This particular 1972 Plymouth Duster 340, however, isn't some smog-strangled commuter, but one of Chrysler's hottest performance cars of the era, and it's exceptionally nice. Code V2 Tor-Red ideally captures the spirit of the times and stands out today for those of us who like a bit of nostalgia with our old cars. And while the Duster was technically an economy car, this one has had a bunch of time spent getting it into shape, both externally and under the hood. For a '72 Duster, this one must have been pretty clean to begin with, which is a rare thing all on its own, because the quality of the car is just over-the-top, particularly at this price. We're undecided as to whether this is an exceptional original car or a nicely restored unit, but the finish has a deep shine that shows well and it isn't perfect, so it'll keep everyone else guessing, too. The doors fit well, the quarters are smooth, and the blacked-out hood with 340 graphics and a white sport stripe along the flanks clearly identify this as a piece of Mopar muscle. The chrome and trim is probably original and looking its age, with some light pitting on the bumpers, but again, as a low-dollar high-performance machine, this one has a lot going for it. The basic theme continues inside with a super clean black bench seat interior, complete with matching carpets and door panels. It's got a matching set of Duster-logo floor mats and the Duster does a good job of blending economy and performance, with durable materials, a Hurst 4-speed shifter, and precious little else. And even as a value-priced entry, this Duster comes complete with a full array of informative gauges from the factory, although the tach and oil pressure gauge are not working. The woodgrained applique on the instrument panel warms things up a bit and we've always liked Chrysler's 3-spoke steering wheel, which looks sporty, not cheap. There is only an AM radio but that only means it's ready for the head unit of your choice and the rest is street-racer basic: crank windows, manual steering, and only a heater and defroster. The trunk is surprisingly large for a compact car like this, and carries a correct mat. Obviously there's a 340 cubic inch V8 under the hood and it's got a very authentic look that's right in line with other Mopar performance cars. The air cleaner advertises the 4-barrel carburetor underneath, there's Hemi Orange paint on the block, and a set of headers helps built low-end torque. Supporting equipment includes a big radiator, a fresh battery, and a new dual exhaust system with stock-style mufflers polished oval tips peeking out under the rear bumper. The 4-speed manual transmission was becoming an endangered species in 1972, but without it, this car becomes ho-hum, so we're thrilled to see it here. You'll find the original 8.75-inch rear end out back and the rest of the chassis look very clean and tidy with only a set of air shocks deviating from stock spec. 14-inch Rallye wheels offer a classic performance look and wear fat Firestone Firehawk radials. This neat little Plymouth is the perfect entry-level, high-quality muscle car with V8 power in a very affordable package. Well, things just got serious with this 1972 Duster coupe, which gets all the traditional Duster stuff right (low cost, cool look) and adds a 21st century twist in the form of a fuel-injected 5.7 liter Hemi and a 5-speed automatic transmission, creating one heck of a cool resto-mod with an even cooler price. There's just no way you could build this car yourself for the asking price, and if this car is still in the showroom two weeks from now, I'll be shocked. The dark blue paint and strobe stripes give it a familiar look, and if nothing else, the guys at Chrysler were keeping the performance look alive in the dark days of the early 1970s. Add in a blacked-out hood and a Go-Wing out back, and you get a compact package that looks like fun and wants to run. Paint and bodywork are acceptable, but at this price, you aren't expecting concours perfection anyway. Instead, it's pure driver-grade, and there's no shame in that, especially since it will be even more adept at luring in unsuspecting drivers on the street who figure it's just another garden-variety small block Duster. The decals are recent, so they're crisp and nicely rendered and the sheetmetal and panel gaps are quite good throughout, so it's obviously been a clean car all its life. Add in a few discreet HEMI emblems on the front fenders, however, and this car is going to generate a few double-takes. The interior got a modern makeover, too, but doesn't lose any of its honesty and working-class roots. The bench seat does a reasonable impersonation of buckets and the black upholstery is in good order with no splits or tears. Recent black carpets look good and offer a correct heel pad for the driver, and the fat steering wheel looks a lot like a vintage Tuff Wheel. The original dashboard is intact but the gauges are now modern digital units that look awesome behind a smoked Plexiglas screen and a custom B&M shifter allows do-it-yourself shifting of the modern-tech automatic gearbox. The original AM radio is in the dash, but it's overdue for a replacement anyway and it just doesn't go with the rest of the car anyway. There's also a reasonably spacious back seat and a giant trunk that still carries its original mat as well as a relocated battery. They moved that battery to make room for the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 that now lives under the hood. The fuel-injected Magnum is a neat fit in the Duster's engine bay and provides the instant starting, easy idling, and good fuel economy that we've come