HISTORY/BODY It's no secret that Chevrolet is an automotive division founded by, and named after, a prominent racecar driver. To celebrate the rampant success of the brand's NASCAR teams, GM decided to produce limited edition Monte Carlos that honored fans' favorite drivers. Without a doubt, Dale Earnhardt, a man whose name is virtually synonymous with the word Chevrolet, was one of the fans' most respected icons. The Intimidator project was initiated in 1998, when Earnhardt debuted the Intimidator Concept at the North American International Auto Show to preview NASCAR's influence on the sixth generation Monte Carlo. The first production Intimidator was essentially a run of 3,333 stripe-and-decal packages made available on the just adequate 2002 Monte Carlo SS. Then in 2004, when GM finally decided to gift the car their much-lauded supercharged V6, production ramped for 4,000 much-improved Intimidators. In addition to the hotter engine, now officially dubbed the Monte Carlo Supercharged SS, the car received an upgraded interior, an enhanced suspension and unique aesthetics. Naturally, a lot of Black paint was in order. NASCAR-style ground effects perfectly complemented a NASCAR-style deck spoiler. Red Chevrolet bowties joined red and silver "Intimidator SS" badging that could be found on the car's decklid and, in typical Monte Carlo fashion, just in front of the rear tires. And bright exhaust tips looked good trailing chrome, diamond-cut wheels. Logging only 6,522 miles over the course of 12 years, this particular 2004 Intimidator SS remains in great condition. And, aside from the car's "Intimidator" windshield banner and requisite Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet dealer decal, it rolls just as it left the showroom. DRIVETRAIN As you've probably gleaned, the sixth generation Monte Carlo was factory-equipped with GM's beefy 3800 Series II V6. And when customers checked the box for a top-option Supercharged SS, the car came equipped with a proven Eaton blower. Internally dubbed the L67, this relatively light engine is a highly reliable piece that has an excellent reputation for strong internals and impressive power. Behind the growling mill, a proven GM 4T65E-HD 4-speed makes excellent use of big displacement torque. That drivetrain rides on a wide MacPherson Strut performance suspension, which mixes standard traction control with a 10mm-reduced ride height. Stops are provided by large, power-assisted discs, which benefit from standard ABS technology. Exhaust rolls to bright stainless tips via stainless, factory-spec pipes. Power flows through diamond-cut, Intimidator-spec blades, which twist 235/55R17 Goodyear Eagle RS-As around familiar red bowties. And overall, this Chevy is an absolute delight to drive, serving as a high-water mark for the large, comfortable coupe niche that has all but disappeared. INTERIOR This sculpted Monte's sporty leather interior begins with Earnhardt-branded seats that feature 6-way power adjustment for the car's driver. In front of those seats, an Intimidator-branded dash hangs an optional 200-watt sound system between dual-zone climate control and trademark, Earnhardt-branded instrumentation. At the center of that dash, a narrow console founds a monochromatic shifter on clean carpet, color-keyed floor mats and brash Intimidator sills. Above those sills, simple door panels frame power windows, power door locks and power mirrors. A tilting, leather-wrapped steering wheel keeps cruise control and audio selection at the driver's fingertips. And a cavernous trunk continues the car's roomy theme. You are bidding on a rare first year 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. It has gold paint with a black top. I am the 3rd owner of the car. It was purchased by a lady that had it for many years before passing away. It was then purchased by a friend of mine. I watched him use it as a daily driver and I couldn't let him abuse this beauty anymore so I bought it and put it in the garage. It's got only roughly 67000 original miles. It's a 400 small block engine. I've replaced all tires, the brakes, head gaskets, battery, wiring, struts, muffler, and starter that can remember. It had a transmission flush and some general work done. I have replaced the speakers and put a CD player with 3.5 jack in the glove compartment. I've replaced the front right light bezel and the rims. I have had some carbonator work done but it could use more. I have replaced the dash and head board lamps and bezels along with the visors, knobs, headrests, and re-detailed the dashboard. I've had the locks redone as well as started fixing the air condition but it still needs a new hose. There is some minor rust residue in the wheel wells and some minor bubbling in a couple of places under the canvas top. There are no tears or rips on the top canvas or in the interior. Car runs pretty good but I don't drive her enough and hence looking for a good home. I keep her on a trickle charger most of the time. Still has the original warranty card, 8 track player. Cosmetic things that I replaced I made sure they fit a 1970 Monte Carlo. Interior is black with a wood grain dash. Car is a automatic. Heat works, but AC is not that cold due to the hose needing to be replaced. Windshield wipers work but sprayer does not, interior clock doesn't always work. Besides some love and care the only other main flaw that I can point out is there is a small hole behind the backseat that goes into the trunk. You can't see this unless it pointed out but thought I'd mention it since I bent down to get something and noticed it when looking in the trunk. It looks like someone locked the keys in the trunk or something, removed the backseat and cut a line to wiggle through. It is only noticeable when looking deep into the trunk. Comes with a spare tire. All interior and exterior lights work with the exception of the license plate light. There isn't any major body damage and to my knowledge all original with the exception of the bezel I mentioned above. Chrome does have some pitting. I have the title and it is clean. It is currently in my name. All in all a great example off this classic. Needs some work but drives fine as is as well! This is a pick up only auction. Thanks!

1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Black exterior / black interior 350 C.I.D engine / 350 turbo transmission A/C, power brakes, power steering, tilt wheel, cruise control - luxury muscle car Numbers matching – completely stock car. This car has the original motor and complete drivetrain. Engine completely rebuilt and bored .030 over – about 100 miles on car since engine rebuild 150,000 total miles on car. 12 coats black lacquer paint – hand rubbed. Paint is not perfect as it was painted many years ago and the lacquer paint has some minor cracks and splits. It has not come off anywhere. This car has been garage stored for 25 years. It is cranked and driven occasionally to make sure all the drivetrain is in working order. Currently has headers installed but I have the original exhaust manifolds. The interior of this car is a stock Monte Carlo interior, but it has been changed from original. The original bench seat was replaced with the Monte Carlo SS Super Sport bucket seats and was changed to black. All upholstery was replaced and never driven. Needs exhaust and brakes bled to be road ready. Needs all the chrome cleaned and polished. This is a beautiful car in terrific condition – just needs to be moved from a storage car to a driven car.
