Here it is, just in time for Summer! For sale at Buy it Now or Best Offer is a very special 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Spyder. This is an extremely low mileage example of Mitsubishi’s mid-90’s supercar that should be well known to anyone who has searched this listing. For 3000GT VR4 cogniscenti, all that needs be said is that this vehicle is virtually as-new and un-modified, it is always garaged and covered, and there are no cosmetic or mechanical defects, no damage or failed component history and everything works correctly. The car is regularly serviced with oil changes, with new Kumho Ecsta Supra 245/45 VR17 tires, a new battery, plus it has had the full 15k service including cam belts. If you are not familiar with this Mitsubishi, here are a few details: It is based on the Mitsubishi 3000GTO, sold in the US and European markets as a 3000GT and in twin turbo form as the VR4. The first year 1991 coupe was slated to be the pace car for that year’s Indy 500 but was replaced at the last minute by a Viper after protests from the UAW. The Spyder bodywork is a factory-contracted conversion from new hatchback donor models. In 1995, 531 and in 1996, 346 VR4 conversions were built by ASC in California, with the VR4 version first priced at an MSRP of $64,449. In deflated 2015 US Dollars, this car would be priced at over $92,000, plus taxes. The mechanical sophistication of a 3000GT VR4 remains to this day, essentially state of the art. The engine is a transverse 4-valve 3.0L DOHC V6, with Twin Turbochargers and paired Intercoolers, running through a 6-speed close ratio Getrag manual gearbox and Mitsubishi transfer case delivering fulltime all-wheel drive. The 4 wheel independent suspension is equally sophisticated with active all-wheel steering. This car is nimble, satisfyingly quick and issues a delicious and convincing exhaust rasp along with a nice mix of spooling-up turbos from the engine. This 3000GT VR4 Spyder is a masterpiece of Mitsubishi engineering prowess clothed in a very attractive and timeless design enhanced by the first retractable hardtop since the 1958 Ford Skyliner. For those seeking a classic VR4, completely unmolested and original, and with super low mileage, this Spyder cannot be duplicated. I create this listing with a heavy heart. It is time to sell my baby! Up for sale is a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Spyder. I am going to assume that if you are truly interested in this car then you probably already know a little about it, so I won't go into production numbers or rarity or anything like that. All of that is easily obtained by a quick online search. So, without further ado: The Good: This is a nice working example of a rare, hard to find car. A twin turbo V6 with a six speed transmission, all wheel drive and anti lock brakes, this car is pretty much as close as you can get to exotic car performance without having to shell out $100,000, not to mention a hard top convertible that retracts within 30 seconds! There are a few cosmetic defects, detailed below, but otherwise it is mechanically sound. It starts, stops, and runs as expected. The air conditioning cools, and the heater heats. All power accessories work, windows, locks, seats, etc. All glass is clear without defect. The rear defroster defrosts. There are no fluid leaks. Best of all, the top works! I decided to put 20" rims on it when I purchased it (because, why not?) but the car will come with the factory set as well, so you will receive two full sets of wheels and tires. Everything else is factory standard, including the stereo. There have been no modifications. The car has never been in an accident and still has the original paint. The mileage is very low for the year, which should help for future collectability. I purchased the car in 2005 with 49,000 miles on it, so I have put 30,000 on it in the last 9 years. This was purchased as a third car, so I pretty much only drove it in the summer or on sunny days, up until a couple of years ago when it became my second car/daily driver. The Bad: While the car operates well, there are a few issues, some of which are noted issues with the car in general. Typical issues with the 3000GT in general are: 1) The rear view mirror is cloudy, and a little loose. I'm used to it so have never replaced it. 2) There is some clear coat peeling on the rear spoiler. 3) The Tour/Sport indicator light is flashing, meaning there is an issue with the ECS (Electronic Controlled Suspension.) It is an electronic activation of the hardness or softness of the struts, depending on the mode you select. I have never noticed too much difference between the two, so it has not been enough of a pressing issue for me to fix it. 4) The factory wheels have some curbing and chrome peeling. Issues with this car specifically: 1) The power antenna will not retract fully into the body, but sticks up a few inches. It will still extend and retract when the stereo is in use, it just won't go all the way in. I actually had just put a new one in a couple of years ago, but hit a branch overhanging the street last year, putting a small dent in the shaft. And that's as far as it will go now. 2) There is a scrape mark that goes across the gas cap area that was caused by a bolt in the shelving in my garage. 