to expect from our modern daily drivers. It's a big performance boost over the original wheezing 318 and service access remains very good. Front disc brakes were added, along with a big electric fan for the radiator, and the wiring and plumbing is rather clean, especially that remote-mounted oil filter. Underneath you get a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission, so this is a very easy highway cruiser and that injected HEMI sounds awesome exhaling through a custom Flowmaster exhaust system with turn-downs just ahead of the 8.75-inch rear axle. A new gas tank hangs out back and it really nails the sleeper vibe with those 14-inch Rallye wheels and white-letter tires. A very slick resto-mod with a ton of potential, this Duster already has all the hard work finished. It's a blast to drive and with a few additional tweaks, it could be one of the most amazing sleepers we've seen in a long time. This 1969 GTX packs a numbers-matching 440, a freshly restored interior, and a long list of options that make it an A-list ride for any Mopar fan. Refinished in its original W1 Alpine White, making it a relatively rare beast, this gorgeous GTX's restoration was completed a few years ago and still looks decent, although there are a few signs of age today. Those massive quarters are tough to get right but they look quite good here, the gaps are awfully sharp, and fresh satin black rockers and stripes give the big, white machine a nasty disposition. The satin black hood stripes were properly painted on, adding a sinister look that's all out of character for the GTX but totally awesome to look at. There's also a correct grille with red accents to go with the inserts on the hood and proper GTX badges were affixed to the lower quarter panels. A fresh black vinyl roof was installed, matching the original texture, and hiding no surprises underneath, and we have to admit that we really like the look of the black roof on a white car, especially with those stripes. The chrome bumpers are in very good condition and if you're a Mopar fan, you're going to dig the fender-mounted turn signal indicators. The black bucket seat interior appears to be factory fresh, giving you an idea of how much someone cared for this car. Almost everything you can see or touch is new, including the seat covers, door panels, and carpets, and the only possible demerit is some bubbling under the faux wood panels in back, but it's pretty minor. Optional gauges include temperature, ammeter, oil pressure, and a rare factory tach (sadly, not operational), and the center console includes the familiar Mopar shifter, albeit topped with a wood knob that's ideal for the upscale GTX. This one also carries the original (and rare) R22 AM/8-track radio, although it's been disconnected in favor of an AM/FM/CD head unit discreetly tucked under the dash. In the massive trunk there's a new mat and a full-sized spare tire with jack assembly, and the texture on the quarter panels strongly suggests that they are original to the car. This car's biggest claim to fame is the 375 horsepower 440 under the hood. With matching numbers, it was fully rebuilt to stock specs and runs superbly. The engine bay is nicely detailed with Hemi Orange paint, a correct air cleaner assembly, and a set of beautifully finished exhaust manifolds. Other important details are the reproduction hoses and clamps, a new ballast resistor on the firewall, and a set of finned valve covers that aren't quite correct but look great nonetheless. The 727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic has also been rebuilt and snaps through the gears even with all that big block torque churning through it. In addition, it now spins a tough 8.75-inch rear end, which includes 3.23 gears, so it's a nice highway cruiser that isn't handicapped at the stop light grand prix. The floors were replaced and the workmanship is quite good, so no worries there, and a reproduction dual exhaust system has just the right rumble. Magnum 500 wheels are a perennial favorite and carry redline radials for modern handling and vintage looks. Mopar fans, don't miss this opportunity to own a matching-numbers, fully sorted big block GTX with an unusual color combination. This 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Super Bird tribute offers all the performance and jaw-dropping looks at a fraction of the price of a real one, and with a lot of authentic parts, even the pros might need to give this one a closer look before deciding if it's real. It's just too cool to own a car that was so fast it was outlawed, and that's a big part of the thrill of the Super Bird. This replica has exactly the right look, thanks to a genuine steel nose cone and towering rear wing, both of which were actually used on NASCAR-spec cars when they were new. Other little details that are correct include the vents on the fenders and the extended hood, not to mention the Petty Blue paint, which really is the only color for a Super Bird. The only possible demerit might be the lack of a vinyl top (all 'Birds used a vinyl top to hide the sloppy work needed to eliminate the tunnel-like rear window), but you have to admit that it looks ultra-clean without it. It does have all the correct markings a decals, which are a big part of the Super Bird look, and to be honest, this tribute car fits together better than many originals, which is a testament to the effort invested in the build. This was clearly a labor of love. The Super Bird had a standard Road Runner interior, and you could get any options you wanted, so finding buckets and a console is a nice treat here. The seat covers are recent and look great