1996 Collector Edition Corvette LT1 automatic with 19,285 original miles. This corvette has been well maintained and pampered. There was only 2,491 collector edition LT1 coupe produced in 1996. 1,046 had black interior, 1,210 had light gray interior and only 235 had the Torch Red Interior which is the rarest color combination produced in 1996. This time capsule was #699 out of #21,536 corvette that rolled out of Bowling Green Kentucky in 1996. Everything works in the corvette as it should. The A/C blows ice cold and the radio antenna and head lights go up and down without a hiccup. The transmission shifts smoothly and the car stops on a dime. I've owned this car for a little over 2 yrs. When I took possession of this car and drove it home the odometer turned to 19,000 miles. In a little over 2 yrs I've only driven 285 miles. This car has only been driven occasionally to take the wife to dinner. The car has only been dry washed and waxed. The original paint has a really nice shine to it. It's obvious by the condition of this corvette that the previous owners before me also pampered and never abused this car. Since I've owned this car it's always slept in my climate controlled garage and hasn't been exposed to the TEXAS sun. This corvette comes with the original collector edition chrome sill plate protectors, which is rarely seen on these cars. The only item that's not original to this car are the wheels. One of the previous owners decided to replace the original wheels with Corvette chrome wheels. I must admit although I would have preferred the original wheels the chrome Corvette wheels look awesome and really give this corvette a sleek look. The weather stripping on this car is original and is starting to show signs of wear. The original glass targa roof panel is intact but the factory tint is starting to show signs of peeling. The car just recently started a dime size oil leak. I attribute this to the car being parked and rarely driven. The car has 2 small scuff marks on the front passenger side by the front license plate that can barely be seen (see picture). I've listed this car as honestly as I can and have included everything that i would like to know about this corvette as if I was going to buy it again. However, that being said I am not a mechanic and I would encourage any potential new owner to get this car inspected prior to bidding / buying. I can honestly say that I haven't had any trouble with this car and the only reason that I'm selling is because I don't have enough time to enjoy this car as it was intended to be used. I have included a picture of the free and clear Texas title which is in my name just to rule out any doubts about the legitimacy of this auction.
