; the Thunderbird was nothing if not stylish. There are some very, very minor signs of use, of course, but overall this is a very well-preserved ragtop. The two-tone leather steering wheel shows the most wear, but it, too, is quite minor, indicative of the car's overall condition and level of care. Crisp, white-faced gauges contrast brilliantly with the rest of the dark interior and just about every feature you can imagine was standard, from automatic climate control to a list of power assists. There's a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system that sounds great even at speed with the top down and this particular Thunderbird offers heated seats, which extend the top-down season just a bit. The power convertible top is color-matched to the bodywork, as is the removable porthole hardtop that looks great with its tinted windows. And as you'd expect, the trunk is in as-new condition. Ford's 3.9 liter DOHC V8 wasn't a tire-shredding monster, but it worked just the way it was supposed to: quite, confident power under all conditions. The last decade has proven that it's quite reliable and with so few miles, this one is only just now getting broken-in. I'm sure there are modifications for these cars, but the best ones are just the way the factory made them, right down to the original air silencer and V8 engine cover that make everything look tidy under the hood. A 5-speed automatic transmission was the only choice in the Thunderbird and it's linked to an all-independent suspension that does a great job of balancing sporty handling with a comfortable ride. A muted dual exhaust system gives it a nice V8 burble that never gets rowdy and 4-wheel disc brakes are exceptionally powerful, particular on a car that never gets pushed to its limits. Bright chrome wheels have a familiar look but no curb rash or peeling, and carry 235/50/17 Michelin radials. Documented with a lot of original paperwork, manuals, and receipts, this is the late-model Thunderbird that everyone would like to take home. And for the moment, it's quite reasonably priced. It also offers a great color combination, almost every available option, and a lifetime of care that shows everywhere you look. Silver makes the Thunderbird look sleek, not vintage, and that's a nice contrast to all the pastel 'Birds you see running around. For a car that's been around for more than a decade now, the finish is in remarkable condition, a testament to both the care it has received and the fact that it was never used as a daily driver. It has never been wrecked and like probably every one of its siblings, it has never seen winter weather, so rust is a complete non-issue. Build quality on these cars was quite good, with sharp gaps all around and doors that close with a solid sound, rather well done for a car with a convertible top. The vintage T-Bird look is still there in small doses, particularly up front where there's a nice chrome grille and hood scoop, while out back, the big, round taillights are a 21st century take on Ford's favorite jet-age styling feature. Beautiful Thunderbird emblems resemble the originals with their inlaid turquoise details and a few well-chosen bits of chrome give this 'Bird an upscale feel. If you're going to pick nits, there's a small scuff on the rear bumper, but overall this car is really impressively clean for its age. The tan leather interior is a nice contrast to the silver paint and it's far more comfortable in the sun than black. It also appears to be years younger and miles fresher than you'd expect, with seats showing only very minor wear. The matching leather-wrapped steering wheel is similarly nice and there are zero modifications inside. Of course, on Ford's flagship, everything was standard, so you get ice cold A/C, power windows, locks, mirrors, and seats, cruise control, heated seats, and a great-sounding stereo that works well top up or top down. There were several different dashboard finishes available, with this one wearing brushed silver accents that look great with the white-faced gauges and turquoise pointers. It's strictly a 2-seater, but there's a well-finished package shelf behind the seats and a good-sized trunk that's fully upholstered in as-new condition. And like the 'Birds of the past, this one offers both a tan convertible top (power assisted, of course) as well as a matching porthole hardtop. The only engine available in the late-model 'Birds was a 3.9 liter DOHC V8 that delivered the kind of effortless performance that made the original so popular. It's not a racer, but it's competent and has a great V8 growl thanks to a modified exhaust system that dumped the rear resonators. It starts easily, idles smoothly, and moves the tidy convertible with gusto but never threatens to get unruly. A 5-speed automatic transmission was the only choice, and it, too, specializes in always being in the right gear without attracting a lot of attention. An all-independent suspension handles well but doesn't jostle occupants and the 4-wheel discs are powerful. In short, all the hardware is dedicated to making your drive as effortless as possible without taking away any of the fun. Handsome polished wheels are in great shape and now carry 235/50/17 Yokohama radials. This Thunderbird neatly balances price and quality with fun and comfort, making it a great choice for a late-model hobby car. We are very pleased to offer this truly excellent T-Bird on behalf of one of our restoration clients. The car was supplied new in Arizona and is believed to have covered only 45,500 miles since. We have copies of the original invoice, and maintenance records dating back more than 40 years. This matching number car is finished in the extremely elegant livery of Colonial White (cream) with Fiesta Red and White two tone interior. The completely rust free body features an older 'driver quality' repaint. In the professional appraisal report done on the car in January 2013, the paintwork was described as 'show quality', although frankly this is something of an exaggeration. While perhaps not quite show quality, the paint is none-the-less extremely presentable, and you would be proud to show the car at any concours event. The chrome, glass and wire wheels are all in excellent condition, and the interior was completely re-done by renowned marque specialist Amos Minter a little over 2 years ago, and is genuinely superb. At the same time, the car was thoroughly serviced and had new aftermarket air conditioning installed. The underside of the car is extremely clean and presentable and has clearly been exceptionally well maintained. This wonderful T-Bird has both tops, and the hardtop is in virtually new condition, having been professionally restored in the recent past. The car runs and drives beautifully and attracts a crowd everywhere it goes! The sale includes a substantial file of documentation, a second set of keys, a correct owners manual and fitted car cover.