on the high-back buckets and there's nice woodgrain on the console that matches the steering wheel. The dash offers a full array of Rallye gauges, including a factory Tick-Tock-Tach, as well as a pair of auxiliary gauges underneath. You'll be surprised to see A/C on this one, a very cool addition to the features list, although it probably needs a recharge to be fully effective. An AM/FM/cassette stereo lives in the center of the dash, up high where it's easy to see, and the back seat looks almost new. The Super Bird's trunk is positively massive and includes a correct mat and space-saver spare with jack assembly, correct braces for the wing, plus the signatures of Richard Petty and Dave Inman. Too cool! The 440 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt to stock specs, and while it's not a Six-Pack, it does generate the kind of big torque that makes this Super Bird a blast to drive on the street. Nicely detailed and fairly stock looking, it's got a big dual-snorkel air cleaner up top, completely with reproduction decals, plus Hemi Orange paint and a set of finned valve covers for dress-up. A big radiator up front means this smooth V8 stays cool and with power steering and a TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission, it's surprisingly easy to drive for something with this much speed potential. A recent dual exhaust snarls and cackles the way it should and the underside of the car is shockingly clean, albeit not detailed for show. There are no major deviations from stock, which means you get the real experience. And we love the plain-Jane steel wheels and poverty caps wrapped in fat 255/60/15 BFG radials for an industrial-strength look. Priced a Super Bird lately? Yeah, incredible. So if you want the feel and the gawking stares as you drive by, why not take this tribute for a spin instead. It's just as much fun for a lot less cash. If you like your muscle wrapped in a more grown-up package, this Belvedere is what you need. Just one look at this low, muscle-bound Belvedere and you know it means business. There's nothing on the car that doesn't belong there and it isn't trying too hard to be something it isn't. Instead, it's got a purposeful look that doesn't call a lot of attention to itself and it's not so perfect that other street racers will be wary. The repaint was done a few years ago and it's not perfect anymore, but the industrial-strength look works best when it's got a few battle scars. Dark blue works well, giving the car a grown-up look that gets attention, and the bright trim along the flanks highlights the arrow-straight styling. The chrome is probably original, so it's a little tarnished, but a little elbow grease will brighten it up and take the car up a notch or two. The two-tone blue interior has an upscale look and feel and it's in very good shape with firm, comfortable seats, nice carpets, and a 4-speed sticking out of the transmission tunnel. The door panels, headliner, and dash pad are original and in reasonably good condition and the back seat doesn't look like it's seen much action at all and still looks great. The big steering wheel has a leather wrap to make it a bit more substantial and everybody loves the pistol-grip shifter that was one of Chrysler's trademarks in the 1960s. The Belvedere got a full complement of gauges and the original AM radio is still in the dash, and that's one thing that's probably due for an upgrade. The trunk is positively massive, as you'd expect from a full-sized car like the Belvedere, and it has a correct plaid mat that gives it a finished look. But the real reason these Plymouths were the weapon of choice for street racers on Woodward Avenue is under the hood. This one is packing a built 440 cubic inch V8, which, at a glance, looks pretty stock. However, under that air cleaner there's an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and a Torker II intake manifold, and the idle suggests a healthy camshaft inside. Hemi Orange paint stands out in the satin black engine bay and you can tell this one was built for combat because there's nothing to slow it down: no power steering, no A/C, and no power brakes. You know the original owner didn't do that because he was cheap. The 4-speed manual is part of that equation and it's linked to a stout 8.75-inch rear end with a set of street-friendly gears inside; you don't need a lot of gear to get a car rolling when you have a 440 powering it. There's a recent Flowmaster exhaust system, the floors are shockingly clean, and after living a life in a warm climate, there's none of the issues you'll find on cars from up north. And there's simply no better rolling stock on a brute-force muscle car than painted steelies with poverty caps and blackwall tires, with those on this car measuring 205/65/15 Bridgestone radials. This Belvedere is pure industrial strength Mopar muscle and it has the power to back up its brutal look. And as it was when it was new, it's probably the most horsepower per dollar available anywhere. The bright red paint is sure to get you noticed, and once everyone spots this car, they'll be digging the cool black graphics that were expertly laid down on top. Neatly framing the cool Plymouth's curves, it gives the car a more updated vibe that'll look good for years to come. A lot of the trim was shaved, but quite a bit remains, so it retains its Plymouth identity and has great functionality, starting with real door handles instead of problematic door solenoids. The finish is nicely done and while it's showing its age a bit, a professional buff would really wake it back up and give you a high-quality look for not a lot of cash. The original