The performance numbers on these cars are incredible. Yet, their ease of use made them a great daily driver option. Talking with countless Porsche mechanics, they all agree that these Turbos are among the most reliable that Porsche ever built. This Turbo was built in October of 2000 and sold new in November of 2000. Although the Turbos came with many standard features that were options on the lower models, this one was still nicely equipped with the following factory options: Stainless steel door entry guards with logos Front bumperettes delete Heated front seats Automatic dimming mirrors (center and sides) and rain sensing Wheel center caps with colored crests DSP digital sound processing Becker CDR-22 CD radio CD compartment Rear window wiper This Porsche has been in California since January of 2002. The current owner purchased it from a colleague in 2005. Between the two of them, they have not only owned it most of its life, but have been responsible for investing well over $15,000 in tasteful enhancements. All the work was done by Hergesheimer Motorsports (one of SoCal’s top respected independent Porsche repair shops). Upgrades include: Revo Tek software IPD 75mm intake plenum Upgraded throttle housing New boost hoses Baily diverter valves K24 (x50/GT2) Turbos Bilstein PSS9 suspension system/corner balanced and aligned Short shift kit Hard-wired for Valentine-One radar detector Integrated aux cord (3.5mm) for MP3 Powdercoated satin black stock wheels Aluminum gas and dead pedals Over the past 13-years either the Porsche dealer or Hergesheimer has maintained this vehicle. Highlights of significant services include: Coolant expansion tank Clutch slave cylinder and accumulator Replaced rear spoiler hydraulic drive system Air mass sensor Oil services every 3k-miles Full detail every other month Hankook tires (less than 2k-miles ago) Replace spark plugs (@ 30k-miles) Major service at 30k-miles In addition to being well cared for in terms of services and detailing, this Turbo was always garaged and used primarily for light weekend cruising. It was never tracked or abused. As a result, the condition is excellent. All the paint is original and verified with a paint meter. There are minimal signs of use…far less than you would expect with a Porsche of this age. The wheels look great with no curb rashes and are wearing near full tread tires. The brakes have just under half-life remaining. The glass is all-original and in excellent condition as well. The taillight lenses have the typical superficial stress cracks that are on most wide body 996 examples (see pics). The interior is equally as nice. The leather seats look fantastic with no cracks or tears. The carpet, dash, door panels, and headliner look perfect. The rear view mirror automatic dimming function doesn’t work and there is a change in the glass look (see pic). All the gauges, lights, radio, and A/C function properly. There is a reason why 996 Turbo values have been creeping up over the past few years…they are fantastic to drive and very reliable. The power is intoxicating on this example. The upgraded GT2 turbos spool with ease and have minimal lag. Power is estimated at 550hp or maybe even more. The shifting is smooth and precise. Handling is spot on and drives straight down the road. The upgraded suspensions really make turning crisp without sacrificing the ride comfort. The brakes have great initial bite with no fading. This Turbo would make an excellent daily driver or weekend touring machine. California registration is paid through the January of 2018 and it just past California’s strict smog test. This Turbo comes with an extra key, tool roll, space saver spare, jack, air compressor, owner’s manuals, and car cover. IMPORTANT 1999 Beautiful Porsche 911 Carrera 996interior is in very good shape, exterior is in overall great shape, there is small dent on the rear deck lid (see picture) but paint is great, no fading.engine runs strong no issues, oil changed on time, no ims rms issues, always check oil filter when changing oil, this car has been driven as it should be (IMS issues arise with low mile garage queens that sit) power windows, locks, cold AC, moon roof.Recently had car checked out, recommendation was front struts to be replaced + the car has the 4th gear synchronizer problem (common issue on these cars) i myself just shift from 3rd to 5th skipping 4th so it doesn't bother me- however it is an issue and thats why i'm selling the car at this low price as i dont have time to get it fixed (nor do i need to, car runs perfect skipping 4th) , i know the part is $200 and shops charge about 8-10 hours labor to install. The car runs strong and trans shifts great through all other gears.Taxes and DMV fees will be collected towards registration upon selling the vehicle. This is the car you spent your childhood dreaming of driving. Gorgeous, fast, fun to drive, daily driver. This is my favorite car but I bought a F350 dually for work and wife wont let me have 2 car payments. I'd buy it back as soon as I can but after you drive it you will love it too. You are looking at a gorgeous 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera! 996 Series (1998–2004) After 34 years in production the famous air-cooled 911 was replaced by an all-new water-cooled model. Known as the Type 996, this car was a major leap for Porsche, although many of the traits that defined the 911 during past decades still remained. With the new model there was finally a newly designed bodyshell (all previous 911s being based on the original 1963 shell). As with the 993 before it the 996 was also a significant model, but mainly for the way it was conceived and designed, and the effect it had on Porsche during the 1990s. Pundits criticized the 996's styling a great deal, largely because it shared its headlamps— indeed much of its front end, mechanically— with the less expensive Boxster. The 996 had been on the drawing board first and was a more advanced car in some respects, but the cost-cutting seemed inappropriate for an expensive car. Otherwise, the Pinky Lai-penned shape followed the original Butzi Porsche design very closely; the Carrera model had a 0.30 coefficient of drag. The interior was further criticized for its plainness and its lack of relationship to prior 911 interiors, although this came largely from owners of older 911s. The Type 996 spawned over a dozen variations, including all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S (which had a 'Turbo look') models, the club racing-oriented GT3, and the forced-induction 996 Turbo and GT2. The Turbo, four-wheel-drive and twin-turbo, often made appearances in magazines' lists of the best cars on sale. 996 GT3 RS The Carrera and Carrera 4 underwent revisions for model year 2002, receiving clear lens front and rear indicator lights which were first seen on the Turbo version two years earlier. This allowed the 911 to be more distinguishable from the Boxster. A mildly revised front fascia was also introduced, though the basic architecture remained. Engine wise, displacement was 3.4 L and power 300 PS (221 kW) featuring dry sump technology and variable valve timing, increased in 2002 to 3.6 L and 320 PS (235 kW). The roof system on the convertible transformed the car from a coupe to a roadster in 19 seconds. The car is equipped with a rear spoiler that raises at speeds over 120 km/h (75 mph). It can also be raised manually by means of an electric switch. Starting from the models with water-cooled engines, 911 Carreras do not come with rear limited-slip differential, except the 40th Anniversary 911, GT2, GT3 and Turbo This particular Porsche is in great shape.
