1962 THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE Up for consignment is this fine example of a 62” T-Bird Convertible. This is an all original sheet metal car that has an older restoration. The car shows very well with straight and solid panels and no rust. The paint is in great condition done in its original color. The interior has been redone in its original color and style with great appeal. The original 390 4bbl Z code engine was rebuilt and runs superb. The Cruise-O-Matic transmission has been serviced and shifts smooth. This T-Bird is highly equipped with Factory (power windows, power seat, power steering, power brakes, and heat and cold a/c). Everything on the car is in working condition. The top works smooth and with ease. The Kelsey Hayes wire wheels are in great condition with no pitting. A sport cover for the back seat has been added. All of the chrome was redone or replaced and shows bright and straight. Although this is an older restored vehicle it has been very well kept and regularly serviced. The car has been a great weekend warrior and starts up every time. The owner has enjoyed driving it in parades and cruises. We invite independent inspections and look at all trades. 1956 Ford T-Bird International Award winning Car (True 1 owner car) Hello, my name is Greg Robertson. I am representing this 1956 Thunderbird for the owner. My father Gene and I did the restoration on this bird. My father is 85 yrs old now and this was the last bird that he did. He has been restoring birds since the early 70's. Through the years he accumulated a great deal of NOS parts. Since this was going to be his last to ever build we talked the owner into letting us do a full blown resto for show to be judged. This car has a ton of NOS parts used and it was a no expense spared restoration. The car had 95K miles on it when we received it. It was a no hit body but had it's normal dings and dents they accumulate over 60 yrs. Upon disassembly we took the body and all of the sheet to Dallas, Tx. to be chemically dipped by a company called Metal Rehab. They use a non caustic stripper that once neutralized did not cause any future problems. every mechanical part was completely rebuilt. We have pictures and invoices that go with car that shows the complete restoration process. The steering gear box, engine, transmission, and rearend were all rebuilt. All of the chrome and stainless was done to the highest standard by Paul's Chrome in Pennsylvania at a cost of $22,000.00. This car being a true 1 owner unmolested car that had all of it's factory inspection markings, drive shaft marking and frame markings. We duplicated these markings and had rubber stamps made and placed them back in there original locations with yellow paint as it was done originally and not with the decal kit. We measured and exactly duplicated the frame and drive shaft markings and they are put back with paint as well in there original spots. The transmission tag we removed and had screen printed along with the voltage regulator cover. We strived for true authenticity and correctness. Yes it is way over restored but it is like a piece of art. Every inch of the sheet metal was worked. Inside the wheel wells and floors are flawless and as nice as the exterior. The wheel wells, floor pans and engine bay was all final sanded and polished. Mike said the judges could not believe the undercarriage and engine bay on this car. My dad spent countless hours researching authenticity correctness to double check it against his knowledge and how he has always prepped a car. It has original 1956 NOS headlamps that are a rare find besides the cost of them. As I said the owner has hundred's of photo's that go with the car of the complete restoration process and invoices. The car speaks for it's self when you see it and inspect it. This car was sold new in Scottsdale,Az and stayed there it's entire life until it came to Amarillo,Tx to Gene Robertson Restorations in about 2008. It is loaded with all of the options and has two tops. The owner still lives in Scottsdale and she is 100 yrs old now. She has the original title and it is in her name and has never been transferred into any body else's name. She has endorsed the back for transfer of new ownership to the buyer. She also has some other original paper work too that goes with it. We sent off and got the window sticker for her. Her nephew Mike lived in a small town about 50 miles from Amarillo. He brought the car to us to restore and over seen the whole process for her. He took the car to the international show in Springfield, Mo last year to be judged. The first time showed it received a gold class and the senior award. He lives in Bartlesville, Ok now and the car is stored at his home at this point. He will be the one that will be showing the car for inspection. He also has all of the pictures, paper work, judging papers and award plaques, and title. Upon agreeing on a purchase price all funds and transitions will be with Mike. Thank you for viewing the ad and if you have any questions please send me a question or feel free to call me Greg Robertson (806) 477-2201. I tried to keep the story short because I could have wrote for a week about all of the small details and craftsmanship that makes this a very high end and correct restoration.Thank you again, Greg