grille is there in spirit, with stainless stripes highlighting the pointed nose, and without bumpers, it takes on a very sleek, clean look. In back there are traditional pinstripes, a frenched license plate frame, and a pair of '39 Ford teardrop taillights, which are always the right choice on a vintage rod of any kind. The two-tone black and red theme continues inside, where the original seats have been covered in fresh seat covers that work well with the exterior paint. The upholstery is in great shape showing only minor wear and the pleated door panels are a great hot rod look that's been popular for decades. The interesting woodgrained window surrounds and dashboard are similar to what many automakers used in the '40s, and the gauges appear to be original and fully functional, joined by a modern temperature gauge under the dash. There's an AM/FM/CD stereo neatly installed under the dash so the original chrome-laden center stack can still be the star of the show inside. The back seat offers plenty of stretch-out room for passengers, making this a very practical rod that still looks great. There's also a fairly sizeable trunk under that fastback profile, which is fully upholstered and includes a custom enclosure for the battery. For motivation, this Mopar turns to good old Chevy power, in this case a 350 cubic inch V8. It's a neat fit in the Plymouth's engine bay and with things like a 4-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust, and a high-rise intake manifold, it's a very strong runner. A few chrome pieces dress things up a bit and the bright red paint extends under the hood onto things like the power brake booster. This car also offers power steering so it's easy to drive and the dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers sounds aggressive without getting tiresome on the highway. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission spins what might be the car's original rear end, so it's plenty peppy around town. The underside isn't detailed for show, but you already know this car was built to drive, not to ride around in a trailer. It has just the right stance and sits on a set of polished wheels and 235/60/15 Goodyear radials all around. Dare to be a little different with this clean little Plymouth. Great looks, lots of performance, and a few unique touches will make it stand out anywhere. Long, low, and sleek, you can see where the Prowler gets its handsome good looks, and with a gorgeous tan interior and a rumbling small block V8 it's more than just a unique look. Both the body and chassis are from Custom 33 in Indiana, and they seem to have found the sweet spot for unique rods. The full-fendered look and lowered belt line give this sweet roadster a very sporting look that's a little bit old school and a little bit 21st century slick. It's fiberglass, of course, but that also means that fit and finish are exemplary, with a solid feeling going down the road. The raked-back grille and high-perched headlights are definitely a welcome change over the usual stuff and you can see a bit of Prowler influence (or is it vice-versa) in the dovetailed rear fenders. The open hood sides are as much styling element as functional upgrade and with a fixed windshield, it has a more substantial look than most roadsters. The sizzling red paint is beautifully applied with almost no signs of use and while there isn't much chrome, the bright stuff that is on the car, including the grille and headlights, is like new. You may have noticed that the Plymouth body is a bit longer than the usual Ford or Chevy, and that pays big dividends inside, where there's plenty of room for two folks with long legs. The nicely stitched vinyl upholstery does a fairly good impersonation of leather and the pleated pattern is repeated on the door panels for a cohesive look. Tan carpets help insulate passengers from noise and heat and a custom center console brings a bit of the red exterior inside the car. Cool Dolphin white-faced gauges are a little bit retro and a little bit modern, which is the perfect choice in this '33 Plymouth. There's also a billet steering wheel on a tilt column to help you get comfortable and that custom center console also houses speakers for the AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the center of the dash. The trunk is outfitted to match and uses the same materials for a consistent, high-quality look. A 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 provides the power, and the color-matched powerplant looks great peeking out from under the one-piece hood. Finned valve covers and air cleaner add an old-school look, while a Holley carburetor and block-hugger headers help build some horsepower. Polished aluminum is the dominant theme, but it isn't over-done, so you can drive it or show it without worries. