This was the personal car of Brad Ripley (Porsche, Stoddard, 356 NLA) and was professionally built by Stoddard. At the time of the modifications to the car it was repainted to a high standard but that was many years ago. Today the paint still show well overall but has some flaws as seen in the photos. To my knowledge there is no significant rust on this car just some areas of minor surface rust as seen in the photos. The interior retains factory dashpad, door panels, carpeting, headliner, guages, seat belts, A/C etc. All electronics and lights function with the exception of the clock (works but doesnt keep accurate time), odometer (stopped recently) and the tach is starting to 'bounce'. The steering wheel, shift knob, and seats were changed in favor of more performance oriented units. The factory engine was replaced with a 1972 911T case built to 2.8L twin plug specifiction. The transmission is a type 911 dogleg 5 speed and contains 'Aiport Gears' which has a tall 1st gear and shorter tighly spaced 2nd-5th gears. Suspension and brake components were upgraded accordingly and are in keeping with the rest of the build. The car runs and drives very well with great power, excellent handling, and road manners. The car tracks straight and exhibits absolutely no creeks, rattles, or other abnormal noises. Recent maintenance (last 2 years with receipts and under 1000 miles since):- New twin plug cap/rotor- New Spark plugs upper and lower- New gas tank and fuel accumulator- New oil tank level sender and pressure sender units- New clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout/pilot bearing, clutch cable, flywheel bolts- New reversed light switch- New Falcon 912 tires all around (205/55/15, 225/50/15)- New (2) Interstate batteries- New hood and engine lid struts- New exhaust and heat exchanger gaskets- Valve adjustment and cover gaskets (still have minor leak)- Carb rebuild/jetting and manifold gaskets- Timing set- Vehicle lowered and aligned- Turbo tie rods - Rear brake calipers rebuilt, pads, and brake flush/fillCar Highlights:- Free of significant rust- Accident free- Clean and clear California title (in my name)- Factory A/C car with all parts in place (have not tested)- Factory tinted glass except replacement front windshield- All seals on car excellent- Rear SC/RS quarter panels- All steel car with factory 'S' front and rear bumpers- Factory 'S' guages- Perfect H-1 headlight with raised letter glass- Nice front and rear turn lenses- SWB Durant mirror- 2.8L twin plug engine: 'S' spec cams/heads, race crank- 906/911R/911ST Marelli 12 lead distributor- 906/911R/911ST distributor controls in dash above tach- Dual MSD ignition- Front RS trombone oil cooler with hard lines (car runs cool)- Weber 40ida made in Italy with tall secondary tubes36 vents, 155 mains, 175 air, 60 idles, F3 emulsionsteel braided fuel lines- SSI heat exchangers/Custom sport muffler- 911 5spd transmission w/ 'Airport Gears'- Hurst Airheart 4 piston calipers, drilled rotors, steel lines- Upgraded suspension, bars, turbo tie rods- Mint Fuchs 15x7 and 15x8 wheels - Very cool large diameter raid steering wheel and solid hub- Clean dash with no cracks- Nice original door panels with pockets- Matched Pair L/R Recaro Rallye II seatsThis car has lived a good life with care from 911 specialists and collector ownership. It was built before the current R Gruppe/Outlaw craze and has withstood the test of time. What is for sale here is a sports purpose interpretation of the early 911 that has fantastic looks and great performance without sacraficing comfort or practicality. It fills a void in the marketplace between uninspiring factory cars needing attention ($$$) and mega buck builds that wont see the street often if ever. This car is in great driver condition and needs nothing to be used regularly and reliably. If you want a car like this you should know that it is usually better to buy than build. RS America was a lightened, limited edition, performance version of the venerable Porsche 911 to commemorated the 20th Anniversary and spirit of the original 1973 Carrera RS. According to Porsche Cars North America, as published in the Porsche fact book for 1993:The RS America is a new derivative of the Carrera 2 for drivers who demand an even higher level of feedback - feedback so detailed, so precise that it usually is found only in racing cars. The designation of RS, German for Renn Sport or Race Sport, is traditionally reserved for the highest performance Porsches. In a Porsche RS model, refinements in the suspension, steering, wheels and tires all work in combination with perfectly coordinated weight reduction to create a dramatically different driving feel. This 1993 Porsche 911 964 RS America is a factory white/black example with following options, Limited Slip and Air Conditioning. This is an early production # 96 of the first 100 made. The car is fundamentally stock and looks fantastic with the M030 sport suspension package, which included the factory installed running gear from the 911 C2 Turbo, leading to higher performance limits. The Turbo's progressively wound coil springs, larger diameter front stabilizer bar, and upgraded shock absorbers were also standard equipment for the RS America, as were 17 diameter C2 Turbo wheels. The RSA rims were 7 wide on the front and 8 wide on the rear (as opposed to the 7 wide front and 9 wide rear wheels of the C2 Turbo). Having spent all of it life in the San Francisco Bay Area, the condition reflects that of a consistently well cared for example. An additional bonus is that last 4 owners being were PCA members and it was driven an average of just under 10000 miles per year. Under his ownership and as well as previous owners, careful and consistent maintenance has been the rule in in how this car was cared for. Rebuilt Engine; Our service dept shop foreman has been up and done this engine with a fine-tooth-comb and all indications are that the engine was rebuilt by a reputable shop as every nut and washer is as it should be. Though we without receipts we done know when or who did the work. Moreover cylinder leak down variation was no more that 4% from cylinder to cylinder, which is consistent with a rebuilt engine.(Cylinder Leak down results are 8%, 4%, 6%, 4%, 4%, 6% Compression test also revealed a variation of no more than 3% from cylinder to cylinder with 160-165 on all cylinders. With the above results, Its truly unlikely that of all Porsche engines, that a 964 engine could have over 200k miles on it and not been rebuilt The suspension has been upgraded with shocks, springs, bushings and sway bars. Additional maintenance items have been replace such as windshield, steering rack, wheels refinished, rebuilt brake calipers, serviced axles, new battery. Transmission shifts fine into all gears and clutch feel is great with no slippage or jittering The paint and body is in excellent condition with no evidence of anything more that maintenance type paint work though front bumper was replaced at some point. We found no sign of any major body repairs or frame damage anywhere on or under the car Interior is in fantastic shape with no sun damage, rips or tears in the upholstery. Steering wheel stitching and finish is in excellent shape and dash is near perfect. Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time.
