The legend of powerful 427 convertibles in the mid sixties was reignited as Chevrolet unveiled the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible for the last year of the sixth generation and the only modern 427 convertible offered. The 427 embodies a myriad of features and technologies found within the sixth generation Corvette family including carbon fiber and the handcrafted LS7 small block, derived from the American Le Mans winning Corvette race program. Magnetic Selective Ride Control was introduced in 2003 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Corvette and comes standard on the 427. Other standard technologies include launch control, active handling, traction control, cross-drilled brake rotors with six piston calipers and dual mode exhaust system. It’s iconic American supercar performance with the exhilaration of a convertible. The 427 C.I.D (7.0-liter) V8 more commonly referred as the LS7, has until now only been available in the Corvette Z06 coupe. It loses no power for its installation in the 427 convertible, meaning it'll offer 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is the only available gearbox, and the driveline and rear axle are borrowed from the Z06, too. Many of the features that are either standard or available as options on the Z06 will be included on all 427 convertibles: Magnetic Ride Control, a trunk-mounted battery, special wheels (19-inchers up front, 20s in the rear), and Michelin PS2 tires. Carbon fiber is employed throughout the 427 convertible, including for the hood, fenders, and floor panels. As a result, Chevy says the Corvette 427 convertible weighs in at 3355 pounds, just 156 pounds more than a Z06 coupe. This gorgeous Vette is wrapped in a Torch Red coat with a Black leather interior with a Black convertible top. So new, this Corvette is still covered under the factory warranty plus extended warranties with only one owner and 4,464 actual miles driven since brand new in 2013. Equipped with the 1SC and 427 heritage package this beauty is ready to be driven and look great sporting a ZR1 style rear spoiler. The options on this Corvette 427 include: A/C, aluminum wheels, am/fm radio, automatic convertible top, anti-lock brakes, anti-theft system, CD player, cruise control, driver/passenger airbag, GPS, leather interior, performance tires, power locks, power seats, power brakes, power steering, power windows, seatbelts, radial tires, rear defogger, ride control, tilt wheel, HUD, traction control and a numbers matching powertrain. I had the 1st oil change around 4400 miles. They were also supposed to do the state inspection, but forgot. For some reason the dealer reset the computer when they changed the oil so I brought it to an inspection center close to my house and they said that I need to put at least 60 miles on the car after the computer reset before it will pass inspection. I haven't put that many miles on it yet, so the emissions inspection report may show "failed".