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission feeds a 9-inch Ford rear end, so the rest of the powertrain is plenty tough for the rigors of a cross-country cruise. Even better, the custom coil-over suspension rides rather well and handles great thanks to a rack-and-pinion steering system and a 4-link setup out back. Four-wheel disc brakes should be standard equipment on anything that can go this fast, and it definitely has the right soundtrack with a pair of Flowmasters making the music. Gorgeous oversized Torque Thrust-looking wheels give it just a bit of rake and carry low-profile performance radials for a modern look. Stand out from the crowd with this awesome little Plymouth and you'll probably find that you're not alone in thinking that different is definitely better. Extensively restored and still true to its original mission of affordable performance, this is a high-visibility Plymouth that will always attract attention. Wearing fuselage styling that debuted in 1971, the Road Runner took on a more look that seems more aggressive and modern when compared to its earlier siblings. And Mopar was still in the performance business, selling the car complete with a racy hood with faux intake nostrils, a full stripe package, and details like hood pins and sport mirrors. Painting it Hemi Orange emphasizes the car's muscular curves and the workmanship is very good in every way, having been repainted only five years ago. Great gaps, a wonderful gloss, and correct decals, including the requisite Road Runner on the deck lid all add up to making this one fantastic-looking piece of Plymouth history. Those quarter panels are massive and have complex curves, so getting them straight can be tricky, but fortunately this car never needed major surgery so it was relatively easy to achieve such great results. It does have a few blemishes, which is to be expected from a car that's been driven, but nothing that detracts from the high-impact look. There's also quite a bit of chrome, most notably the big front and rear bumpers, and it all looks fantastic today. The interior will be familiar to anyone who loves Mopar performance cars, with high-back buckets, a center console that angles towards the driver, and a bit of faux wood to warm things up a bit. The pleated buckets have a high-class look that belied the car's price in 1972, and today offers a cool retro look at what was cool 40 years ago. The steering wheel is a skinny 3-spoke piece with wonderful patina and the gauges appear to be very nice originals with clear lenses and sharp markings. The door panels also appear to be nicely preserved originals and the center console will make former Road Runner owners feel right at home, particularly with the T-handle shifter, all of which was added by a previous owner. An AM radio remains in the dash, and heavy-duty carpeted floor mats protect the floor. And in the trunk you'll find an original-style mat and tidy floors covered in proper spatter paint. Great news for fans of authenticity awaits under the hood, where you'll find a correct 340 cubic inch V8. Still a ton of fun even though the Feds were doing all they could to quash performance, it fires with a seductive rumble from the dual exhaust and idles smoothly. The engine bay is neatly finished with a lot of dress-up, including the finned air cleaner lid and valve covers, as well as a polished alternator. Horsepower upgrades include an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and matching high-rise intake manifold, as well as a set of long-tube headers feeding a throaty dual exhaust system. It's backed by the aforementioned TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic and a set of highway-friendly gears, all packed inside a rear end that hangs on leaf springs, traction bars, and air shocks to fine-tune the launch. Handsome 5-spoke Weld Pro-Star wheels have an old-school hot rod look and spin 215/70/15 front and 295/50/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials. The Road Runner is a sure bet for future collectability, and remains an awesome, fun car today. In addition, it's reasonably priced, gorgeous to look at, and with that strong-running 340, it's still a threat on the street. Nicely restored and a neat piece of Indy history, this ragtop offers more than you'd expect. Pace cars are popular collector pieces because they are tied directly to a specific event, and this one makes good use of its long body and bright white paint to show off a complete decal set. The restoration stuck to the factory recipe, using the right colors to make it true to form. Workmanship is quite good, about what you'd get if you bought it new, and the white finish has a great shine that's easy to maintain. Everything fits together well, and with that long body and the stainless trim that reaches from end to end, there's really no place for shoddy work to hide on this car. The decals were reproduced exactly and professionally installed, so they fit right and look great with no peeling or checking, and compared to some of the later pace cars, this one is a model of restraint and good taste. Optional fender skirts make it look even longer than it is, and freshly re-plated bumpers sparkle against the bright white paint while highlighting the quality of the other work. A two-tone blue interior was part of the pace car package, and this excellent restoration carries a full Legendary interior that accurately reproduces the factory upholstery. Bucket seats and a console add to the sporty nature of the pace car, which is what you'd expect, but it has a luxurious feel that shouldn't be overlooked, either. The Plymouth's instrument panel is reminiscent of the early-60s Imperials, with a massive central speedometer and auxiliary gauges and controls below, plus a clock on the center console. It's all very nicely done, and you'll find it easy to spend time here, whether in a parade, at a show, our just out for a cruise. A new blue power top with a crystal clear rear window has been recently installed and it comes with a matching blue boot for sunny days. The trunk is downright gigantic, with a correct plaid mat. For powering around the track, the official pace car probably had some serious blasting powder under the hood, and the street versions do just fine with their big block 383 cubic inch V8s. