I've had this vehicle for 5 years, I've been slowly restoring it, I've replaced the Dual Carberator, shocks, ball joints, brakes, gas tank, sway bars, and just recently replaced the floors and all with factory parts and lots and lots more, I have all the receipts of my purchases... "I DON'T CARE IF I SELL IT" I say this because I know what I got here, one of 20-24 cars left in the United States. The Vehicle runs but rough, the engine in it now is the wrong engine, it's a Dune Buggy engine, hence it LOUD and Noisey, just like Dune Buggy's are, the interior is rough, The Wheels and Tires are oversized, BUT I have the rest of the parts excluding the top, which is about $200.00 for the rag top. I HAVE: The Right engine, the correct rims and the brand NEW tires that were made for it, never on the ground, they still have the rubber nubbs on them to prove they're in fact brand new. I have the interior seat covers, the back seats have been recovered the only other thing you'd need is the accents teak on the dash, teak floor matts you know the little stuff.

This is a 1973 VW Thing Type 181. In perfect running condition. Shifts great, does not pop out of any gears, all new brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and lines. Tires are in great condition. No rips or tears in the interior, no holes in the floor, rust free car. Original bumpers were just stripped and re-powder coated. New convertible top. Windows are in great condition and are the plastic version not glass. Car was painted a couple of years ago and still has lots of shine. Registered in California with a clear title. All lights and blinkers work. Horn works. New seat belts. Windshield wipers work. Reverse lights are not hooked up and gas heater is not hooked up. The fuel line under the gas tank was disconnected. Car is very complete and does not need anything. Has all the original steel fenders. Hood opens and closes easily like it should. Car has never been hit in the front or rear. Does not need any body work or paint (unless you choose to paint it a different color). We added a glove box door. There are no holes cut in the body for speakers or anything like that. There are Bilstein shocks in front and rear. Has been garage kept. Little things it could use are hood seal, trunk seal, small items like that. Very clean custom Thing. New highest quality top and frame, new paint, 7 point roll bar with padding, tires, rebuilt interior, all rubber has been replaced. Starts easy and runs great. New headlights and taillights. Has original gas heater but I have never tried to start it. This vehicle is about 90% complete, still has a few little things needed but overall very nice.

1974 VW Thing. Has a 1676cc motor with dual side draft carbs. Motor has about 3500 miles on it. Super clean as you can see in the pictures. Body has no rust. Has some dents and scratches, like it should. Black interior is in good condition. Poked hole in driver bottom seat. Has glass side windows (curtains). From the Thing Shop. Front windows slide open. Front and rear duck boards. Has flat tail lights. Grant GT wood steering wheel. Granade shifter handle (just tack welded on) has front and rear water proof marine speakers. Front dash area has a spot for a radio in an ammo can. Has a new spare tire. Tires may have 3500 miles on them. Top frame is in good condition. Will need another top. As you can find them cheap here on eBay. Any questions just ask. Title in hand. Comes with a tow bar. Flat tows perfectly. Runs and drives. Can drive anywhere. Does 70mph down the freeway. I do have it for sale locally. May end at any time.

1973 VW THING, Orange/Black vinyl. Needs a full restoration. Engine runs fine. Trans has a shift problem, The odometer shows 8,000 miles but the PA title is marked "exempt". Optional Factory Gas Heater, Top has a tear, Side curtain frames are good but need recovered. There are 4 extra doors, extra engine lid. There are also side air scoops from a later model Thing that were not installed. Original jack and handle are included . Body has the usual rust under the back seat around the battery box. There is rust in the right doors and rocker panels. The driver side rocker panel was repaired and we don't know what is under the body filler. See photos of the car when it was up on a lift. I am helping my customer sell his VW Thing. He's had it since 2010 and has put less than 3,000 miles on it. I have many records of repairs. New gas tank and fuel pump in 2011. Thing header number 00-3425-0. Engine compartment seal. Front and rear VARGA wheel cylinders and master cylinder. Front to rear brake line.Upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends and steering dampener.Front and rear shocks. New tires.Voltage regulator and Wiring repairs. I rebuilt the speedometer and the fuel sending unit has been replaced.In August of 2013 I rebuilt the engine to get rid of a vibration. Turns out the camshaft had some strange tampering done to the rivets at the gear. Most recently the coil was replaced. He rebuilt the door windows and I love the work. It is thick plexi glass that won't give into the yellowing the origionals do. Very solidly done. The floors have been strengthened and coated to do away with any rust. This car is also listed locally and we reserve the right to remove this sale at any time.

Hello, I am selling my 1974 VW Thing. This car is one of the most beautiful and flawless cars I have ever owned. It was fully restored last year. I bought it for my wife as a birthday present and she has loved it since that day. The car drives beautifully and it is equipped with a 4spd short throw shifter. It has a roll cage and a brand new convertible top. The engine is a 1.6L that starts up everytime and was recently rebuilt about 6k miles ago. Classic wood decorative floor boards.