3) There is a small dent in the front right fender, caused by my wife as she knocked a can of paint off the shelf in our garage. Pink paint. That spilled all over. Yes, she is still alive. And yes, we are still married. I know, weird, right? 4) The driver's seat has a tear down one seam. It is on the seam, so it should be fairly easy to fix. 5) There is some damage to the rear bumper from a hit and run. Sigh. 6) The rubber seals for the top are running almost 20 years old, so they have hardened a little bit in their old age. This means the top will not seal fully when in the closed position, so I would not recommend running it through a car wash or parking it outdoors in inclement weather for any long periods of time. Standard driving in rainy weather, or short term parking outdoors are not much of a problem but I would recommend keeping it in a garage. I have heard of products you can use that will soften up the rubber, but have yet to try anything. While the top does open and close completely, sometimes you have to push the button a couple of times for it to complete. 7) There are miscellaneous other little nicks and scrapes that would not be uncommon on a 20 year old car, most of which could be buffed out. Just trying to say that this is not showroom condition if that is what you are expecting. The Beautiful: This car is a blast to drive! It may not be the fastest car on the road, but it is faster than most, corners well, and brakes almost as fast as it goes, so if you want to drive circles around most of the cars out there, this will do just that. Lowering or raising the top is an instant attention getter, or conversation starter if you're looking for one. It is just heavenly to drive around with the top down on a nice, sunny day. I always feel like I am on vacation, even if I am just driving to or from work. It's a great stress reliever! Factor in the low production run and the scarcity of running examples, and this car is poised to be a future hot collectible. The Price: The actual asking price is $18,675.309 for anyone who appreciates the reference. Unfortunately, eBay would not allow me to post that extra nine tenths of a cent. That being said, I am open to consider any reasonable offers. Remember, you will be receiving two complete sets of wheels and tires! In reality, I do not really want to sell the car, but unfortunately my income is about 30% of what it was ten years ago, and to top all that off I just broke my right arm so I can't even drive it for most of this summer. Bummer... The car is being sold as is, with no warranty or any other guarantee. I would prefer a local buyer, or at least meeting the buyer here to pick it up, but I am open to shipping out of state as well. Shipping must be arranged and paid for by the buyer. I can deliver the vehicle pretty much anywhere within the Pacific Northwest, within reason. This is the rarest (1 of 48 made in this color/interior search google for VR4 registry), lowest miles-original engine VR4 Spyder on the market today. You don't have to believe me, feel free to look on ebay, autotrader, craigslist and so on. This car has it all, the hardtop convertable (this was the first car in the US to have that since the late 50's Ford Fairlane), twin turbo, and is in pristine condition. As the 3rd owner of the vehicle, I bought it from the 2nd owner from the North East. It was a garage queen there and it shows. I can get pics oF the undercarriage upon request to show that there is NO rust, no corrosion, and no issues. When we bought the car we kept it stored in a temperature controlled facility each year during the winters in Kansas to prevent any salt from ever getting near it. Now we've moved it to lower Alabama, where it'll never have to worry about snow or salt again, and have it stored in our own temperature controlled garage. Here's what this car offers that most other 3000GT'S for sale around here don't: Pedigree....the original shipping label from the Japan plant, to include the window sticker. Lets not forget the original maintenance record book, owners manual, VR4 Flip book, carrying case and all, yes all, the original included paperwork from the factory (even the warranty for the original tires). Literature....the previous owner had actually purchased the maintenance manuals...THE ACTUAL DEALERSHIP MAINTENANCE MANUALS FOR BOTH SERVICE AND REPAIR......so that if there were ever an issue they could take it to any legit custom car shop or do the work themselves. Most dealerships don't have these manuals anymore, and as an owner of several VR4's previously, I know for a fact that they don't have the SPYDER HARD TOP CONVERTIBLE maintenance manual. BUT, the two colors you'll never see in this model ****(IN THIS MODEL AS IN A 95 MITSUBISHI 3000GT VR4 SPYDER)**** is the Martinique Yellow Pearl and the Glacier White Pearl. THERE WERE ONLY 520 OF THIS CAR MADE IN 1995.....of that 48 were this White with Gray interior. Even HAGERTY (if you don't know what that is then maybe you shouldn't be looking at this car) recognizes the collect ability of this car as seen in a recent YAHOO.