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor, it makes the kind of effortless power that makes you lean on the pedal just a little harder to feel that seemingly endless rush of torque. Chrysler Turquoise paint, a factory air cleaner, and an original radiator keep the engine bay looking stock, and it looks crisply rendered against the white inner fenders. A great-sounding Flowmaster dual exhaust system surely sounds better than the original pipes, and the 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic snaps to attention when you crack the throttle. The undercarriage is remarkably sanitary with lots of new equipment, including a fresh gas tank and recent shocks. Pretty Magnum 500 wheels with trick blue-line tires add just the right '60s flair to this awesome ragtop. Being historically accurate doesn't mean you can't still have fun, and with big block power, this Fury definitely delivers. The results were cars like the Viper, the Ford GT, and perhaps the most wild real-world dream car ever built, the Plymouth Prowler. This 2000 Prowler is one of those rare cars that's actually been driven and enjoyed instead of sitting as static art for 15 years, which means you can get in and start having fun right away! This is one of only 151 Woodward Edition Prowlers, which were finished in black over red with a black leather interior. Today, it seems to be channeling the great hot rods of the past with its rakish looks and dramatically staggered rolling stock. If you're a real car guy, I don't have to tell you about the Prowler's influences or the homage that it represents. Instead, think about what it represents to Chrysler Corporation. Its real name was the Prowler AIV, which meant Aluminum Intensive Vehicle, and they used this low-production specialty car to learn about how to build aluminum components that are still in use today. The fact that it also looks cool was simply a nice side effect. It's been driven, so there are signs of use throughout, but none of it is major and for a Prowler, I think a few battle scars are a mark of distinction rather than a demerit. If you want a perfect one, they're out there for a lot more money and you'll spend another big pile making a laid-up car roadworthy again, but this one is always ready to part. It's completely stock, of course, and someone has spent plenty of time keeping it clean, waxed, and maintained along the way. Black leather has a great look in the Prowler, recalling the heavy-duty hides used on vintage rods and even motorcycles. Of course, everything was standard in Plymouth's flagship, from A/C and power windows to keyless entry and a massive sound system that fills the cabin with sound, top up or top down. Retro styling cues include the column-mounted tach and center-mounted instrument panel that has a color-matched bezel that was especially dramatic on brightly colored Prowlers like this. The idea is that this is an OEM hot rod with everything fully engineered and fully functional, and it just works. Airbags, seatbelts, and all the bells and whistles truly make the Prowler a no-compromises hot rod. There's even a snug-fitting convertible top with glass rear window and defroster that stashes below the rear deck for a truly sleek look. With those giant rear tires, there's not a lot of trunk space but does it really matter when the car looks this good? Chrysler's corporate 3.5 liter 24-valve V6 with 253 horsepower is a snug fit in the pointed engine bay, but given the car's lightweight structure, it delivers entertaining performance. Packed in there are all the bells and whistles plus fuel injection and distributorless ignition, so it always stars and runs, and fuel economy is impressive if you stay out of the loud pedal. The 4-speed automatic transmission was the first installation of Chrysler's "Auto Stick" setup, which allows manual shifting on the fly, and the all-independent suspension soaks up bumps better than any buggy spring setup ever could. Four-wheel discs with ABS are confidence-inspiring. Factory alloys wear 225/45/17 front and 295/40/20 rear tires for a dramatic big-n-little look that's totally traditional. A very cool car that has become an icon in its own time, the Prowler is a great tribute to the past and perhaps even a smart investment for the future. Designed to combat the Mustang Boss 302 and Camaro Z/28 it emphasizes high-winding small block power and razor-sharp handling over brute force, and it totally works. This numbers-matching AAR 'Cuda benefits from an extremely high-quality restoration, which is only appropriate as it's among the most highly prized pieces of Mopar muscle. Refinished in its original Lemon Twist yellow, it's a high-impact E-body that looks like none of its other siblings. The blacked-out hood features a bespoke scoop and the strobe stripes along its flanks terminate in the AAR logo of Dan Gurney's All American Racers, from which the car draws its name. You'll also note side exhaust peeking out from under the car just ahead of the rear wheels, a critical part of the AAR 'Cuda look. This one also features a rear spoiler and a set of driving lights up front, completing the highly aggressive look. It was repainted just a few months ago by noted pro Darrell Wilson and the paint is absolutely show-quality in every possible way. Awesome gaps, super smooth sheetmetal, and crisp decals make it look showroom fresh. Actually, no 1970 Chrysler product ever looked this good and this one is truly remarkable. The interior was restored to the same exacting standards. New upholstery on the high-back buckets, a center console, and a full complement of Rallye gauges, including a tach, make this an awesome place to do some serious driving. It isn't flashy, although the woodgrained wheel adds an upscale flair, and unlike its Ford and Chevy competition, the