True documented rare SS ordered from factory with 396 engine, 3-speed Muncie floor shift and bench seat. . Ordered in June 1969 and delivered to the owner on August 2, 1969 by Bill Turner Chevrolet in Forest City NC. The car was ordered by one of my high school classmates and has had three owners, none more than 30 miles from the dealership. Please read the complete description below of the 18 month total frame-off restoration by a professional with over 40 years experience. I have the original protecto-plate, build sheet, and owners manual. Clear title in hand. It has a show quality restoration, but was restored with the intention of being able to drive anywhere. The speedometer shows 62,800 miles, I have talked to the past owners of the car and they feel the mileage is correct, however, since I can't verify it through paperwork, the car is being sold with mileage unknown. Approximately 150 miles on the car since restoration. Engine: 396/350HP. Engine was disassembled, the block was vatted, decked, and bored .030 over. Line honed, new freeze plugs, cam bearings, and reassembled with original crank turned .010. Eagle SIR I-Beam rods, JE pistons, Comp high energy 268 Cam, ARP bolt kit, new Milodon oil pump with new oil pan and timing cover. Complete valve job on original heads cut .010. New GM HEI distributor, fuel pump and new Quadrajet carburetor and radiator, pressure plate and clutch. Transmission:Original heavy duty Saginaw was disasembled, inspected, cleaned, painted and reassembled with new seals. Rear End: Original 12 bolt, 331 Ratio rear end cleaned, painted and serviced, with new gasket. Frame:Rust free frame was pressure washed and painted with POR15 chassis paint. New front brake calipers and pads. Rear drum brakes disassembled, cleaned and reassembled with new wheel cylinders and brakes, New Brake Master Cylinder. A-Frames blasted and powder coated with new ball joints, bushing kit and new tie rods. New shocks installed and a new stainless steel fuel tank with new fuel sending unit. Original Factory 14" SS wheels were blasted and painted with 4 new TA Radials mounted. New SS wheel centers were installed with new trim rings. Body:All original rust free floor pans and trunk were pressure washed and painted satin black. The body was media blasted with the only rust around the rear wheel openings. New rear quarter panels and wheel tubs were installed. The body was sealed with epoxy primer, then 5 coats of correct Lemans Blue metallic (Code 71) Chromabase was applied followed by 5 coats of Urethane Clear. The car was lightly color sanded, buffed and polished to a beautiful, better than factory new finish. The trunk was cleaned and painted with correct color Zolotone spray. The car has the original Jack and spare SS Wheel. Factory correct trunk mat installed. All new exterior emblems, complete new grille assembly, all new exterior lights and lens assemblies, and new bumpers matched to a new Magniflo exhaust system with correct chrome extensions. Interior:interior was stripped to the bare metal, cleaned, side and bottom sound-proofing installed with new carpet, correct new pre-assembled SS door panels, headliner, and newly recovered seats.A new Dash pad was installed with a new dash Assembly and new correct SS steering wheel. Original speedometer and warning lights work properly. A new Pioneer Stereo system was the only change to the original interior. A new windshield and rear window were installed. The original tinted side windows were used and have a few small scratches from 45 years, but nothing that detracts from the overall restoration. (cannot be captured in photos). The only upgrades to this factory correct vehicle was the upgrade of distributor to an HEI, new one-wire alternator and Pioneer Stereo system. This completely documented Chevelle is as nice as you will find anywhere and the reserve is way below the Classic Car, Excellent condition, value. Bid with confidence.
