1978 Porsche 911SC - Original Unrestored Car with 36,630 miles This is a great low mileage example of a first year 911SC Coupe. It has always been garaged and has only traveled 36,630 miles. Its totally original and it has had a recent $10,000 dollar engine out service to address chain tensioners and head studs that were weak in this model. It's original silver paint shows well and meters between 4 - 7 Mils and has been inspected by several painters. The interior is fantastic and has the highly sought aftervelour inserts with silver striping and the seats are in great shape. It has been professionally detailed and is ready to use. Hagerty's Description: History of the 1978-1983 Porsche 911Porsche engineers don’t make mistakes very often but the U.S. spec 2.7 liter 911s built between 1975 and 1977 were plagued with engine problems when new. In 1978, Porsche put those problems behind them with the introduction of the brilliant 3.0 liter 911SC. Porsche now finally mated a body that was capable of lasting indefinitely with an engine that was capable of lasting nearly that long. Well maintained 911SCs are capable of 300,000 miles between rebuilds. Power was up too from the 2.7 liter 911 although not by an enormous amount and the SC was good for a 0-60 run of about 6.3 seconds. Leather, A/C power mirrors, and forged alloy wheels became all but standard. The last year of the car saw the addition of the first full convertible Porsche since 1965. It wasn’t quite yet the perfect 911—that would have to wait until the 3.2 liter Carrera—timing chain tensioners and exploding airboxes would continue to plague the 3.0 liter cars. I have had this Porsche since 2005 and have completely restored it which includes a recent engine rebuild. This has been my baby for around 12 years now and now I need a down payment to buy a house so I need to sell it. This car is a matching numbers car with a clean title and has been garaged since the day I bought it. I practically read every Porsche book out there (Porsche performance handbook, 101 projects, engine rebuilding...) to keep this car in the shape it is in now. Im also a long time Pelicanparts member who purchases parts there and im continually asking other Porsche owners questions. I have owned many Porsche's (1991 964, 1977 911s...) however this car has been my first Porsche Ive purchased and most prized possession car. I only drive this car once a week and thats to get coffee, play golf or car shows. Motor was rebuilt (I have receipts and have pictures of engine teardown below). Never ever tracked. I have tried to keep the old look with new modern touches, like xenon headlights and a touchscreen Bluetooth headset. It has the original 3.0 motor with a MSD 6AL (with a rev limited set at 6k) and an aftermarket dual exhaust. Always used Brad Penn 20-50 oil, transmission fluid was flushed as well and refilled with SWEPCO. NO RUST (not even under the battery) and NO ACCIDENTS. I have done all of the work to this car, have kept track with all of the oil changes using Brad Penn, valve adjustments, plugs, installed a pop-off valve (Porsche owners know this is a must), CIS system has been tuned and adjusted regularly, back dated hard oil line to provide clearance for the headers, Magnaflow custom exhaust, upgraded Aero mirrors, upgraded door handles, roof spoiler, and a C2 body upgrade kit. I have always used 91 octane and never pushed this car, its really been babied. Compression test results (done on 1/14/17):Motor was at highest operating temperatureAltitude: 1280' (altitude does play a role in pressure readings) Cylinder 1: 171Cylinder 2: 172Cylinder 3: 170Cylinder 4: 170Cylinder 5: 169Cylinder 6: 171(see picture below showing results) Results: Show great compression per cylinder Does not leak at all, all seals are new, just put in all new Bosch injectors,a couple month old alternator and brand new SACHS clutch. Has power doors (added door poppers) with a remote and a full roll bar installed with fire extinguisher and a 1080p HD video camera. 