This is a rare first generation 1972 Mercedes Benz 350SL, Euro spec. The Euro spec high compression engine develops the same power at lighter engine weight. This model is the true 3.5l V8 that came with a higher compression engine. I've owned this car for three years and bought it from the original owner. I performed restoration work beginning with an full front end rebuild by respected MB shop Rheinland Motors, with recent new muffler and new fuel pump completed in Los Angeles. This car includes both tops. There is no A/C and the car has roll-up windows. Correct MB tex interior is in excellent condition and done approximately 5 years ago. There is a dime sized rust bubble on the top. The passenger side door exterior handle does not lock from the outside and may need replacement. Come by for a test drive or for your mechanic. Please arrange for a test drive before bidding. All due diligence needs to be done prior to your bid. Deposits are non-refundable. Sales are final. The Mercedes-Benz SL name has always signified a certain level of automotive style and sophistication, and each new generation seems both to define and be defined by its era. Such was the case when the R107 model SL came on the scene in 1972 as a replacement for the popular 230/250/280SL W113 series. The family of models existed with minimal changes until 1989, a remarkable production run for a luxury convertible. With the R107, Mercedes debuted a V-8 engine in the convertible lineup, which was necessary given the new SL’s relative girthy 3,400-pound weight. Styling was typically conservative and somewhat reminiscent of the pagoda top cars, and despite dimensions more or less the same, the R107 appeared to be much larger. The 3.5l fuel-injected V-8 featured an overhead cam and delivered 230 horsepower. It was paired with a three-speed automatic, with no manual transmission on offer. All gauges, lights, indicators, wipers, heater fan, dash instruments and even the cigarette lighter works. Radio does not work, but the power antenna does. Has A/C, but it needs to be recharged. Transmission, exhaust, brakes, and tires are all good. Fuel distributor and injectors were just replaced this year and the engine is starting and running well. Clean Title, no liens. This model SL was not sold in the US and it has salvage title because it was imported and converted. Bought it from the original owner 10 years ago, so it is a 2 owner car. It was never driven in the Winter and the body is solid. No rust. Car has MN plates, but has been in So. Calf last 15+ years. Some cracking on dash (see pic.) It has a new soft top,and it comes with the original hard top too. The paint on the hard top is good, but it will need a new headliner. Comes with original owner's manual in German.
