There is a little scuffing above the wheel well on one of the back tires. I have a friend that can fix the paint for $300 extra if this is a make or break for you. This Is a beautiful american muscle car that has had a few modifications for performance. I put a tune on the car and a few other mods that have increased the performance of the car but I can also put the car back to manufacture standards if desired. Putting traditional high performance within reach of almost everyone with a checkbook, it shouldn't be a surprise that Ford built millions of them. However, for those same reasons, finding one that hasn't been abused, raced, cut up, modified, and thrashed to within an inch of its life is definitely a challenge 20 years later. Fortunately, we were able to round up this gorgeous 1992 Mustang GT convertible in a stunning red-over-white color combination. Aside from a set of ubiquitous high-flow mufflers, it is completely stock, and with just about 34,000 original miles, it has never been used as a daily driver. The original red paint has survived the intervening years quite well, showing a nice gloss and surprisingly little orange peel, given how the factory was applying paint back then. The urethane ground effects that give the GT its unique look are in excellent condition, and both doors fit well because the body hasn't been torqued by big horsepower and sticky tires at the strip. There are a few touch-ups here and there, as you'd expect, but the overall state of preservation is pretty impressive considering the lives most of this car's siblings must have led. All the black rubber parts that usually turn gray with age and UV damage are supple and dark, including the window sills and inserts on the trunk-mounted luggage rack, which was Ford's way of disguising the CHMSL on the ragtop Mustangs. And, of course, the "cheese grater" taillights are in excellent condition, the headlights haven't turned cloudy, and, well, someone clearly loved this Mustang. The white leather interior is inviting and functional, with supportive buckets that were some of the best on the market in 1992. The dash is simple, with great high-visibility gauges, fingertip controls for headlights, and big rotary knobs for the A/C system. The combination of white leather seats, two-tone door panels, and red carpets and dash works really well, giving the Mustang a kind of upscale look inside, and there's virtually zero wear, even on the high-traffic side bolsters. Heck, even the center armrest and ashtray door are intact, two plastic items that rarely survive the years. This GT came loaded with just about every option, including A/C, power windows, mirrors, and locks, cruise control, interval wipers, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo which still sounds decent. A white power top offers a glass rear window and folds itself in seconds with the touch of a button. In the trunk you'll find an optional cargo net as well as a CD changer that is the lone interior upgrade. The 5.0 liter EFI V8 under the hood is the reason the Mustang was the pony car of choice for an entire generation. Great sound, bulletproof performance, impressive torque, and an aftermarket that could transform it into anything your wallet could afford. This one is completely stock, and hasn't been raced or abused, and wears only the aforementioned mufflers, probably for sound as much as anything else. There are signs of recent maintenance under the hood and with a quick-shifting AOD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, this Mustang is a blast in cut-and-thrust traffic. Super clean underneath, this is the kind of Mustang we all long to find and which is becoming increasingly scarce today, and it shows zero evidence of ever being in the snow. Even the original 16-inch "Pony" wheels are virtually unmarked, sporting correct 225/55/16 Goodyear Eagle radials. These are the collector cars of tomorrow and finding a Fox-body 5.0 that hasn't been thrashed is going to be tough. Overall in very good condition mechanically and body. I purchased the car in January of this year on a trade and have put a lot of work in it to get it up to speed and reliable. Interior: Front passenger side and Rear driver side windows go up and down slower than the other 2, but work fine Drivetrain: The ball joint boots are torn, so I would replace those in the future. Also could use new sway bar bushings/spring isolators up front. I have the parts but they aren't installed yet. Car drives fine, just a little noise over bumps which is typical for most mustangs around this time. The front end bushings appear to be all the original ones from the factory. Front tires should be replace as they vibrate a little at highway speeds along with the front brakes as the rotors are slightly warped which shows when stopping. I wouldn't bet against them, particularly when cars like this 1989 Saleen Mustang convertible remain eminently affordable. Prices can only keep going up from here, right? Saleen was always quick to point out that they were not a mere "tuner" but rather a small-volume manufacturer, and in terms of collectability, that makes a world of difference. It means that this heavily documented, supercharged Saleen (#129, by the way) has a Saleen VIN and serial number, ensuring its exclusivity. And while Saleen would sell their parts to the average Mustang owner, having one with that all-important serial number ahead of the driver's headlight means the world to enthusiasts. With just 22,098 original miles, this is perhaps the finest Saleen we've featured and it shows a lifetime of expert and careful maintenance. The Saleen body kit is stylish yet restrained, save for the massive rear wing which was the car's most distinctive feature. The white paint is in excellent condition overall, and you can't even tell where the Saleen parts were added and the factory paint ends, which is a testament to the care with which these cars were built (they were roughly twice as expensive as standard Mustangs). The distinctive Saleen graphics package highlights the rockers and it still carries its Ford-applied pinstripe along the flanks, too. All of it remains in first-class shape, making this an excellent choice for future appreciation. Befitting the $30,639 sticker price, the interior got a comprehensive makeover at the Saleen facility in Irvine, CA, before it was shipped to a Ford dealer right down the road from our ATL showroom. Special Recaro buckets were wrapped in gray fabric that's as grippy as Velcro, then piped in red for some contrast. The original rear seat was finished to match, as were the door panels. Other Saleen touches include a MOMO steering wheel, 170 MPH speedometer (the original went to 85, which was pretty lame), an upgraded Pioneer stereo system designed to Saleen's specifications, and a special shifter. All the other Ford options were standard, too, including A/C, power windows and locks, power mirrors, and a power folding top that stows under a matching gray boot. The 2-point roll hoop was an option that very few convertible owners selected but it definitely helps reinforce the chassis. As you'd expect, everything is in first-rate condition and fully functional save for the heater, which is typical of low-mileage Fox-body Mustangs. Even the trunk looks completely unused! A glance at the original window sticker is proof that this Saleen was supercharged from the start, making it one of only a handful so equipped (priced a supercharged 1966 GT350 lately?). The Paxton blower is quiet and unobtrusive, force-feeding the 5.0 liter V8 to the tune of more than 300 horsepower, heady numbers in 1989. It also enjoys the benefit of a GT40 tubular intake, which is ideally suited to boosted applications. Saleen included a special engine calibration as part of their upgrades, yet the car is docile enough to be a daily driver. The suspension is heavily massaged, using Saleen Racecraft springs, shocks, and sway bars, along with special bushings, 4-wheel disc brakes, and chassis reinforcements that make a huge difference in the way the car feels. Drive this back-to-back with any other Fox Mustang and they don't even feel like the same kind of car. And all of it is in excellent shape, indicative of the low mileage and expert care. Even the gorgeous color-matched ARE wheels are unmarked and now carry BFGoodrich radials. Documented with the original dealer invoice, bill of sale, 2-owner clean Carfax, and owner's manual, plus all the Ford papers, this incredible Saleen Mustang is a very rare find.
