Only 6,068 GTS cars were produced with 1989 being the most sought after because of refinements with engine, suspension, braking, and interior changes for the series. The values of these cars have been going up and show no sign of wavering. Obviously many enthusiasts are hoping to find a great one before the ship sails and they become similar to the 246 Dino in desirability for an era of boomers and gen-x’ers and pricing goes out of reach. With that out of the way, let’s talk about this car. The car is really immaculate and ready for your collection and being entered in concours events across the US. You would be hard-pressed to find a nicer car at this price level in this condition. Ordered in Rosso Corsa with Beige leather interior and Beige carpets, this classic color combination is undeniably gorgeous and what most people first think of when someone mentions a Ferrari. It takes the fan favorite Magnum PI 308 and brings it to that next, more modern level with many, many upgrades and refinements mechanically and aesthetically. The car was delivered brand new, April 7, 1989 at Steve Kessler Motorcars in New York. The 328 is considered a very reliable car and one of the lowest cost Ferrari’s to maintain and this one is no exception. The car has only needed annual services for fluids, brakes, battery, hoses, and inspections along with recall campaigns the last 26 years. The car has been serviced several times for major services in its life – most recently at Ferrari of Central New Jersey and a sought after old-school independent trained at the factory. Last week, we had new belts and bearings installed and another major service performed. We added brand new tires, shiny new lug bolts, and had a new battery put in. We had the mechanic go over the car piece by piece to make sure it is just as good mechanically as the car looks aesthetically. We’ve never had any trouble with it and it’s been bulletproof. The 328 had only 19,520 miles at time of the photo shoot last week. It will likely have a few more miles added because of service updates at the dealer prior to sale. As you can see from the photos, the 328 is in wonderful condition. We have made sure it was well taken care of. The original paint is in great shape with no real noticeable marks or issues. The leather interior is unmarred and the seat bolsters are in excellent condition, with nothing more than very light signs of use on the driver’s side. The dash has no leather pulling. The spare wheel and tire up front have never been used. The vinyl trunk cover zips correctly without any gaps. A second Alpine radio replaced the original Sony the dealer installed and it works fine. The windows are clear and they go up and down normally so for those that crave an all-OEM car, this one is ready for Classiche certification, concours, car shows, etc. All doors and lids open and align properly. Basically, the car is just what you would expect with low-miles and one caring owner. The manual steering is fantastic and provides the full, small, go-cart type feel that has been lost with newer models. The gated, 5-speed manual gearbox is smooth after a warm up as all the older cars take a little heat in the oil to get into 2nd gear smoothly. The clutch is easy to use and solidly biting. The brakes with the ABS work as intended with good pedal feel. The car revs and accelerates very smoothly and strongly. The car has the OEM stock exhaust. The tubi doesn’t really improve much on the 328 sound – just saving some weight. You will be having fun with both hands and feet with this car. The car comes with original owners manual, stamped maintenance book, and leather pouch as well as the emergency service light. The car comes with two original ignition keys and two door keys included. It also has the original window sticker and bill of sale. There are only a few, real detractions for the the near-perfect car. It does not have any covers for the car, seats, or wheel. They were misplaced after moving to a new house in the past. The targa top mounting pin is a little worn from use. And the rear bumper was repainted after a bump in a grocery store parking lot while the car was parked. You won’t notice or be disappointed with the work done to fix it, but we want to disclose everything to the new buyer. No other issues. We’d find a set of the covers on ebay and a set of matching Schedoni luggage to make the car fully as complete as possible. We have the clear New Jersey title from 1989 in hand. This particular 328 GTS was built in August 1989 and it was one of the very last 328's ever made! Model year 1989 production #'s starts at 78835 and ends 83136 and my 328 GTS is 82959. This Ferrari is investment quality with less than 19k miles and it was the Ferrari Club of America Platinum Concours (First Place) award winner at Concorso Italiano, as shown in photos. This model is much rarer than many people realize. Only 1089 328GTS models were produced in 1989 (see link below) and very few