18" ASA custom painted wheels wrapped in Sumitomo Z tires (more than 80% tread left), 8" in the front and 10" in the back. Not one dings,bends or repairs on these wheels. Car has wheel spacers installed along with stainless steel brake lines and cross drilled rotors. The car was painted 5 years ago and has always been garaged. Only imperfection on the car is on the right fender where i dropped my tool on it like an idiot and chipped the paint, shouldn't be hard to repair at all about 1/4". Has a 4 piece spoiler, roof spoiler and sunroof which works great. Custom suede door covers and MB quart speakers. Below are what I remember off the top, im sure there is more Ive done. Motor has under 10k on it since rebuild with fantastic compression numbers on all cylinders (see numbers above and compression pics below). I can park this car untouched for weeks and it will start up quicker than my new car. Please do not waste my time on low offers or trades, I know what this car is worth I've worked on it for over 12 years. I hate to let it go but it is time. See the video of the car running while I walk around it. Please let me know if you have any questions, Have pink on hand along with all of the maintenance paperwork the car has gone through. Just testing the waters, you have to see it to understand how clean this car is. I have a clean car fax report which I will include, car tags are up to date with no back dated registration fees. I have shipped a couple cars through eBay to the East Coast and I have no problem to help assist anyone. Has two keys and, 2 keyless fobs for the power door locks. PPI's are welcome. Porsche 911sc recently painted in Nardo Gray. Porsche 965 update, headlights, high beams, tail lights, turn signal, brake lights and side markers all in working condition. Targa top in great condition, no tears or fading.Interior is in great condition, seats have no tears or fading, carpet is good, door panels in fair shape, power windows, heat, all gages, dash clock, windshield wipers and interior lights work as they should. A/C fan works / compressor is not currently installed (needs to be hooked up and charged). Cigarette lighter and turn mirror switch not working. Original dash has cracks but currently covered with a dash cap that looks great.Engine 3.0 L runs strong, starts right up and has good compression and leak down. Engine bay is clean and dry, it has your normal 3.0 oil leaks but it is minor. New plug wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, fuel accumulator and fuel injectors. 915 transmission shift smooth up shifting and down shifting in all gears with no leaks. BBS style offset 18x10 18x9 wheels with new front tires and 70% tread on rear tires, body and pan clean with no rust. Always garaged.This is not a typical 911sc, having a professionally done steel wide body with the 965 update in nardo gray and 18'' black BBS wheels makes it stand out amongst the rest.Being a 1978 it does have small blemishes here and there, small chips in winshield, small scratches in paint... this is not a perfect show car but overall looks amazing! We went through the car and completed the refurbishment of the interior, exterior (including targa top), and wheels. We turned our attention to the motor, where a compression and leak down test revealed worn valve guides. We removed the engine from the car, disassembled the top end. Our machinist rebuilt the cylinder heads, installing new valves, guides, and seals,. We completely detailed the motor to original factory look. During the rebuild we included upgraded seals for the rocker arm shafts, new head studs for the block, and a safety "pop off" valve for the injection. The parts list is quite extensive. Throughout our work list, every task was performed to return the car to original pristine condition."

Up for sale Is my 1983 Porsche 911SC Coupe. I bought this car from Virginia where it spent its entire life. This car has been maintained with no expense spared since day one. The paint on the car is in amazing condition, few little rock chips on the hood and passenger side fender. List of new parts including fuel pump, starter, stainless steal brake lines, performance pads and calipers. Koni sport adjustable shocks, torsion bars front and rear, brand new Bridgestone Potenza's, Porsche 930 tie rods. Engine was overhauled at about 118k miles and transmission at 104k. I drove this car back from Virginia without a problem and would trust it to go anywhere at any time. This is a 1980 911Sc with 47 miles. It was a barn find and was restored with all OEm parts. Nothing really needed done but the conversion kit. It did have engine cleaned and exhausted powder coated to 1800 Degrees. The interior is perfect. It has the "Vintage Porsche" Smell. This was my late husbands garage queen and I do not drive it but around the block and then park it again to keep the fluids moving. The seats are not showing signs of wear and the only visible thing I notice is the hood has some road rash but not a lot. It has a new clutch and any new parts all OEM were put in when the engine was out for a cleaning and the conversion in 2013. This car has been kept under a cover and never seen rain or snow. It even has the original amplifier from 1980 and the original radio with working antenna. I hate to part with it but for it to just sit and not be enjoyed is a waste.. The tool kit is complete including the white gloves.