AAR could be had with an automatic transmission, as is the case with this one. There's also an AM radio in the dash, but precious little else to slow it down, and the effect is clean and well-honed, an ideal weapon for combat on the streets. It's Spartan, yes, but the quality of the materials and workmanship ensures that it'll be a joy to drive and if you like collecting trophies, this car will probably do it for you pretty easily. Even the trunk is expertly finished using a reproduction mat and a proper space-saver spare with jack assembly. The AAR's powerplant was a 340 cubic inch V8 with Six-Pack induction, and this is indeed the car's original, numbers-matching engine. It's fully rebuilt and freshly detailed for show, including proper decals on the massive oval air cleaner, reproduction hoses and clamps, and even a yellow-cap battery. It's extremely fresh and crisply rendered, making it a shoo-in for competition and it even runs superbly, something you don't often get with show-caliber cars. It was rebuilt by legendary engine builder Matt Bishop, so you know there's a lot of talent behind it. The 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic is also rebuilt and while it's not numbers-matching, it is date-code correct and the heavy-duty 8.75-inch rear end was standard equipment. The underside is completely show quality thanks to a rotisserie restoration, and the floors offer just the right amount of overspray, proper finishes on the hardware, and just about everything you can touch is new. Restored Rallye wheels look great and carry reproduction E60-15 front and G60-15 rear Goodyear Polyglas tires, making the AAR 'Cuda the first production car to carry staggered tires. Documented with goodies like the original fender tag that says simply, "TRANS AM" plus an original owner's manual, this is one of the finest AAR 'Cudas in the country. This particular 1971 Plymouth Valiant Scamp, however, isn't some smog-strangled stocker, but a warmed-over hot rod that speaks relatively softly and carries a big stick. The color is exactly right for a car like this, not too flashy and subtle enough not to be noticed. It ideally captures the spirit of the times and stands out today for those of us who like a bit of nostalgia with our old cars. And while the Valiant was technically an economy car, this one has had a bunch of time spent getting it into shape, both externally and under the hood. For a '71 Valiant, this one must have been pretty clean to begin with, which is a rare thing all on its own. It was repainted just last year and the finish has a deep shine that shows well, and it wasn't over-restored to perfection, but rather cleaned up and sprayed to give it a no-worries look that's appealing. The doors fit well, the quarters are smooth, and there's a gold undertone to the paint that only comes out when the light is just right. The chrome and trim is probably original and looking its age, with some light pitting on the bumpers, but again, as a low-dollar machine, this one has a lot going for it. The basic theme continues inside with a new black bench seat interior, complete with new carpets and door panels. Sure, the carpets might be a little more plush than original, but nobody complains about an upgrade, and even as a value-priced entry, this Valiant comes complete with a full array of informative gauges from the factory. The woodgrained applique on the instrument panel is a bit scuffed and scratched, but other than that the interior is in very good condition and we've always liked Chrysler's 3-spoke steering wheel, with this one wearing a leather wrap. There is no radio but that only means it's ready for the head unit of your choice and the rest is street-racer basic: crank windows, column shifter, and only a heater and defroster. The trunk is surprisingly large for a compact car like this, and carries a brand new mat. Going fast on a budget was its motto then, and it still holds true today, offering a ton of bang for the buck. A 318 cubic inch V8 is a welcome sight under the Valiant's hood, and this isn't some stock wheezer. Upgraded with a big Holley 4-barrel and aluminum intake, a big cam inside, and a set of factory HP exhaust manifolds, it's got a big hit of torque at any speed. Supporting equipment includes a big radiator, a fresh battery, and a fresh dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers polished oval tips peeking out under the rear bumper. A few chrome dress-up parts make it look suitably sporty and the painted engine bay shows that the car was comprehensively disassembled for paint. It still carries a 3-speed automatic with a fresh torque converter, as well as the original rear end, and there's also a new gas tank hanging out back, front disc brakes, and air shocks in back. 14-inch Rallye wheels offer a classic performance look and wear fat 245/60/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials. This neat little car is the perfect sleeper with V8 power in an unassuming package. This California-bred 'Beeper has been restored as needed over the past four decades, making it a car you can drive without worries and still get the flavor of the original. That vivid Plum Crazy Purple paint is only a few months old and they not only captured just the right hue, but it has a soft gloss like the original enamel, so it looks very authentic. Obviously this was a very straight, clean car before the paint job and aside from a few very minor signs of use, it looks great in person. A correct set of black vinyl decals were added to give it the right muscle car look and they match the Go-Wing out back, which is practically mandatory on these