were made in blue. This car was designed when Enzo Ferrari was still alive and it has the coveted 5 speed gated shifter. With the average new Ferrari costing about $275k, these cars are relative bargains now and are starting to increase in value. They are not making any more of these and this model is becoming very hard to find, especially with only about 18.8k miles. Furthermore, the 1989 model is the most desirable and most valuable to collectors due to a number of refinements including ABS brakes. This model is in a rare and gorgeous blue metallic color. It has an excellent service history and it had a major $8k service less than 700 miles ago, so it is ready to enjoy. I was going to keep this car forever, but I rarely drive it because it is kept in a garage at a relative's house which is not close to where I live and they plan to move so I need to sell the car as I don't have the garage space. If this award winning, extremely low mileage and well-serviced car was at a dealer the price would be significantly higher. In Europe, these cars cost about twice as much on average as they do here and many Europeans are buying these cars in the US and shipping them back. With a very high serial number of 82959, this is one of the last 328's ever produced (83136 was the last one making this one of the last 200 ever made). This adds to the collectibility and investment quality of this car. These cars are not depreciating in value, in fact they are going up and are poised for very big gains in the coming years. If you buy a new Porsche for over $100k, you can watch it depreciate to about $35k over the next 10 years. I think a classic car like this makes a lot more sense financially because it is likely to rise in value, and it is much rarer than a 911. In 10 years or so, a top example 328 GTS could follow the same price trajectory as the model it replaced: A top, award winning and low mileage example of the 246 GTS can go for about $500k. Due to its exceptional interior and exterior condition, this particular car is an award winner as it has the platinum award from the Vintage Concours in Woodland Hills. This car includes all books, tools, service records since new, both keys, (two sets) and a clean carfax report. This car comes with a trickle charger which makes it easy to maintain. Of course it also comes with the Platinum Concours Award plaque as shown in the photo. This is an investment quality car due to it being a 1989 model, a concours award winner, one of the last 328's ever produced, it has a rare blue color, an exceptionally clean tan interior and because of the extremely low miles and proper service history since it was new. The spare wheel and tire up front have never been used. The vinyl trunk cover zips correctly without any gaps. A second Alpine radio replaced the original Sony the dealer installed and it works fine (but I don’t really use it). The windows are clear. I never had them further tinted and they go up and down normally so for those that crave an all-OEM car, this one is ready for Classiche certification, concours, car shows, etc. All doors and lids open and align properly. Basically, the car is just what you would expect with low-miles and one caring owner. The manual steering is fantastic and provides the full, small, go-cart type feel that has been lost with newer models. The gated, 6-speed manual gearbox is smooth after a warm up as all the older cars take a little heat in the oil to get into 2nd gear smoothly. The clutch is easy to use and solidly biting. The brakes with the ABS work as intended with good pedal feel. The car revs and accelerates very smoothly and strongly. The car has the OEM stock exhaust. The tubi doesn’t really improve much on the 328 sound – just saving some weight, so I never added one. You will be having fun with both hands and feet with this car. The car comes with original owners manual, stamped maintenance book, and leather pouch as well as the emergency service light. The car comes with two original ignition keys and two door keys included. It also has the original window sticker and bill of sale. There are only a few, real detractions for the the near-perfect car. It does not have any covers for the car, seats, or wheel. I misplaced them after moving to a new house in the past. The targa top mounting pin is a little worn from use. And the rear bumper was repainted after a bump in a grocery store parking lot while the car was parked. I filed a claim to cover the work. You won’t notice or be disappointed with the work done to fix it, but I want to disclose everything to the new buyer. No other issues. I’d find a set of the covers on ebay and a set of matching Schedoni luggage to make the car fully as complete as possible. I have the clear New Jersey title from 1989 in hand. I am happy to email copies of the current CARFAX report along with VIN / chassis numbers to serious buyers. I welcome PPI’s at buyer’s expense. You will find the car just as described.
