Mercedes Benz SL Roadster The classic (R129) roadster was considered a technological wonder when first introduced. This 1992 model is the 300SL with the powerful & efficient 3.0L, 24-valve I-6 coupled to a 5-speed automatic. As you see in the photos, it has been meticulously restored to like-new condition. This car is a head-turner that’s fun to drive. Over $33,000 in parts & labor has been invested (not including the vehicle cost or 1-1/2 years of my personal labor). The mechanical work was performed by a Mercedes Benz Master Mechanic. All receipts are available for review. The restoration was photo documented and available for review to serious buyers. The mileage stated is since the completion of the restoration. Here’s a partial list of the work performed: Interior: - New high quality seat leather. - All non-leather interior panels and the dash have been dyed to like-new condition. - The headliners for both the soft-top and hard-top are new. - All knobs & switches with any signs of wear were replaced. - A MB (2)-cup drink holder was installed in the center console to replace the cassette tape storage. - The instrument cluster was sent-out & refurbished (including the tripmeter gears and stator motor). - A complete high quality Alpine stereo system was installed that includes an amplifier, 6.5” door speakers and a 10” subwoofer (amazing sound). - A new high security Viper alarm system has been installed. The original infrared system is still intact, but has been disabled. Exterior: - New high quality soft-top. - All (12) top cylinders, top locks and the hydraulic distribution block were sent out and rebuilt (they now include long-lasting Teflon seals. - New windshield. - New front headlight assemblies. - New front turn signal assemblies. - New front spoiler fog light assemblies. - New rear taillights assemblies (changed to the more appealing 1999 model year design). - New 3rd brake light lens. - New AMG-style 5-spoke chrome wheels. - New Bridgestone symmetrical tires. - PPG’s highest quality basecoat & clearcoat has been applied and hand polished to a mirror finish. Drivetrain: - The cylinder head was removed for inspection and the original factory cross-hatch honing pattern was still visible in all cylinders. - The cylinder head was tested and showed less than 10% wear, but a complete 24-valve job was performed while disassembled. - The throttle body was cleaned and re-calibrated. - All new electronic fuel injectors. - New radiator. - New water pump.- New cam position sensor.- New water temperature sensor.- New oil pressure sensor. - Both fuel pumps are new. - New ignition coil. - New spark plugs and wires. - New rotor and distributor cap. - New K&N air filter. - New catalytic converter. - All new belts, hoses and rubber fittings. - The cruise control system was sent out and rebuilt. - The air conditioning system has been serviced and tested. - The transmission has been completely serviced and tested. - The brake system has been completely serviced and tested. - All new brake rotors - New performance ceramic brake pads. - New driveline couplers. - All new wheel bearings. - Complete differential rebuild, including new rear axle shafts, bearings, spider gears and seals. - New front and rear control arm & ball joint assemblies.- New (8 piece) control arm kit. - New high quality rear shocks. - New high quality front struts. - New sway bar bushings.