cars. Proper Road Runner decals were also installed on the deck lid and there's a set of '383' emblems on the front fenders to match those on the hood, just in case anyone wasn't paying attention. The bumpers are original and their condition should tell you all you need to know about the easy life this car has led. If you like these cars, you need to spend some time with this one. The interior is in great shape, including the seats, dashboard, and door panels, and again, it speaks to the quality and preservation of the car. Given the extroverted bodywork, the gray and black interior is more subtle, but still has a racy vibe. There are a few signs of use, of course, as this car was built to be driven, although the carpets were done within the last year and fit well. The factory gauges should look familiar to anyone who has driven a vintage Mopar and they're joined by a set of auxiliary gauges under the dash in the usual location, along with a tachometer. A pistol-grip shifter is one of the best features of any manual-transmission Chrysler product of the era and is linked to a slick-shifting 4-speed manual transmission. The original AM radio is still in the dash, although it has finally given up the ghost and an upgrade would probably be a welcome addition. The trunk is also correctly finished with a brand new spare and jack assembly with mat. With 383 cubic inches on tap, this car is a blast to drive around town. Effortless torque and a fantastic sound mean that you'll be grabbing a downshift every chance you get. It's also quite nicely detailed under the hood, with Hemi Orange on the block, wrinkle-finish paint on the air cleaner, and reproduction decals throughout. The distinctive exhaust manifolds are in good condition and feed a new dual exhaust system that's not too loud and not too soft, so it's a pleasure to drive on the highway. There's a 650 CFM Holley double-pumper up top, along with all new belts, hoses, wires, a fresh starter, and a correct radiator up front. The car's California roots show underneath, where it's in great condition with no major issues and it's got exactly the right stance on those Rallye wheels with 235/60/15 white-letter radials. If you're into driving and turning heads, this Road Runner delivers big block fun at a reasonable price. This 1965 Plymouth Satellite is a pretty unassuming car, a cool hardtop in awesome '60s colors, but you'd never think that there was a predator lurking within. Not quite a pure sleeper, but it's a subtle factory hot rod that hits all the right notes with a 440 cubic inch big block and a 4-speed waiting inside. Chrysler marketers weren't that talented in the paint naming department, but the KK1 "Medium Turquoise" paint on this car is indeed its original color and it really works well. It's bright, clean, and unassuming, perfect for a car with serious blasting powder under the hood. The sleek lines of the '65 Satellite mean that you really need to nail the bodywork, and with straight panels and crisp details like that slashing character line down the sides, the guys who painted this one really got it right. There are definitely some signs of age and use, but the basics are excellent, and the overall patina helps with the low-key demeanor of this sleepy-looking hardtop. You already know that we love the cantilevered hardtops that Chrysler was turning out during this period, which gives the car an industrial-strength look that's both attractive and a little bit intimidating. The Satellite wasn't big on flash, but the chrome bumpers, bright stainless, and nicely finished tail panel all contribute to its clean overall look. The matching turquoise interior is every bit as stylish, perhaps even more-so, than the bodywork, and it defines the minimalist style that Mopar delivered. It's clean and uncluttered, but the patterns on the seats make it look upscale and the dashboards on these cars have always been somewhat remarkable in their design. A set of auxiliary gauges have been installed under the dash in the usual location, and the only real demerit inside are some holes on top of the dash, presumably where auxiliary gauges used to live. You also get tinted glass, which was still a rare option in 1965 and yes, that's a 4-speed manual there on the transmission tunnel, so you know this sucker was built for combat. The only other major option is a factory AM radio, but the engine sounds so good you won't even miss your favorite station. The trunk is massive and includes a new mat and a full-sized spare with matching redline radial. The big 440 cubic inch V8 is a neat fit in the Satellite's engine bay and it's so clean and tidy that you can see where all the money was spent. Mopar Performance dress-up parts work well with the bright aluminum Edelbrock intake, custom braided stainless fuel lines for the Holley double-pumper, and Hemi Orange paint on the block, so it looks fast before you even turn the key. You know it was built for speed because it has neither power steering nor power brakes, but you'll probably find they're not really necessary and the car is easy to drive just about anywhere. Trick headers feed a brand new exhaust system, and as long as you're under there, be sure to check out the new gas tank as well. It's not detailed for show, but it doesn't have any glaring problems and in a car that you'll want to drive, having a spotless undercarriage isn't really an advantage anyway. Classic Magnum 500 wheels with fresh BFGoodrich redline radials complete the period performance look. A neat car that only gets better the more you look at it, this industrial strength Plymouth offers a lot of performance at an attractive price.
